  • See at 0:20, is it just Carmine playing the double bass pedal part, and is Vinnie just playing one but fast enough to keep up with Carmine, or just not at all? Because otherwise how else can he play both bass peals and work the high hat at the same time?

  • The sonic quality and fidelity of this youtube video is exceptionally good. My speakers are rockin' over here in Chicago.

  • What a great show of talent. These Brothers are good, guys. Carmine wearing his 'wrestling' shoes lol. When he goes at those double bass drums his feet are a blur. Vinny is also quite the performer. This family is solid; probably drove the old man nuts; but it all paid off in the end. I just hope their Dad and Mom have lived long enough to see their boys make it in the music business.

    Dad: "Those are my boys!!"

  • Your kidding me right Adler is definantly not overrated but the best drummer as of now is Shannon larkin

  • @22rawrrawr ... you're kidding right

  • @thelopeisback hell no

  • @meynam no carmime has the mustache

  • one ask what is vinnie apice, the guy of mustache?

  • Dumb and bumber!! hahahaha These 2 cunts are not fit to lace the boots of proper drummers!! I have always said these two wankers have tagged onto good drummers for publicity! Pair of decent, but not brilliant drummers.

  • @coltsuperocean10 How old are you budd? Carmine was playing drums before you were a twinkle in your Daddy's eye and you are telling me they are 'cunts' and 'wankers' who *tagged onto good drummers* whatever the fuck that means. Carmine's been good enough to play with Ozzy, Vanilla Fudge (who you have probably never heard of), Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck, Cactus, and a few other bands. I saw him with the Fudge in '69 with Zeppelin. He blew Bonham away so shut your fuckin' mouth.

  • Vinnie has always had more feel. No contest. And yeah, fuck Adler. Stfu dude.

  • he 's italian and this KICK-ASS'!!!!

  • They Rule!!! Carmine is awesome inovative, and Vinny is one of the greatest drummers. Both are!

  • @salottin Agreed!

  • @salottin Agreed!

  • This is one of the lamest things i've ever seen

  • They are brothers or what

  • @borisinin Yes, they are

  • Boring

  • They're both good drummers but that was terrible.

  • Ya'll Crazy! LOL!

  • their cymbals and drums sound terrible. they are both good drummers, not the best though!

  • most of you asswipes that think you know who can drum and who cant , suck at it

  • The kind of "solo" you get at an elderly relative's wedding/anniversary/funeral when the band need to step outside for a smoke and somebody has to stay around and make a noise so the waitresses realise they're still alive, taking their minds off the rising urge to walk in front of a speeding bus at the end of their shift, 'cause they know thy're going home to stale milk in the refrigerator and a father that still beats them. That kind of solo.

  • Yawwwwnnnnnn......

Carmine is a great rudiment guy but doesn't play with much taste or imagination.

And Vinnie might be one the most boring drumers ever. Right up there with the cat who played for Dokken.

And shit, who tuned these kits?

  • The most over rated drummer....EVER....yes you Carmine....

  • @DukeKevorkian YES!!! Am I the only one that thinks he's super overrated??

  • @DonChato12 I dont know. Maybe he is a bit overrated, but he's a really nice guy. I've took a bunch of lessons with him in this past July, and he pretty much has a set out amount of beats and fills that get a bit tedious, but are still really good. So I think he may be a bit overrated, not super, but he's a good drummer and a great teacher. No disrespect intended.

  • @pErCusSIOn240 Eh I guess you are right. I just don't click with his style.

  • @DonChato12 Uh..you OBVIOUSLY aren't a drummer. Drummer would "Overrate him" Drummers Respect him Like they do Neil Peart. This guy helped influence some of the "Overrated" drummers such as Dave Lombard,Paul Bostaph, Chris Adler, ETC. THEY'RE WAY more overrated then him(Except Dave who is god)

  • @JudasAngel666

Explain to me how Chris Adler is overrated, lmao.

  • @therealshugjr I meant as as " " :P

  • is a douche better than a turd?

  • all im saying is that its unfair that these two get jobs and be on drummerworld whereas drummers like me have to sit and watch this ''playing'' and weep.

  • @damienw800i Everyone can learn good technique, and with a lot of hard practice everyone can learn to be super-fast. Drumming is a skill, just like playing any other instrument. Being a musician on the other hand is a whole set of different skills, among them people skills, street-smarts, being a nice and relaxed guy who others wants to play and hang around with and also drumming skills. That's why these guys are where they are and not you, they have been helping their community for years.

  • one word: repulsive

  • they look like 70's porno actors..but they fuckin rock !

  • CARMINE!

  • THE BOYS FROM BROOKLYN !!

