  • that didnt help at all

  • My bucket must be 50 times greater in volume than most people's buckets because i can handle a LOT of stress lolxD.

  • im 16 years, i workout 5 days a week doing this: 5sets 5x wide pull ups, 5 sets 5x biceps pull ups, 5 sets 20x crunches, then 2sets 5x 65kg bench press (shoulder wide grip) , after that 3sets 5x 75kg bench press (shoulder wide grip) , and 5sets 5x shoulder wide push ups. I don't train legs! I do this program every 5days, am i overtraining?

  • great explanation of the subjective nature of overtraining.

  • I knew im not the only one who listens to dubstep when i workout!! When ever the drop comes i go HAM!

  • dumstep!!!

  • Eliot you are like a Messiah of the training! good work bro!

  • excelent video man!!! very good info! thanx...

  • good questions, very articulate and not bro science.

  • From a biological standpoint this is accuate information. It brought back some memories from my bio. class last semester. lol

  • i have a danm hard sexdrive. I dont think my bucket is full :P

  • my stress releaser is normaly drinking and getting high lol. sounds like i need a new stress releaver. haha

  • Michael Phelps, used to train twice as long per day, as other swimmers, he didn't get sick, he didn't break down, he is proof that this is legit.

  • you look like sammy from jersey shore!!

  • "youve got autoimune difficiencies"... haha, so stress gives you AIDS?

  • @KapitalJustice Actually in way yes it does, Aids is the Human Immuno Deficiency virus,(HIV) The HIV virus generally won't mutate into AIDS until the body 'breaks down.' certain drugs (along with rest and proper foods) help the body sustain. This is why Magic Johnson has had AIDS since at least 1992 (but probably much longer) and is still alive and very healthy. He is by no means an exception either, there are people who have had it since the early 80's are still alive and well.

  • @calico992

HIV is not a virus. It is simply a name they call a particular antibody on a test. Furthermore, AIDS is not a disease but a list of diseases that grows longer when they wish to increase the so-called AIDS numbers. The diseases on this list are not new and also occur in people who do not have this particular antibody they call HIV.

    AIDS = SCAM

Scams and lies like virtually every thing else this crime syndicate touches... history, wars, biology, science, medicine, food

  • @parasitesarefunny LMAO

Enough internet for today, bro. Go read some science books.

  • @calico992 Actually, in no way, does this every happen. Magic Johnson paid his entire fortune for retrovirals to try and regress the disease and boost his T-Cell count to a "healthy" level...

  • so when does recovery time come in for training hahaha

  • @mcortezzzzzzz exactly

  • @tyler361549 i forgot what i said man sorry

  • wtf r u chatting about cancer and death for you faggot? im going to scooby1961 for my advice this is BS and doesnt answer a simple question

  • an educated bodybuilder. A rare breed.

  • errmm.....we are supposed to sleep? lol good night

  • doesn't physical exercise be considered a stress reliever?

  • do not worry baby, I alwso seem to be overtrained ... it aches

  • Amateur Explaination ?? I got a Buddha's halo after watching your video :P

    Thanks Eliot.

  • Just watched a bunch of your vids man. I've studied psychology for four years, been training for ten years and preparing for powerlifting competition for two years, I'm married with three kids, and I also read a lot of stuff in my day on self improvement... given all my experience, I conclude you are a genious...looking forward to watching the rest of your vids!

  • black and blue make that color. got it

  • "a lot of electricity in our... environment" lol

  • another very interesting video. you definitely have some different ideas on these things but I enjoy watching and learning. I definitely agree with you that too many stresses will lead to sickness, but I was expecting this video to be more of a muscle standpoint and less of a life-style standpoint. but interesting nonetheless

  • Can't remember the last time I caught aids (auto-immune deficiency) from lack of sleep and over-training and debt

  • Comment removed

  • does swimming work for a Dissipative Practice?

  • Comment removed

  • meditation aswell!

  • i ultra enjoyed the clip man,.Way to go.Like your style.P.S. are u an engineer or something?a lot of thermodynamics etc etc

  • i do 6 sets of bench every other day and 4 sets of 70 push ups every single night is that overtraining?

