He has always played about with songs on stage (he stated once that this is his favourite song) even in the Zep days. I remember at Earls Court wondering what on earth they were doing to the songs but I've realised over the years that's just what he does! Looking forward to his England dates - I'm going to three!!!
I just saw this in Houston. Excellent. So Good cause it pumps new juices that that song has almost done in the past but did not quite have the slippery feeling this version has.
In my opinion, I don't think he's trying to reinvent the song or anything. . .after seeing his show last night in Dallas, TX, it seemed to fit right in with the style/atmosphere being created with the other songs. I enjoyed the different take on it, though I will always be partial to the original. New doesn't have to replace. . .it's just different. Peace to you all. :-)
Robert is great, I'm a huge fan, but this version is a crap. He (the band) took off all the groove of the song. There's no problem playing Led Zepp songs with a clean guitar and with a lighter drum, but this song really didn't work this way. It's way boring...
@z1inspector Yeah, you're right. He started playing Zepp songs in 1988 I think. But still.. I don't like the way he's changin those tunes. Well.. I did like it when he was playing with The Strange Sensation. Those people were great. I'm a guitarist and I thougt those two are really inspiring. I saw them twice.

He's turning Zeppelin classics to ordinary songs imo. I don't like it very much.

@zeppelinn
i dont think what he does with his old zep lyrics & tunes is "ordinary"
believe me he experimentst but is very cautious to repect his previous work.
he's just playin around, and their was a time he wouldnt do ANY zep at all, remember those several years after bonzo passed,
