im 16 years, i workout 5 days a week doing this: 5sets 5x wide pull ups, 5 sets 5x biceps pull ups, 5 sets 20x crunches, then 2sets 5x 65kg bench press (shoulder wide grip) , after that 3sets 5x 75kg bench press (shoulder wide grip) , and 5sets 5x shoulder wide push ups. I don't train legs! I do this program every 5days, am i overtraining?
@KapitalJustice Actually in way yes it does, Aids is the Human Immuno Deficiency virus,(HIV) The HIV virus generally won't mutate into AIDS until the body 'breaks down.' certain drugs (along with rest and proper foods) help the body sustain. This is why Magic Johnson has had AIDS since at least 1992 (but probably much longer) and is still alive and very healthy. He is by no means an exception either, there are people who have had it since the early 80's are still alive and well.
HIV is not a virus. It is simply a name they call a particular antibody on a test. Furthermore, AIDS is not a disease but a list of diseases that grows longer when they wish to increase the so-called AIDS numbers. The diseases on this list are not new and also occur in people who do not have this particular antibody they call HIV.
AIDS = SCAM
Scams and lies like virtually every thing else this crime syndicate touches... history, wars, biology, science, medicine, food
@calico992 Actually, in no way, does this every happen. Magic Johnson paid his entire fortune for retrovirals to try and regress the disease and boost his T-Cell count to a "healthy" level...
Just watched a bunch of your vids man. I've studied psychology for four years, been training for ten years and preparing for powerlifting competition for two years, I'm married with three kids, and I also read a lot of stuff in my day on self improvement... given all my experience, I conclude you are a genious...looking forward to watching the rest of your vids!
another very interesting video. you definitely have some different ideas on these things but I enjoy watching and learning. I definitely agree with you that too many stresses will lead to sickness, but I was expecting this video to be more of a muscle standpoint and less of a life-style standpoint. but interesting nonetheless
@JabesNRP depends. how often is every other day? plus the 4 sets of push ups. do u feel really burned out that over the course of the days you feel too drained but continue? thats a sign of overtraining. everyone differs. but if you are feeling strong and you can see progress then no its not.
@JabesNRP yes, thats overtraining you only have to work your chest once or twice a week.your chest wont grow working it everyday becasue it have to time to recover to bigger and stronger muscle
been working out 7 days a week for 2 months now... I was like what the fuck i should be doing better by now but instead im getting performance decrease lol thanks for the vid it all makes sence now :D
I'm a little confused about the correlation you're making between Chaos Theory and overtraining. Are you saying when we feel like our bodies our breaking down from overtraining we need to just push through it and continue to train normally in order to be rebuilt into a stronger person?
@strengthcamp listen eliot, u think u are cool, but u r just a retard using steroids that thinks u know everything. but the funniest thing is that almost of the questions u answer makes no sence, u pieace of shit motherfucker!
Elliot you are a phenomenal teacher, explained the second law of thermodynamics and chaos theory much simply than I've previously encountered! Thanks man!
Great Video man!!, this has really helped me out really and taught me alot, just like all your other videos man, i wish i could come and train with you haha take care elliot, peace
What about yoga? I know most people think it's a joke but I just ask because it sounds like it would fit into what you describe and I was thinking of starting to help with flexibility.
Elliot...I first want to say thanks for the videos because they are better than every other person I listen too *cough* Scooby *cough*, but I dsagree with you on the Training part. I go to the gym 5 days a week (differnt body group everyday), and the gym is one of those outlets that relieve stress for me.
After the gym I feel better, I'm happier, my jokes are better, and I'm more alive.
Btw...I was looking for a meditation program so thanks. I will check it out.
Very informative video, Elliot. I like how you cover a wide variety of topics and don't just rehash the same old videos in different ways like how other channels will put out another lose fat and gain muscle video every month or so, and it's basically the same old shit all the time, every time. Keep up the good work, man. Loving it.
The most important thing about strength and muscle building is recovery. You can't have one without the other. :)Good vid. I like it. I think after awhile all of us die hards know our bodies well enough to know exactly when to take a break and heal up.