  • @JabesNRP depends. how often is every other day? plus the 4 sets of push ups. do u feel really burned out that over the course of the days you feel too drained but continue? thats a sign of overtraining. everyone differs. but if you are feeling strong and you can see progress then no its not.

  • @JabesNRP yes, thats overtraining you only have to work your chest once or twice a week.your chest wont grow working it everyday becasue it have to time to recover to bigger and stronger muscle

  • i dont quite understand how meditation works

is it like just forgetting about all the stuff and think about just one thing that peace your mind like holosync??

    listening to music

in evolutionary terms like we are not designed to listen to music

look at the experiment by FUKUI

it totally f's up your sex hormones and sex hormones can lower stress and so does music

  • been working out 7 days a week for 2 months now... I was like what the fuck i should be doing better by now but instead im getting performance decrease lol thanks for the vid it all makes sence now :D

  • I'm a little confused about the correlation you're making between Chaos Theory and overtraining. Are you saying when we feel like our bodies our breaking down from overtraining we need to just push through it and continue to train normally in order to be rebuilt into a stronger person?

  • adamımsın

  • yh my mum's got a big bucket...

  • I got a huge bucket lol

  • Scooby ain't got shit on you!

  • dude this helped me with apchem... haha

  • DUBSTEP BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYY, wub wub wub ........wubwubwubwub

  • LOL "got a wife thats cheating on you"

  • Nice song :P

  • @SaladUK hope you don't mind... i linked to you in the description. Just saw your 3rd Canterbury vid, very weird LOL

  • @strengthcamp Not atall mate, use what you like ;) and thanks :D

  • @strengthcamp listen eliot, u think u are cool, but u r just a retard using steroids that thinks u know everything. but the funniest thing is that almost of the questions u answer makes no sence, u pieace of shit motherfucker!

  • @lufodao1990 Your comment would have higher value, if it were expressed through correct grammar and spelling.

  • My Meditation is my xbox live!

  • Two businesses?

  • Elliot you are a phenomenal teacher, explained the second law of thermodynamics and chaos theory much simply than I've previously encountered! Thanks man!

  • awesome vid

  • Great Video man!!, this has really helped me out really and taught me alot, just like all your other videos man, i wish i could come and train with you haha take care elliot, peace

  • Hey Elliot, what about Glutamine? Do you think it actually works or just not sure about the results?

  • Your vids have got 2b the best on the net 4 training thanks mate!

  • This is so true. When I start to feel "full" I go into the country, go for a walk, shut everything off. You put it into words.

Extra sleep, days off from training, extra good nutrition, avoid negativity. It all pays off

To be a better person, and lifter, I need balance

  • So what about the glutamine now? :D

  • Your so freaking helpful and have realistic point of view about training I can't thank you enough.

  • excellent vid as always, tnx Elliot

  • What about yoga? I know most people think it's a joke but I just ask because it sounds like it would fit into what you describe and I was thinking of starting to help with flexibility.

  • 00:10 cool intro music :)

  • yo elliot, where i can get ur vest/singlet

  • ok your whiteboard example of stress was the best fucking thing on youtube hahaha! another awesome video

  • Elliot...I first want to say thanks for the videos because they are better than every other person I listen too *cough* Scooby *cough*, but I dsagree with you on the Training part. I go to the gym 5 days a week (differnt body group everyday), and the gym is one of those outlets that relieve stress for me.

After the gym I feel better, I'm happier, my jokes are better, and I'm more alive.

Btw...I was looking for a meditation program so thanks. I will check it out.

  • Very informative video, Elliot. I like how you cover a wide variety of topics and don't just rehash the same old videos in different ways like how other channels will put out another lose fat and gain muscle video every month or so, and it's basically the same old shit all the time, every time. Keep up the good work, man. Loving it.

  • The most important thing about strength and muscle building is recovery. You can't have one without the other. :)Good vid. I like it. I think after awhile all of us die hards know our bodies well enough to know exactly when to take a break and heal up.

  • 2x speed=elliott on crack... 1/2x speed =elliott after a fat joint :)

  • I study your videos more than I study for my University course. You are awesome.

