@blueandluna you are correct. i have a video on my page that shows them demonstrating inside the bank. they were asked to leave, refused and even spoke over the employees. OWS lies about their intentions/actions.
Citigroup Inc. on Wednesday agreed to pay a $285 million fine to settle civil charges brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission that it sold securities backed by mortgages that it simultaneously bet against.
The regulator alleged that Citigroup Global Markets structured and marketed a $500 million collateralized-debt obligation that was backed by subprime loans, and then bet against those mortgage-related assets, which it didn't disclose to investors.
people who think the banks are in control of the police are fucking idiots. i dont know if anyone is aware of this but there has been protests on wallstreet against big corps blaming them for their own faults. many of said people are stoned out of their mind. so it would make sense for someone to go in there and start shit.
@dutchmcgee101 actually i dont. but occupy wallstreet ,unlike what others claim, is not peaceful. when they start saying "behead the rich," "deport jews," etc i find it entertaining to see cops beat them up a bit...so mr. poor white collage hippie how is that for an answer?
@AdangerousRETARD buddy i didn't go to college, i work at a local grocery store and i'm a Constitutionalists. If you knew anything it's zionist jews i.e the Rothschilds and Rockefellers who control the banking system. and yes you live up to your name mr. retard.
@dutchmcgee101 somebody has got to control them. the banks dont force people to sign contracts or get loans or do anything at all. the whole notion of "stealing" is dumb. the name was sarcastic btw but if you dont get that and have the immature urge to call names.....cool.
Id wish these people who post these clip would word them right...No one is being arrested for closing there account. And there would be no problems if they just had a peacefull protest..But you get these people who are demanding and if they would ever let them in the bank then what if you guest violence well your right.. so i dont blame the banks one bit for not letting them in...
A person tries to close a bank account, the bank calls the cops and the cops act like a security arm of the bank itself...public officials litterally doing the bidding of corporations.
But when banks crash the economy, no one is arrested. The justice dept. doesnt even have an investigation...
Fuck Citibank and the NYPD,Corrupt Mother Fuckers,NYPD, go frame some more people for Drug Arrets, put your hands on me on the sidewalk and you'd wear my cane up the side of your head !!!!!
Large organized groups should enter into major banks and demand that their accounts be closed immediately. This may turn out to be a good strategy and send a powerful message.
Acutally, if it were on a large enough scale it would. Look at the run on the banks during the great depression. Banks obviously dont have the assets to allow every one to make simultaneous withdrawls. AIG couldnt pay the credit default swaps when all the mortgage backed securities tanked simultaneously...hence the bailout. Im not saying its a great idea, but on a large enough scale, it would have a devastating impact...
@DcEatsItsYoung The Fed was created to save the banking system from that type of collapse. The banks will simply loan funds from the Fed to cover losses. Even if multiple bank runs did work and achieve their aim(which they wont), what exactly have you achieved. How is that helpful to the Americans. How does that positively impact the economy. Its just a very silly idea. Its not a question of big banks vs small banks. Its well run banks vs poorly run banks
As i said, Im not actually arguing for that...i was just pointing out that it could have a significant impact. And yes the Fed would just print more money (otherwise known as a bailout). But bailouts are not exactly politically viable right now (given that people have literally taken to the streets).
It is PRECISELY a question of banks which are too big to fail. In a true free market society, we shouldnt have any entity which by definition requires a tax payer bailout if it fails
@DcEatsItsYoung I never said we should bailout banks with taxpayer money. Dont forget that a good many banks didn't even want the TARP funds. There is no such thing as too big to fail. That's just propaganda

