@alfaranja - my friend, you don't have to a "Buddhist" to attain wisdom and compassion. You don't have to attain anything or accomplish anything to be a Buddhist. You may already be one when you prefer to love and be compassionate to all and prefer to see this world as it is... It's not being a Buddhist but being who are are that's important.... Seeking ultimate wisdom and to be truly compassionate is the purpose of our lives. at least it is mine.

The best way to become a buddhist is by reading the book " An Anthology of Discourses from the Pali Canon" by Bhikku bodhi , u can get it from amazon. also start reading on Accesstoinsight.'s study guides Try to be a Stream enterer as the main spiritual aim of life. Mettanisamsa sutta gives the 11 advantages of loving kindness & u can do the meditation for 15-30 min everyday. May u be happy and healthy
