I have found that they don't feel the need to go after the aiptasia until they see that they have some competition for the food source. Just my thoughts.
i got heaps of glass aiptasia in my tank i put in glass shrimps inthe tank thinknig they might eat then turns out they dont. they getting along real nice in my tank. I thought my hawk fish might eat then but he leaves then alone do you guys reckon a peppermint shrimp could live in my tank with a hawk fish
My new matted filefish has eaten about 30 aiptasia so far today! Great choice, a little ugly but definately works and he doesn't eat my other corals. Will eat zoas and after the glass nems are gone, feed him brine shrimp.
Lol!!!

All my aiptasia are gone! I think he might get too hungry, haha! And yes, I did have a serious case -- I took over the problem from somebody else.

finally, an enviromentally safe solution for dealing with astapia, who needs chemicls right.
btw, for anyone looking for astapia eaters, look into copperband butterfly fish (voracious but difficult to keep) or red legged hermit crabs.

It usually takes at least 2 shrimp in the dish before they'll eat the anemone, but still only 1 actually does the chomping......no idea why.
