  • I just realised.. 3:07 " We may mount the camera with a fast glass like the 85 f/1.8".. Uhh you mounted an 85mm f/1.2L on there. 1.8 doesn't have a red ring around it and you put the 1.8 stacked on the 50mm haha

  • real men don't us caps

  • Let them be guys.. if they can afford to waste cameras, then let them be :) Sure it makes us cringe (I know I'd baby my 1Ds III if I had one).

  • hey noobs. real pros dont use caps.

  • @snowboarderrx Why not? Thats like getting a ferrari and washing it with shit cause your'e a pro? More like real cunts.

  • @snowboarderrx real talk

  • @snowboarderrx thug life.

  • @snowboarderrx so brave

  • GUYS! - Y U NO PUT CAPS ON LENSES AND BODIES?

  • Awesome gear, but incredibly irresponsible. I don't care if you have a ton of money, or gear, you should treat it nice and respectively. Get some caps for the bodies and lenses, jeese.

  • There is for almost 22000euro in that bag.,thats insane just for shooting some weddings or a politition on a news conference.

  • I'm a firm believer in travelling light. I mean who wants to waste energy travelling with so much bulky equipment, by the time you lugged it around you won't have any energy left to shoot.

  • u need batterygrips and batterys and stuff

  • @ncjhvsdfiyge Lovely thinking... would you like a pet dog for a pet dog too? The 1D/1Ds series has a built in grip. And what's the point of them having a kit without batteries? And should define stuff, because they have a lot of "stuff" in there.

  • @ncjhvsdfiyge Your retardation even surprises me.

  • @MIkeness101 your uglieness makes me laugh cause no one likes u.

  • @ncjhvsdfiyge See i know youre full of shit, because of the fact you have no idea what i look like, but i know how retarded you are because you asked for a battery grip on a 1D. Now i have a feeling youre just some kid who hasnt been far in the world of photography so im just going to let this one go.

  • I wish I swapped my case with this one at the airport...

  • And you forgot the pistol and the pound of money

  • 5:05 - "This believe it or not, is travelling light." ... BULLSHIT!!

  • Pros hardly ever use caps on their lenses due to the time it takes to remove them during a lens swap.

Dust on a lens is not usually an issue (but dust on a sensor is). However, photojournalists are there to make money taking photos, not preserve their equipment.

And yes - they tend to put them into lightweight bags with little protection - and can easily be dropped.

Just remember those things the next time you see used lenses for sale and wonder how anyone could beat them up. Now you know.

  • @awboater

I always keep my camera cap and the back cap for my lenses on at all times, even when I'm out shooting work, why ? As you said, dust on sensor is bad, a reason I keep my back cap on my lenses is 'cos if dust reaches there, it'll most likedly go into my sensor area. Definately don't want that, all my lenses have a filter on front, so I don't care about replacing a filter rather than having to replace the entire camera and lens 'cos it got screwed.

  • задрот

  • That is a lousy way to do it! it's far too easy to drop your equipment that way. lean to the left or lean to the right and you kiss something goodbye.

  • god.... "ny-kon" hate it.

  • They just wanna show off haha.

  • no caps! I bet his shots are dusty.

  • @Ronnelsky They probably clean their sensors and lenses every week.

  • don't drop it ;)

  • now I really don't want to become a pro .....

  • Travelling light yea right, my shoulders hurt watching you, nice information thanks for sharing.

  • This, believe it or not is TRAVEL LIGHT! :D

  • I'm pretty sure they clean their equipments once a week...

  • Um, you just leave your gear on my door step.. please and thank you? ;)

  • Advanced English: the difference between "we" and "I".

  • it physically hurts, that i cannot afford the 1/20th of this gear, and almost the whole equipment is unprotected from dust...

  • Fuck, even the 1DSs are not capped...

-"Hi,my name is dust.I have come to destroy your kit.May i come in?"

    -"Yeah, sure dude.You're always welcome"

  • @janchrzciciel Have you ever heard of "sensor cleaning

  • @janchrzciciel SENSOR CLEANING EXISTS so just remove the comment

  • @cubeproduktion Uhm...no?If you mean the sensor cleaning in the camera, which just moves the dust around then think again.

  • @janchrzciciel No I mean cleaning the sensor manually, by yourself.

  • @janchrzciciel And we photographers are like what the fuck body why did you let him in??

  • @janchrzciciel 1D's are dust coated

  • on your 70-200 do you have IS?

  • @NJSantiago

you can kiss my ass, you dumb amateuristic motherfucker..keep on playing with your midrange zooms, your bs-toycamera´s and keep on posting at dpreview, with questions, why you never have any sharp pictures.. it is not your gear, it is all about yourself, you silly motherfucker!! even my grandmother knows more about photography than you, lame ass..LMFAO!