  • extremely boring, absolutely terrible drum sound, talentless hacks.

  • 3:56 = God tried to stop all of this noise with a lightning bolt... but it didn't work.

  • Disregard the sound, they really rock! Awesome old style drumming - love it! The dislikes to this video are the ones that think good drumming is throwing in 32nd notes of bass drum between the 16ths, and thats all you need...

  • Disregard the sound, they really rock! Awesome old style drumming - love it? The dislikes to this video are the ones that think good drumming is throwing in 32nd notes of bass drum between the 16ths, and thats all you need...

  • wow. that really is bad.

  • like 2 cavemen uses clubs on logs/ LOL

  • DAMN these Guys are good. NOW the big Question Who's better? Carmine? or Vinnie? lOL

  • @JudasAngel666 There is no "who's better" in a subjective matter. Is lobster better than prime rib? It depends on what YOU think.

  • @BeatleSongPlayer I know hence why I put the LOL

  • That's some heavy drummin...sounds like they're playing with pieces of re-rod.

  • To those who think Vinny is a bad drummer go listen to Holy diver and Mob rules! And one more thing: Since monsters musically like Iommi, Butler and Dio chose him to play with them( and they obviously know a lot more than you smartarses that think you know everything about drums) that's got to mean he's really great!! End of story! And he also played with John Lennon and a little before he joined Sabbath in 1980, Ozzy asked him to play with him but he turned him down.

  • I can really hear those aquarian heads! He tunes his heads standard same/ same on both sides. Aquarian heads sound great standard. They sound like crap any other way.

  • Carmine is all calm then at 2:15 He just explodes into pure epicness XD

  • None of you could play like either of them! When you think you do, post it..Until then ,Shut up !

  • Oh sure. They suck. How good could they possibly be? Between the two of them, they've played for Dio, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Rod Stewart, Vanilla Fudge, Derringer, Beck Bogert and Appice, Pink Floyd. The Michael Schenker Group, Ted Nugent.... And they have collaborated with all, ALL of the greatest names in rock; too many to list here.

  • Stop fucking complaining! Damn! If you don't like their drumming, just move to another video!

  • Weak.

  • well vinnie cant suck too bad if he was in black sabbath and DIO... both of em are better then ur shit talkin babblin asses sittin here readin this!

  • and vinnie paved the way for alot of metal drummers!

  • screw all you damn kids that think this suck! yea it doesnt have 200 BPM double bass or blast beats or triggered kicks! but what u dont understand children was this paved the way for all your modern day heroes.. esp vinnie hello black sabbath, DIO, yall should be ashamed of yourselves! in the end children it aint about speed its about groove! go re learn your basics! both these guys deserve upmost respect! Carmine helped John Bonham in the beginning and was a rock great! and vinnie!

  • Comment removed

  • I've been a fan of them (mostly Vinny) since the 80's. But the sound of these drums is terrible. If you asked me, and I told Vinny myself, he should have stayed with Slingerland and Zildjian

  • No matter what these guys have promoted or done or whatever, they suck on the drums. BAD! No feel! Just smacking whatever sounds "cool" or "rockish". This is sad.

  • I just can't take this... it sounds like two beginning drummers playing on tin cans and pie plates!! Arrgggghhhhh!

  • THOSE 56 DISLIKES SUCK.......

  • @mtgjig3

it's 75 now and those people suck lol.

  • @mtgjig3 Yur stupid,, can you play?????

  • sad

  • Thank God that's over,great job

  • Some of you guys on here act like you know everything.

Just listen and enjoy the music and musicians you like

If you don't like them, fine. Don't comment. Go watch something else.

Sometimes I think YouTube should get rid of the ability to comment on videos.

  • @MYNAMETAYLA - don't read the comments

  • booooooooring.

  • Fugget about it paisans.

  • One son drumming is enough to drive my mother nuts. Imagine what their mother went through.

Serious now. Vinnie rocked big time with DIO and Black Sabbath. I like his style a lot. Heavy, raw but still creative. Appice wrote the best rock drumming methods in my opinion. Check out the "Groove" method. It really helped me build my playing and it's really fun to study.

    Two thumbs up.

  • Was Vinnie doing double bass??

  • @abe1sapien Vinnie in his career has always used single bass.

  • 0:28, did you see those boom arms?? those are llooooooooonggg

  • not over excited about the drumming on this but i really like the sound of their kits, really old school classic rock drum sound, also reminds me of how The Melvins drums sound on recordings nowadays.

  • If you don't know who Carmine Appice is then you shouldn't be commenting on great rock drummers.

  • Is this a drum off from a state mental hospital because there pretty good for a couple of mentally ill retards.Thank you for posting.