Well it's official, the cops work directly for the bank, and bank officials are allowed to put their hands on people and push them into a building so they can arrest them. If you are a customer of citibank, citibank can have you arrested for withdrawing your money!
she should have punched him in the nose and yelled for help. She was a private citezen on public property. I couldn't really understand what was happening before the woman was arrested and why she was arrested, but it looks outrageous from what I saw. I certainly don't want to do business with a bank that has its customers arrested!
The protesters were absolutely NOT "arrested for trying to close accounts." They stood around inside Citbank making impassioned speeches against the company and cheering each other on. Employees asked them to leave but they refused to do so. All of this is documented on video on YouTube: watch?v=l2vtXJ0k7AA (or search for "Occupy wall street -citibank")
@MickMcClary You quote: "Reuters, CNN, and NBC News, ABC News, CBS News, and FOX News" ??? Do you truly believe any of these news sources engage in unbiased, honest, and independent critical journalism? Get real and wake up. All of these news outlets including Reuters are little more than mouthpieces for the corporate interests that own and control them. Try the Guardian, Al Jazeera English, Huffington Post, Alternet, Truthdig, The Young Turks, Democracy Now!, and others for genuine journalism
@gserlenga - the publications that you suggest are indisputably left-wing opinion offerings. No "news" to be found. Oh, they spout a few ostensible facts then rev up their spin. Let me save you another post by acknowledging that there are just as many right-wing rags out there too. Are there really - I mean REALLY - objective "news" sources any more? Does anyone just report the FACTS and let readers make up their own minds? I don't think there are.
@ferretburger And by doing that at will they can prevent you acessing your account. Simple as that. You wanna bend over and get fucked in the ass by the corporate machine then thats great. Just don't go offering my ass when your fucked.
@ferretburger But they even arrested people not in the building.
There really is no excuse for that. Plus they can likely sue the bank for holding customer money and not allowing the customer to close the account or take the money.
I watched the video twice and got no indication of WHY police were called to CitiBank. I checked a number of news outlets approximately 4:00p.m. (MST): Reuters, CNN, and NBC News: nothing.
ABC News, CBS News, and FOX News independently report 24 demonstrators arrested for TRESPASSING. Not one source reported the lie about anyone trying to withdraw funds from CitiBank. Someone has taken a slice of newsreel and made up the story about "people trying to withdraw." You took the bait. Shame on you!
@MickMcClary you are an idiot. The woman grabbed was a CUSTOMER so she was clearly not trespassing. I've seen this post on other videos about this. You are probably an employee for Citi you prick.
@Annihilate3275 . I agree that the woman shown probably was a customer. I also agree that the cops over-reacted. But my point is, as stated, there is absolutely NO PROOF that anyone was busted for trying to close an account. THAT is the crux of the matter and is why the title of this video is a lie. As for being a CitiBank employee - at best it's laughable. I am a retired health care provider with no ties at all to CitiBank or any other banking institution.
@MickMcClary So because NO PROOF is available in the video that people were arrested for closing their accounts, you are certain this video is a lie? Your grasp of logic is quite poor.
@Annihilate3275 - hmmmm... interesting conclusion. I had no idea that you can ascertain from reading my comments that you have even a clue as to how I act. You must be very clever and quite in demand!
@MickMcClary You keep posting this same comment on the same video on different channels. The link below this video on my channel reports exactly what happened. You seem to have an agenda here.
The New York Observer reports on this story and states than people were closing there accounts and were arrested. Why do you keep reposting exactly this same comment all over the place ?
I would post the link here but youtube is blocking it. NOW I WONDER WHY ?
@postpanic1 - I've been blocked on many of them too. Trust me, if you're blocked it's not of my doing. As to why I posted on several channels - simple. I want to get my message wide dissemination. The message again: there is no PROOF that anyone was trying to close an account. The premise of these re-posted videos is erroneous.
Shitty bank fascism style. Every paper you sign with Shitty bank means we can fuck you. Thanks for letting Shitty bank fuck you. Rememebr with Shitty bank we are always on top. PS We also own the street.
This whole occupy thing needs some structure. Nobody is going to take any of this seriously if they don't have a central leadership with clearly outlined rules, goals, principles, and boundaries. Any good points they could possibly have are getting lost in these bursts of chaos and disorder. If they aren't going to take themselves seriously, how do they expect anyone else to take them seriously? I mean really, this sort of stuff is just stupid. Punishing individuals like this is pointless.