  • @sjinouck Your language and attitude show you are not worthy of the equipment you use.

  • @agoradzwn

i don´t care what you think..

just sick and tired of all the measurebators , hanging around on the internet, who think they know everything about photography, but instead know all too much about gear..don´t tell me, are you afraid about a dead pixel somewhere, a little scratch, lens-sharpness or some dust on your sensor?

  • @sjinouck Hey, I hear ya! The comment you made that I responded to, however, was just horrible. It was the one that began,

"you can kiss my ass, you dumb amateuristic motherfucker.."

Sort of ironic to call some one "amateuristic" when you talk like that.

  • @agoradzwn all pro gear is insured, and is used to make money.. if you miss one important shot, because you had to take the caps off first, then you won´t get the money, or the shot you were assigned for.. 1dmkIII´s, 1dmkIV´s and 1dsmkIII´s can take more beating than most people think..same goes for the nikon equivalents.. caps are silly, unusefull and not handy.. even if there is dust on the frontelement, most of the time, you wont see a thing.. sensorcleaning is a daily procedure for me.

  • @NJSantiago

whatever... i do my thing, in the way i want to, and my expositions on various locations and the people, who are happy to pay me for the things i do or create, are also happy.. again, you are talking about gear again..start to talk about photography.. wich is much more difficult, than jabbering about gear and discussion about lenscaps or not or how lenses should be treated..using higer level gear isn´t a privilege to me.. i use what is needed to get the job done..

  • @NJSantiago

buying a leica also doesn´t improve your photographic skills..buying a 1dmkIV doesn´t neither.. cameratesters make photographs of brick walls and so on.. and start to write about it.. some people read this crap, and start to believe this...the real world out there, is much different..

  • @NJSantiago

my family are not my clients, what do you think?? and there is nothing ´privileged´ about having the need to use pro-gear when you make money with your photography.. a formula 1 driver also uses the best of the best, and races his car, like a pro, because he gets paid to do so..and win..the toolbox from a mechanic at your local servicestation is also way better, than yout toolbox in your shed..you want to know why? it is because he needs these tools to finish the job..

  • @NJSantiago

well, let me tell you something, homeboy.. i make more than enough with photography, and my clients are more than happy, so, you may keep on whining about how pros do their thing , buy all available lenses you can afford, start to polish them, and keep on making crappy pics, throw them on some bullshit photoforum, and keep on discussing about lens-sharpness, pixelpeeping and other amateuristic crap..cheerz!

  • @NJSantiago

i am a photographer for 30 years by now, so i think i know what i am talking about..

  • THIS , BELIEVE IT OR NOT, IS TRAVEL LIGHT ! I LOVE IT

  • @NJSantiago

for a professional photographer there are other rules..a camera or lens is a tool, not something to collect, like most of amatuers or gearheads with too much money do nowadays.. the job has to be done, it´s the pics that count, and make the money. after some time, you can write the camera and the lenses off, and you buy another one..to make money again.. this is not a hobby for the guys and girls who do this every day..this is a job, and a way to make a living..

  • i also never use caps, too time-consuming while on the job..this vid is a lot of crap, nobody wants to walk around with all this gear at one time..2 camera´s, a 24-70 and a 70-200 is all you need..

  • @sjinouck Well, soner or later you will notice that when your bodies and lenses brakes up and that would have prevented by using caps. Then you notice another thing....3000-4000$ to waste...thats lots of cash and I won't give it away just for that. Its same thing: Don't use caps or take a lighter and light up a pile of money (3000-5000$).

  • @FinlandApollo

guess what? none of my stuff breaks down, lenscaps or not.. been shooting in the snow yesterday, and everything worked perfectly.. nothing breaks down here, no matter what i do.. people are too much worried about their gear.and i still never use caps..LOL! i shoot with nikon, canon, minolta, sony, olympus..even with leica.. been in harsh winterplaces like kiev in winter @ minus 30 celcius.. even the crappiest camera still works under these circumstances..wake up, dude..

  • @sjinouck People are worried about their gear because everybody doesn't want to spend 4000$ for another time to same item...Some guys just don't have so much money to spent. And gear can break up. If you drop the lens and it hits to rock bottom first, cap would have protected the lens.

  • @FinlandApollo

this spring, i accidentaly dropped my camera with the 70-200 2.8 attached to it.. the lens broke off the mount, destroying the camera, but the lens survived... no caps were used, if the frontelement is destroyed, this is reasonably cheap to have it fixed.. if some things are internally damaged, it is much worse..good insurance works pretty well too..best is not to drop anything..