  • carmine appice is a rock legend listen to the song "lady" by beck bogert and appice hes awesome

  • I think it's safe to say drumming has progressed a bit since these guys' heydays.

  • Back in 76' Carmine sounded great when he gave a clinic in Helsinki while touring with Rod Stewart....

    yeah, it's been a while!

  • carmine appice. fucking ron jeremy of drums.

  • i play like that and im not famous....

  • Uglyyy!!!

  • i think both mfs rock the fuk out here, sounds pretty raw

  • wow I am not a fan of this at all

  • well, this video makes them look bad...but theyre great drummers and im sure its the sound quality

  • Anyway, happy 64th b-day, Carmine!

  • Carmine Appice is the best rock drummer ever, period. The bad sound is due to the recording - NOT the playing...but they really should change hair dresser...; -)

  • Carmine, thanks for all the years in the drum world. I know you would appreciate

drummings new "big thing". MMA's Ray3handssnow. (google the site).

Hes a freak and simply changing the instrument...

  • Carmine you suck the biggest shit ever,, you suck so bad, moron you should be embarrassed to play like that in public worthless P.O.S. hang your self loser

  • all their equipment sounds bad

  • Vinnie and Carmine are AMAZING Drummers it's a shame that(As far As I know) they've never been in the same band together =(

  • the sound sonds very original classic col fresh sound vintage whoo ever thinks they sound horrible can not drum

  • Most younger drummers could never comprehend how amazing Vinny Appice is as a drummer and his drums sound killer. If behind music you would realize it,

  • Overrated, both of them

  • Vinnie's fat

  • @taypax so' are something like 80% of american children.

  • @XuliusCaesar thanks for the update

  • @taypax well, you were stating the obvious, so I thought I'd post to you in the same vein.

  • mom where's the fucking milk !!

  • "By the way bro - you're adopted."

  • I guess a lot of people in the comments have never heard a Cactus (or vanilla fudge) record, or Dio for that matter.

This is how a lot of solos sounded in the era of cactus (and before)

I love the sound of Vinnie's playing on almost every Dio track. It's unique yet basic.

  • All of you jelous losers are a bunch of monday morning quarterbacks who don't even know how to beat your own meats!!!!

  • Looks like two fucking Tarzan wanna-bee's on drums.

  • I remember these Guys from Dio and Blue Murder

  • Their drums sound like tin cans being hit by hammers.

  • Perhaps the most non-musical, unimaginative playing on the kit I've ever heard.

  • @pooperscoopr69 their drums sound like garbage cans too.... even beginner kits sound better with tuning.....

  • @pooperscoopr69 ...not perhaps : IT IS ! Absolutely agree with you !

  • This is enough to make anyone say "oye vey"

  • I've heard some FIrst Act drums that sound better than these. If I close my eyes Id swear I was listening to a street drummer playing on garbage cans, buckets, and baking sheets for cymbals. This should have been called Battle of the Mullets.

  • I dont know who either of these guys are but this sounds like the neighborhood kid banging on his drums in the garage. John Bonham is rolling in his grave everytime this video plays.

  • @bruthaflo haha! Some great trolling there, man!

  • go listen dehumanizer fuckin losers

  • bAHA AAHAHH.

My 12 yr old Nephew sounds better than these 2 drug addicts. Please...you call this drumming?

  • they have alot to learn to be like the great Bonzo.

  • worst drum video on youtube

  • Both drum sets sound like crap

  • @Stickgeneral524 I agree...whoever the drum tech was for this I hope he lost his job.

  • Just keep telling yourself "it's the drums" not the drummers that sound dreadful !!

  • just outa intrest what are those white dots on the skins theyve both got em? n btw its not the drum kits its probly the audio mix the sound engineer is shit lol

  • @gluv1 Those are an older style of drum heads from REMO. They used to have white dots, black dots and silver dots. Added strength and a little muffling to the head. Used to be very popular.

  • 2:16 was a hilarious transition! Its like a bit tame then all out insanity XD

  • Nothing worse than aging rockers that sound awkward.

  • la wea mala

    igual de pajeros !

  • se la rifan los dos Appice

  • Que fiazgo tocan como amateurs jaja

  • I am a huge Sabbath fan, but i don't like Vinny's style of drumming. Mr. Bill Ward and drummming god Cozy Powell are much better.

  • This is horrible.

  • Do I Know u????

    Do u Know me???

all i know is tht ur a WEAK DRUMMER!!!!

btw,iam michael appice jr.ur long lost fcking GRANDson.unlike YOU!!

shave ur moustache wth ur drumstick!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Additionally, their drums sound like tensioned plastic buckets. Vinnie's kick drums are facepalm-worthy

  • I don't understand why these guys are famous. They seem like the average well seasoned old dude who plays drums.