@WakeyWakeySheeple The men in white look completely like the typical men in white I see in othr videos of police brutality.
Maybe private police use the same color codes as regular ones, but most banks dont have a 6+ cops on standby, especially not 2 white ones assuming thats upper rank here like it is with the police.
So it may be a mix, but it looks very much like city police.
@WakeyWakeySheeple yeah, i watched more videos and saw a news report. Apparently the bank security went outside and grabbed the woman who had proof she was a customer and brought her in forcibly while locking other people in so the police could arrest them later.
This is irony because the bank said people were disruptive nd woudnt leave, but if they didnt want to leave then why lock them in? Why drag her in?
Its disgusting that despite all the evidence people defend the bank here.
the title of this video is for stupid people to believe....if she was arrested is bc she did sometging wrong....why they dont go occupy white house?..there it is the main point
@YNOT100026 Two women in Santa Cruz, California were also prevented from closing their BofA accounts. They weren't arrested but the manager told them they can't be a customer and a protester at the same time.
It's real and you shouldn't stand for banks getting between customers and their money.
@TheInedaName It's maybe real, real silly. I closed my bofa account and cancelled the 3 credit card i had with them 3 years ago when thet got out of control. No fanfare no i'm protesting speech just the act of saying "i'm mad as hell and i'm not taking it anymore" why anyone banks with bofa is a mystery. there is no law against closing your account so don't be silly, if anyone wants to close their account they can close their mouth and get their money.
Don't close any of your bank accounts! It will start a chain reaction and cause something similar to the great depression and you'll only be hurting everyone else.
@tylerch94 : But if those customers move their money to local banks and credit unions, the money is still in the economic system. The money is in more just hands.
@tylerch94 That's not the reason the great depression happened, I mean kinda, It was more that the banks didn't have the peoples money. Banks should have your money and you should be able to withdraw it when you wish.
Americans allowed the Rich to take control of their entire system, serves them right, every single America that EVER voted Republican or Tea Party are to blame for the state of their country, certainly a little Socialism like Canada would Not kill you, your freedom is gone under the Republican system, Democrates are the only real choice for America. I am Canadian and our Free market Socialism works just fine, we have asshole Billionaires too.
@waltermh111 So the bank called the police because people were closing bank accounts? Police won't actually show for that you realize. I highly doubt all those people happened to have bank accounts either, or felt the need to bring their bikes in with them to the bank. I'm completely for the Occupy protests, but this just looks like someone made some shit up while standing outside and that rumor spread like wildfire.
@waltermh111 Because protesters realize that whether or not they have numbers, the second police get called because people are TRESPASSING, they'll try and leave. Standing outside or inside and not actually doing business with the bank would be considered harassment. There's a fine line between that.
@BBQPeanut But if the request was to leave, then locking them in is counter to their words, and the whole thing hurts their business more than the protest itself.
But of ourse businesses doing stupid things that are self destructive is nothing new and sadly common.
Standing outside cannot be considered harassment. Its on public side walk and no video shows the outside protesters as being harassing.
Also watch more angles, the woman dragged in had papers proving she was a customer.
@BBQPeanut Not all of the people had bank accounts, which is why not all protesters went into the bank. They dragged an actual customer into the bank though, and got her arrested with no reason. News reports side with the protesters here.
If you were actually for the protest you would look at more angles before assuming the banks are good companies and that the police, especially NYPD, dont work for them.
They shouldnt even lawfully be able to lock people in just for supposed disruption.
@waltermh111 The NYPD serve to protect. If there's a problem and someone calls 911, they'll respond. Why do they respond to banks for small things? Because anything could be a distraction for an actual bank robbery. If you don't want to get locked in somewhere, don't go on private property.
