  • Starting at 50 kph, my point is that there still should be a lapse in which the Atom run ahead, remember the 0-100 in both cars. No matter, it's only a tip.

    It's not about power, you have to take several more things into account if you really want a fast car.

I think the only fact could perhaps explain it is that both cars were with passengers, an advantage for the one with more HP. Or (again), that Atom wasn't really doing his best.   • "50-300km/h"? Atom 300 doesn't reach 300kph, not even 260, so what kind of "race" is this? By other way, Atom 0-100=2.7s , Carrera 0-100=4.0s... are you sure the Atom's driver was racing?

    a car doing 0-200 in lets say 9,5 sec doesnt mean it will be ahead of a car doing 0-200 in 10,5 seconds.

    Drag times are the ones which matter.

    I mean 0-400m,0-600m, 0-1000m and so on...

    if a car gets to 100 in 3.2 the time it will take it to go to 200 will be also it's 0-200 time

    I doubt however that the Enzo's 0-100 is 3.6 that is without launch control for sure but it only takes 3-5 jumpstarts to burn the clutch of it ^^

    I take the same example again:

    the 997 turbo pdk hits 0-400 meters in 10.8 seconds.

    the enzo hits 0-400 meters in 11 seconds.

    the 997 turbo pdk hits 0-200km/hr in 10.4 which means at the 0-400m(10.8secs) it has more than 200km/hr.

    The enzo has more km/h after 10.8 seconds from the Turbo BUT IT IS STILL BEHIND THE TURBO AFTER 10.8 seconds race.

    Obviously the enzo will take the lead soon after this time.

    I didnt want to convience you that the 997 turbo is faster than the enzo in overall comparison,but the fact is that the 997 turbo pdk needs for 0-400m (1/4Mile) 10.7secs while the enzo needs for 0-400 11 seconds!

    Thats the best times those two car have achieved for a 0-400m race.A 0.3 seconds gap is not a small gap for 0-400m!

    Porsche 997.2 Turbo S takes 0-100 kmh in 3.0 seconds and within after that is from 0-100-200 kmh and that takes 7.5 seconds for a total of 10.5 seconds.

    so pretty much you could tell how much faster the enzo is

    these are the official numbers and has nothing to do with"wheel spin"

    because you are trying to think about"wheelspin"

    There's another silver gt and black with aftermarket exhausts which increases horsepower by less than 10

    Depends really how the driver can shift proffesionaly

    The other video I saw not m5board the carrera gt had traction control on the highest setting that's why the power was cutting on the rolling drag

  • When you guys gong to race the new 500hp atom autocar already has and its a beast nothing can touch it in the quarter.

  • I think the power to weight helps the car kicking off quickly, The bugatti veyron for example : 1001 hp and 4470lbs = 0.22 hp/lbs, just like the power to weight of the Atom : 0.22 hp/lbs.

    0-100 km in the bugatti is quicker than the atom : 2.5 sec against 2.7 sec, and the top speed is incomparable ...

    To sum up, A fast acceleration is garanteed with a good power to weight ratio, but the top speed is higher with more power.

  • What everyone is forgetting is that the Ariel Atom is meant to literally be a toy. It's not supposed to be something that the average person buys, but something that people with extra money and leisure time to enjoy. And in the end, it is STILL a Honda Type-R engine. So stop all your shenanigans and saying that the Atom is a waste, because it is still a good toy.

  • Well...you need BHP for TopSpeed. And torque for acceleration. So its Torque to weight and BHP to aerodynamics.

    In corners the weight should be low...but then you need aerodynamics to push the car to the ground otherwise the car will under- or oversteer while going round corners.

    But aerodynamics eat the effect of BHP.

    And you always need a low centre of mass as well and the right balance...it's all not that simple at least

    Wrong. At high speeds horsepower counts more than anything. Light and not powerful cars & bikes are fast off the line, but at high end speeds there is so much wind that torque+horsepower is all that counts.

  • For conventional drag races you guys are correct it is the Power to weight ratio.

    The lighter the car is the better it starts, and the better it speeds up. I can say within 160km/h the Ariel atom could pretty much kick many car's ass.

    But when on a rolling start, car accelerate at the 2nd gear, where the Torque and Power plays a more crucial part then weight.

    According to top gear the Atom in fact beat Porsche 9ff (Over 900 hp), Murc, ZR6 in a 1/4 mile drag race starting from 0. km/h

  • On Top Gear track lap times are: Carrera GT 1:19.8 and Atom 1:19.5. It's a minor advantage mate. I don't see how Atom would kill it. If the tack was little longer,with longer finish line,it might be even slight Carrera advantage,so you can't speak of Carrera like it's Suzuki Splash.

  • I agree about fords for mechanical parts. But interiors are still made out of very cheap plastic and not put together well. European Fords are MUCH MUCH better build inside. For example european ford mondeo is probably build as well as BMW 3 series inside, and it handles perfectly on the road. But that is all because of german engineers who worked on that car.

  • you're just speculating. The real reason you can't compare the SSC to the Bugatti is that they are two completely different cars. The SSC is a supercar, the Veyron is a GT car.

    the CCX with 2 superchargers and 8 cylinders it can go 249 TS

    CCX: v8 2 super (806 hp) top speed: 249 mph

    Veyron: v16 4 turbo (987 hp) top speed: 253 mph

  • BUT, the Veyron is a heavier car and is alot more forgiving with all the driver aids it has, plus all its luxuries, the CCX is lighter, no driver aids, no luxury, BALLS OUT type vehicle. The CCX is hardcore and will kill you first time you slip, the STIG even crashed that thing. THe veyron is for ridiculously rich people that want to experience sheer power but not have the know how to really drive a 1000hp car.

  • It has to do with a lot more then just power. Porsche is faster then most with less horse power, becuase wieght, aerodynamics, and how much power loss to the road. Bugatti has 4 wheel drive, so it loses a lot more hp then the CCX by the time it gets to the wheels. Also the Veyron is like a regular street car in many ways. You can make huge power from anything but then you just have a race car, which will not work on the road well.

Pinhead, were is the refinement. the Viper ACR has it on the skidpad, the GT2 has it in the slalom, the Veyron in all out acceleration, and for $117k no one knows or cares. Plus u've never tracked b4!!