  • @YogritMUN omfg.

  • @YogritMUN they were on the right spot with the right grooves at a certain time.

  • @YogritMUN When you've played with all the top rock bands out there (Vanilla Fudge, The Rod Stewart Group, White Snake, Beck Bogart and Appice, Black Sabbath, etc... just to name a few) have written your own drum book that has sold over a million copies, have toured the globe as a professional drummer and have won accolades from drummers around the world through publications like Modern Drummer Magazine (ever hear of it?) then let us all know (LOL)!

  • @spercoco Vanilla Fudge and White Snake are "top rock bands?" Damn. Those poor music charts. What we realize more and more as the years go by is that anyone can get famous if they are really good at promoting themselves. Additionally, lots of people can get famous by being in the right place at the right time. Carmine Appice is an example of this buffoonery. He is a totally average drummer, and everyone kind of knows it deep down. And yes, I've been subscribed to ModernDrummer for years.

  • @YogritMUN Led Zeppelin opened up for Vanilla Fudge dude. I suppose Zep were not a top rock band? If you're going to make comments about rock musicians then know the history at least. You could turn around and say that Zep were not yet famous; it was their first tour. B.S.. because of Page's association with the Yardbirds who were already hugely succesfull and because he and J.P.J already were well know in the British recording industry they were a big sensation right from the start.

  • @YogritMUN The fact that they opened for the Fudge tells you how respected VF were. In fact Appice helped get Bonham his first deal with the Ludwig Drum Co. Aside from that look at the list of people he's played with. Your suggestion that it's just that he knows how to promote himself doesn't stand because do you think that these musicians like Jeff Beck would hire him if he wasn't on the same level as them? Why not promote yourself and see if you have half the success this guy has??

  • @YogritMUN Because they were in some of the biggest bands of their time. Vinny was in fuckin' Sabbath!

  • This video probably sounds good if it weren't so old, and if the micing and sound was better, and if there was no distortion.

  • AMAZING¡¡¡¡¡

  • how about the fact that this video upload is distorted and this was done many years ago and my copy sounds fine !!

  • how about maybe the upload is distorted and make the drums sound bad !!

  • well..I guess everyone wakes up in the morning. ;p()

  • It's sad that the sound is so aweful.

Better pre-work with all the micing and recording would be preferable =(

  • I cannot imagine as it were in house of its parents

  • both vinnie and carmine are terrible drummers.

  • @r0ccar1 idk about carmine. but i just saw Vinnie on the 21st...friday...he was doing a drum clinic and he was really great. i saw some videos on here of him and i didnt think he sounded too good but in person he was awsome and one of the nicest guys you could meet

  • Sorry. I enjoyed moments of Vanilla Fudge and I respect that these guys have a professional career, but that said, this is unfortunately, the most amateurish drumming I have ever seen attributed to supposed "drum stars". This is really God-awful.

  • This is really uncomfortable to watch.

  • uh..is that a wig???

  • Thought I'd give these two the benfit of the doubt and check this out.... I'm still not a fan of either one.

  • both sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @2910881 no you suck

  • Carmine Owns Vinnie. sorry Vinnie

  • @DJDrums23 yes in this but there is another that vinnie win vinnie to me is best than carmine

  • Wow this is the worst I've ever seen Vinnie Colaiuta. The fact that Carmine Appice is even comparable to him is enough to illustrate that.

  • i'm sorry this is not good no matter how you mic it or tune it....

  • this is a bad upload...can't you hear the whole thing is distorting...that's why it sounds so bad..

  • They're actually brothers.

  • Carmine Appice has great chops and I really dig his books... but this sounds terrible! The drums are tuned poorly and the solos are low quality...

  • Comment removed

  • @zardinho They're brothers, not father and son!

  • It wasn't the sound guy. They're playing on crappy kits. The heads, (crappy choice), were tuned quite loosely too. Clearly they were trying to achieve a certain sound. I don't like it either. I suspect Carmine was the mastermind behind all this; too bad for Vinnie. With all due respect to Sharmin, (although I pissed him off once and I wasn't even there to experience it - HA!), he's the master of simplicity. Seriously though, His book was great for me. Great starter book back in the 80's.

  • dead shits, theyre terrible

  • bill ward was on heven hell album is in my basement

  • i have 12 year old kids that i teach

that are just as good if not better

they do laugh all the way to the bank

    iam broke

  • Oof.

  • Hail Vinny Appice hey, hey!! Vinnie rules...thanks for your work with Dio, Sabbath, Heaven & Hell. Luckiest Drummer alive.

  • Their drums sound terrible