@BBQPeanut This wasnt anything close to a bank robbery set up, and th bank had a handful of security guards to control the situation. Your defense is stretching.
And your last line is just scary. Thats just screwed up. Wow, whatever, you just jumped off the deep end.
Go into any bank in the country and be disruptive and you will be asked to leave. Dont leave and you will be charged with trespassing. Still dont leave and you will be forcefully removed. Try it
this bunch of socialist were disrupting inside the bank ..the bank called 911 and here they dont say why she was arrested...communist propaganda like this "arrested for closing account"...liers!
Citibank Public Affairs issued the following statement regarding today's incident: "A large number of protesters entered our branch at 555 La Guardia Place around 2:00 PM today. They were very disruptive and refused to leave after being repeatedly asked, causing our staff to call 911. The Police asked the branch staff to close the branch until the protesters could be removed. Only one person asked to close an account and was accommodated."
@ttgator2003 First, it likely wasnt just one person that asked. It looks like police got there mighty fast. Most of the protesters were still outside based on video evidence.
I am surprised if anybody else had a chance to ask abou their accounts the way things seemed to go down.
Even then, if they were looking to cause trouble the others would have gone inside to protest and they wouldnt be trying to call lawyers while filming a protest inside.
@insertswear But he knows why they were there, it was a scheduled bank account withdrawal. So they went inside to withdraw accounts while most people stayed outside, and the people inside, and apparently outside were arrested.
Obviously the bank didnt like people closing account there.
Sure, they can say its for protesting, but you think banks like people protesting them? lol
It's funny because they were probably causing a scene inside yelling and being ignorant, that's the only reason they were arrested. Morons these days.
@david10291029 except you have 0 evidence of that and we have video evidence that that wasnt the case. More than just this video though this is a clear indication.
@david10291029 You apparently only read what you wanted to.
They locked protesters in, which should be illegal.
They dragged a customer who had proof she was one, into the bank to be arrested.
Neither of those are excusable, and were far more disruptive than a group who was going to protest than walk away which has happened in all other protests. They dont even generally last that long.
Multiple people had accounts, but only one was allowed to close their account before the police were called
@purk60 I was just discussing Somalia with somebody.
They have private police there, though warlords also provide "security.
What is happening is competitive businesses will hire the security or pay off warlords, but its actually used to intimidate or attack the opposing business, so it escalates til the private security is having a mini war.
Apparently these shitting treasonous banks have in the fine print of the agreements one signs when one opens an account the dictate that closing one's account is an arrestable offense.
@doodleplop800 I'm talking about all the hypocrites there who are protesting for more socialism, more fascism and more police state. Idiots who claim bailing out banks is somehow capitalism, idiots who think subsidizing green energy is somehow different than bailing out bankers. Idiots who think taxing people is the solution to our problems.
@XulChris Please advise the specific actions that the American people should take, since our constitution is suspended; the economy crashed by design; a police state installed; full spectrum surveillance on we the people; the weaponizing of our food; the merging of police and military; three hardened battalions under NothCom to control citizen uprising; laws to foccibly vaccinate with dirty batch vaccines. Our specific actions should be what ...
@XulChris Your welcome to leave but this is my country and I will stay and fight to the end!The banks don't own this country in spite of what they think.
@420gma Focus on the government and the Federal Reserve, not the banks. The banks are simply paying off the mafia which is the government. If it's not the banks its the green energy companies. There is no difference. The problem is a government which has grown powerful through the Federal Reserve system of fiat paper money.
@XulChris WTF does green energy have to do with it.? You work for the oil companies or something? It is the banks and corrupt politicans. And no I'm not voting ron paul! Never happen !