  • I find that my weight lifting actually relieves my stress from all the bullshit of life. I forget about work, bills, girlfriend, and all the stupid crap i need to get done while im working out. I find my peace of mind in the gym.

  • Man i'm glad i watched this video

  • Incredible video, as always. Stay strong, Elliott!

BTW, we really need to get you networked, brother. You're videos are the best and I feel extremely lucky to have stumbled upon them. Under 2k views is too many people missing out on your inspiration, knowledge, and raw integrity. Spread the word!

  • Great vids man

  • music is..

    Skism- Power

  • great info. thanks

  • bloody clever, makes sense, love the video's man, most fitness videos that are like 10 mins long i would skip through and get the major points, your one's i watch all the way through, really informative thanks man :D

  • this video was hilarious, B*tchy girlfriend, dutchbag boss lol

  • Hey elliot, you say that training is an added form of stress and that meditating is a good way to de-stress. I find that training is one of the bests ways that I de-stress?? When I have a bad day at work or fight with the missus, nothing makes me feel better than hitting the gym. Am i confusing this feeling with something else??

  • lol, thumbs up for bitch GF

  • how many hours per day is over training? anyone?

  • This makes sense. The times in my life where I got stronger and was less sore were when I had lower levels of stress and no depression.

  • Elliot, I don't mean this in a negative way, I am just curious to what your educational background is?

  • @jaboipell dropped out of grad school and read a lot of books.

  • @strengthcamp Smart man! ; ) What did you BA in? Just curious...

  • @KillerCracker69 hospital administration... when you get a sports scholarship offer from only one school, you take it... even if everything they have to major in sucks! lol

  • @strengthcamp I hear that! I guess you never used it?

  • @strengthcamp i have been watching your videos and have wondered what your education was because most other fitness videos are 5 minutes of bullshit. you really know your stuff and you are excellent at explaining it in simple terms. not many people can do both. for me overtraining was a major barrier because i started at as an ultra-sedantary skinnyfat teen. my flexibility, endurance, strength, and general physical health were terrible. you have helped me overcome them. thanks.

  • thanks elliot know i know how to AVIOD overtraining :p

  • @VillageIdiot453 someone catches these mistakes before me every time.. thanks!

  • hey thanks elliot

  • Part 3: Regardless of this everything you said in the video is “right”, but the terminology is off. I am not trying to be a know-it-all (or a dick lol), but I am an engineer by trade and a bit of a book worm on this subject. Interesting read: Science vs Evolution (read for free at pathlights d o t com). Anyhow, thanks for your insight. Besides isn’t overtraining when your bones break and rip through your skin???

  • @yyportne awesome mike ;) i cant even touch your knowledge on the subject, so i appreciate your feedback. I'm pretty sure Ive got some of the terminology twisted, but I'm happy that, as an engineer and book worm, you acknowledge what I'm describing as valid. btw, thanks for being an awesome fan and supporter bro! yyprotne -- clever!

  • PART 2: In your bucket analogy the bucket getting bigger is not a high level of entropy causing Chaos followed by a new higher level of order (or reordering), but rather simply adaptation (which is provable). Yes we are an open system so we overcome entropy by adding work/energy, but only to a certain extent because eventually we die. Chaos Theory may be fun to talk about over a cup coffee (and make movies about) but it has little to do with real science; it is pure philosophy.

  • Part 1: Let me first start by saying I love you and all you do, not in a homo way of course lol and I mean no disrespect by what I am about to say but the Chaos Theory is really a horrible theory, especially when applied to biology. Entropy (notice my user name lol) is a Law and provable. Chaos Theory, Maxwell’s demon, negentropy, etc. are theory’s that attempt to get around entropy(and the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics) because entropy is in direct violation to the theory of evolution.

  • I would add certain martial arts such as Aikido and Wing Chun. Siu Lim Tao of Wing Chun has been very helpful to me and my stress levels. Moving meditation that gives you the basic building blocks of a rather cool martial art system.

  • loving the frequent vids elliott! keep it up!

  • I got rid of the bitch gf, the boss and most of my debt. I'm keeping the beer bucket. LOL.

