The melody used in the music is actually "If we Hold Together." It was used in The Land Before Time, and performed by Diana Ross in said film. It later appeared on her album The Force Behind the Power. The part here was lifted for James Horner's score for TLBT, though.

It's called "Sampling." It's where someone takes existing pieces of music, chops them up, and makes a new one out of them.