The bank has the right to ask customers to leave. If they don't leave they get arrested.
That's how it works in a society without public services.
ferretburger 4 months ago
@ferretburger And by doing that at will they can prevent you acessing your account. Simple as that. You wanna bend over and get fucked in the ass by the corporate machine then thats great. Just don't go offering my ass when your fucked.
hughes7520 4 months ago

MickMcClary 4 months ago
@MickMcClary you are an idiot. The woman grabbed was a CUSTOMER so she was clearly not trespassing. I've seen this post on other videos about this. You are probably an employee for Citi you prick.
Annihilate3275 4 months ago
@Annihilate3275 . I agree that the woman shown probably was a customer. I also agree that the cops over-reacted. But my point is, as stated, there is absolutely NO PROOF that anyone was busted for trying to close an account. THAT is the crux of the matter and is why the title of this video is a lie. As for being a CitiBank employee - at best it's laughable. I am a retired health care provider with no ties at all to CitiBank or any other banking institution.
MickMcClary 4 months ago
@MickMcClary So because NO PROOF is available in the video that people were arrested for closing their accounts, you are certain this video is a lie? Your grasp of logic is quite poor.

NOW I WONDER WHY ?
postpanic1 4 months ago
@postpanic1 - I've been blocked on many of them too. Trust me, if you're blocked it's not of my doing. As to why I posted on several channels - simple. I want to get my message wide dissemination. The message again: there is no PROOF that anyone was trying to close an account. The premise of these re-posted videos is erroneous.

WakeyWakeySheeple 4 months ago
@WakeyWakeySheeple The men in white look completely like the typical men in white I see in othr videos of police brutality.
Maybe private police use the same color codes as regular ones, but most banks dont have a 6+ cops on standby, especially not 2 white ones assuming thats upper rank here like it is with the police.
So it may be a mix, but it looks very much like city police.
waltermh111 4 months ago
@waltermh111 They are just security guards. NYPD wear black. Watch WCxg2IDtLgo it shows this video plus the police arresting these two.
WakeyWakeySheeple 4 months ago
@WakeyWakeySheeple yeah, i watched more videos and saw a news report. Apparently the bank security went outside and grabbed the woman who had proof she was a customer and brought her in forcibly while locking other people in so the police could arrest them later.
This is irony because the bank said people were disruptive nd woudnt leave, but if they didnt want to leave then why lock them in? Why drag her in?
Its disgusting that despite all the evidence people defend the bank here.

@BBQPeanut The people that went inside had accounts, the protesters stayed outside, watch the video, dang
Not even trying to think, are you?
waltermh111 4 months ago
@waltermh111 So the bank called the police because people were closing bank accounts? Police won't actually show for that you realize. I highly doubt all those people happened to have bank accounts either, or felt the need to bring their bikes in with them to the bank. I'm completely for the Occupy protests, but this just looks like someone made some shit up while standing outside and that rumor spread like wildfire.
BBQPeanut 4 months ago
@BBQPeanut Actually, police will show up to just about anything a bank asks for.
But i hope you have watched other videos since this post.
I watched videos from2 other angles and got more truth on the matter.
1) the bank locked the protesters in. If the protesters didnt want to leave the bank wouldnt have tried to lock them in.
2) the lady dragged in had proof she was a customer, which she showed bank security while outside the bnk.
They forcibly dragged her into the bank.
waltermh111 4 months ago
@waltermh111 Because protesters realize that whether or not they have numbers, the second police get called because people are TRESPASSING, they'll try and leave. Standing outside or inside and not actually doing business with the bank would be considered harassment. There's a fine line between that.
BBQPeanut 4 months ago
@BBQPeanut But if the request was to leave, then locking them in is counter to their words, and the whole thing hurts their business more than the protest itself.
But of ourse businesses doing stupid things that are self destructive is nothing new and sadly common.
Standing outside cannot be considered harassment. Its on public side walk and no video shows the outside protesters as being harassing.
Also watch more angles, the woman dragged in had papers proving she was a customer.
waltermh111 4 months ago
@BBQPeanut Not all of the people had bank accounts, which is why not all protesters went into the bank. They dragged an actual customer into the bank though, and got her arrested with no reason. News reports side with the protesters here.
If you were actually for the protest you would look at more angles before assuming the banks are good companies and that the police, especially NYPD, dont work for them.
They shouldnt even lawfully be able to lock people in just for supposed disruption.
waltermh111 4 months ago
@waltermh111 The NYPD serve to protect. If there's a problem and someone calls 911, they'll respond. Why do they respond to banks for small things? Because anything could be a distraction for an actual bank robbery. If you don't want to get locked in somewhere, don't go on private property.

@BBQPeanut This wasnt anything close to a bank robbery set up, and th bank had a handful of security guards to control the situation. Your defense is stretching.

ttgator2003 4 months ago
@ttgator2003 they werent disruptive, the protesters mostly stayed outside, and as you can see from the video, were not disruptive.
The ones that went inside looked to have accounts. They would have all gone in if they wanted to get arrested.

I saw nothing inside to indicate trouble.