  • I overtrained so much when I was younger, always annoys me when I look back!! Didnt gain a whole lot of muscle for so long, but was too dumb back then to wonder why, haha

  • Nice that's me! Thanks for the answer dude!

  • Playing with your dog?....is that what they are calling it these days?

  • "over boss-is-a-douchebag" hahaha. elliot you are an inspiration and a wealth of knowledge dude. when i get older i definitely want to be a type of person similar to you...and a sick basketball coach :D

  • Thanx Elliot!

  • 5 days a week is nothing. i train 100% intensity for an hour every single day and havn't stopped getting bigger and stronger. You just need to mix it up.

  • Yo elliot,

What do you think of scooby1961? Have you even heard of him?

  • @orochimaruisugly

Haha. Good ol' Scooby. I know Elliot has eluded to him in the past.

  • dude... you should really become teacher, your explaining everything very well and its really really helpful, keep up the good work elliot!

  • @siimpiii he is a teacher

  • Wow you call that amateur! you kicked this one in the bean bagss

  • @Fams57 thanks bro

  • Im not gonna lie im on the juice now so i can train like a crazed animal and eat like ive never seen a hotplate before but elliot knows his stuff... guys got the knowledge always good for learning new stuff yo...

  • @yeeaaabuddy ....or you can get on the juice ;)

  • @strengthcamp hahaha

  • @strengthcamp im on it ;) im always up for learning new things tho like a sponge for knowledge haha keep up the good work bro!

  • Elliot, what about your CNS. When that is taxed, do you think that meditation etc is gonna "fix" you?

Also, you can over-train a muscle if you do not get sufficient nutrition. Right?

  • @MajorMelon really meditation works on your brain first, the POWERHOUSE of your CNS, so yes!

not eating enough, or the right foods, is just another stressor (like the pitchers in my example) ultimately this will lead to malnutrition and YES that can lead to "overtraining" as well.

  • I like the music.

  • thank you for the information, very useful as alwayz :)

  • I over trained before.....tired 24/7 and loss of strength

  • that opening is called an egr valve( exhaust gas release valve)

  • is over tRAINING like when u fell like ur muslces are on fire kinda of a fatigue u can't get rid of?

  • haha that guy looks a bit like seth rogen

  • u da man !

  • Elliot! Would you mind going into more detail about the electromagnetic stresses of our environment?

    Thanks!

  • @strongmanzack zack, an interesting book on the subject was written by Bruce Fife... i think the book is "Electromagnetic Pollution" check it out.

  • @strengthcamp will do, thanks!

  • Elliott,do you ever get hate from feminists about the "bitchy girlfriend" references you make in your vids?

Great vid btw :) thanks for the info

  • @lamiasubs LOL, no... not yet at least. Its funny cuz I'm the first to support REAL strength in women, not the bullshit feminist, "compete with men" ideals they've been lied to about. I've got 3 daughters, so I take this very seriously. But my audience is 99% men... so I speak our language to connect.

  • @strengthcamp right on.

  • Love the physics reference :)

  • Elliot in theory what you're saying about building a bigger and better bucket is sound but in reality you're an endomorph who's been training all of his life. Just something you should take into account.

  • @batboyjhg when I say "bigger bucket" I am referring to an organisms ability to dissipate more stress as it evolves by "reorganizing" at a higher level of complexity.

  • Comment removed

  • @Geistero cool, thanks!

  • Great analogy bro

  • Great video elliot you don't know how much you really help people everyday appreciate it man

  • You are very intelligent & humble Elliot!!

  • AMAZING VIDEO AS USUAL!

CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHAT BRAND ARE YOUR GLASSES MAN!!!

  • @aquamantheking they're just some generic brand from "Vision Works" LOL

  • @strengthcamp LOL

if you wear them then they are awesome ;)

  • @strengthcamp

is it possible to lose 30 pounds of FAT in 3 months???

  • I like the new Dubstep intro music!

  • Speak of the devil. I've been thinking about this all week.

  • nice video. You are very intelligient, Always ahve a good answer for all questions!

  • In Elliot, we trust!