I find that my weight lifting actually relieves my stress from all the bullshit of life. I forget about work, bills, girlfriend, and all the stupid crap i need to get done while im working out. I find my peace of mind in the gym.
Incredible video, as always. Stay strong, Elliott!
BTW, we really need to get you networked, brother. You're videos are the best and I feel extremely lucky to have stumbled upon them. Under 2k views is too many people missing out on your inspiration, knowledge, and raw integrity. Spread the word!
bloody clever, makes sense, love the video's man, most fitness videos that are like 10 mins long i would skip through and get the major points, your one's i watch all the way through, really informative thanks man :D
Hey elliot, you say that training is an added form of stress and that meditating is a good way to de-stress. I find that training is one of the bests ways that I de-stress?? When I have a bad day at work or fight with the missus, nothing makes me feel better than hitting the gym. Am i confusing this feeling with something else??
@KillerCracker69 hospital administration... when you get a sports scholarship offer from only one school, you take it... even if everything they have to major in sucks! lol
@strengthcamp i have been watching your videos and have wondered what your education was because most other fitness videos are 5 minutes of bullshit. you really know your stuff and you are excellent at explaining it in simple terms. not many people can do both. for me overtraining was a major barrier because i started at as an ultra-sedantary skinnyfat teen. my flexibility, endurance, strength, and general physical health were terrible. you have helped me overcome them. thanks.
Part 3: Regardless of this everything you said in the video is “right”, but the terminology is off. I am not trying to be a know-it-all (or a dick lol), but I am an engineer by trade and a bit of a book worm on this subject. Interesting read: Science vs Evolution (read for free at pathlights d o t com). Anyhow, thanks for your insight. Besides isn’t overtraining when your bones break and rip through your skin???
@yyportne awesome mike ;) i cant even touch your knowledge on the subject, so i appreciate your feedback. I'm pretty sure Ive got some of the terminology twisted, but I'm happy that, as an engineer and book worm, you acknowledge what I'm describing as valid. btw, thanks for being an awesome fan and supporter bro! yyprotne -- clever!
PART 2: In your bucket analogy the bucket getting bigger is not a high level of entropy causing Chaos followed by a new higher level of order (or reordering), but rather simply adaptation (which is provable). Yes we are an open system so we overcome entropy by adding work/energy, but only to a certain extent because eventually we die. Chaos Theory may be fun to talk about over a cup coffee (and make movies about) but it has little to do with real science; it is pure philosophy.
Part 1: Let me first start by saying I love you and all you do, not in a homo way of course lol and I mean no disrespect by what I am about to say but the Chaos Theory is really a horrible theory, especially when applied to biology. Entropy (notice my user name lol) is a Law and provable. Chaos Theory, Maxwell’s demon, negentropy, etc. are theory’s that attempt to get around entropy(and the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics) because entropy is in direct violation to the theory of evolution.
I would add certain martial arts such as Aikido and Wing Chun. Siu Lim Tao of Wing Chun has been very helpful to me and my stress levels. Moving meditation that gives you the basic building blocks of a rather cool martial art system.
I overtrained so much when I was younger, always annoys me when I look back!! Didnt gain a whole lot of muscle for so long, but was too dumb back then to wonder why, haha

@MajorMelon really meditation works on your brain first, the POWERHOUSE of your CNS, so yes!
not eating enough, or the right foods, is just another stressor (like the pitchers in my example) ultimately this will lead to malnutrition and YES that can lead to "overtraining" as well.

Elliot in theory what you're saying about building a bigger and better bucket is sound but in reality you're an endomorph who's been training all of his life. Just something you should take into account.
@batboyjhg when I say "bigger bucket" I am referring to an organisms ability to dissipate more stress as it evolves by "reorganizing" at a higher level of complexity.
that didnt help at all

Elliot in theory what you're saying about building a bigger and better bucket is sound but in reality you're an endomorph who's been training all of his life. Just something you should take into account.

@batboyjhg when I say "bigger bucket" I am referring to an organisms ability to dissipate more stress as it evolves by "reorganizing" at a higher level of complexity.