  • @sjinouck But how about when you change lens and the lens slips from your hand and hits to rock with mount end first ( I know, this doesn't happen very often, but chance is a chance) and then the back elements brakes. That will be expensive to repair.

And Yeah, insurance works, but in some countries insurance doesn't cover this and they say "you could have prevented this bla bla bla"

I don't curse you that you don't use caps, but to amateurs, use caps!

But do you use body caps?

  • @FinlandApollo

when you need to change the lens, you need to take off the cap, because otherwise, you can´t put the lens on the camera..i only use bodycaps, when there is no lens attached to it, but normally there is always a lens on my camera´s..one camera with a wide-angle zoom, and one camera with a telezoom.

  • @sjinouck Oh thank god :D But I can say caps are good way to protect gear. But I can say it is the dumbest thing to do is that you don't use bodycaps, dust can ruin your sensor and your pics.

  • @sjinouck keep dreaming. having them all open all the time will lead to fingerprint oils and dust all over them! (the front end protected by a UV is okay this way) but handling and carrying unprotected glass this way WILL definitely eventually have a detrimental effect on any fine optical instrument.

  • why in the hell do you not use caps?? JUST WHY?!!!

  • you guys must have a lot of money not putting caps on your rear elements

  • WOW HOW TO FUCK OVER 20G'S OF EQUIPMENT

IF YOU HAD FILTERS ON THE FRONT ELEMENT NO CAPS WOULD PROBABLY BE OK BUT HAVING NO CAPS ON THE REAR ELEMENT IS A GUARANTEED WAY TO COMPLETELY FUUUUUUCK THE SHIT OUTA YOUT GLAS

AND ALSO NOT USING CAMERA CAPS WHATHEFUCK COMMON MAN ONCE YOU GET DUST ON THE SESNOR YOUR FUCKED!!!

ARE YOU GUYS FUCKED IN THE HEAD OR WHAT

  • Thanks for sharing information, but the isn't a proper understanding between the speaker and the camera.

The second camera from the left is making him look dull(speaking against the direction of camera).

  • haha that would suck if that suitcase got stolen.

  • #1-No caps on anything CMON!!! Keep a lens on those cameras

#2-Why need more than the 70-200 f/2.8 L and the 24-105 f/4 L? Its more than enough for my dad's 5D mk II (probly the 1Ds MarkIII Small version)

#3- 3 flashes?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I bet you dont use 2 of em.

#4- I would only carry 1 prime lens- That being the 100mm Macro or the 85mm f/1.2 L

  • im crying for those poor cameras

  • you are an Idiot. your glass man. RETARD

  • Ahhhhhhh no caaaaaaaaps what the hell?!

  • why dont he have caps on any of the lenses? and WORST, the cameras!

  • @ChristianEvolution cause every season they buy brand new equipment and throw out the stuff form the year before that way you always have new and nice equipment

  • No caps = FREAKING DUSTSTORM!

  • nobody takes so much equipment with him while on the job..this is only good for your chiropractor... a lot of pro´s never use the caps..so son´t worry about that..

  • filters beat caps.

  • @bentzvi07 caps beat filter specially on the fucking body!! there "pros" right? why the fuck dont they put there caps on?

  • Dear god... More equipment than any one man needs, worth a sh*tload of money, and he doesn't protect ANY OF IT. "We'll just sit it in this bag. Screw lens caps (front or back) or body caps on our TWO top of the line Canons." Wtf man. Wtf.

  • holy shit i don't understand that! no covers :O

  • why no lens caps: because its hell lot faster to change them without caps, the bad thing about is, when you are photographing in some places with high humidity and dirt you end up getting the dust particles in to the CMOS sensor and inside the lenses, i have the 1ds mark III and i use the lensecaps, and i use them because i want perfect shots and that can only be achieved by clean equipment

  • hmmm... no body and lens caps... the advantage is that you can access quickly your gear, but the down side is having dusts all over the body and lens. but, i assume that he might have a good cleaning accessories with him. and anyway, his camera have a good anti-dust features, and the lenses he have had a seal.

  • NO body caps :o.

  • did anyone consider that he might of taken all the caps off just to make this video

  • @stevedrummond1 It's faster not to have any caps on. When they need to take a picture, they don't have time to take off the caps or anything like that. And they make so much money on the business, the equipment is easily replaceable.

  • @stevedrummond1 exacly

  • @stevedrummond1 What would be the point of that? Having the caps off for any amount of time isn't smart.

  • Are you a professional?

  • @davidnjl no. With that kind of equipment, it's probably just a hobby!

  • He is one of the fuckers who borned golden spoon on his mouth so that why he isn't using caps

  • @NJSantiago LOL!! "Hey stupid"LOL! (remember southpark imagination land, episode2? " WAKE UP STUPID!")

  • AHHHHH WHY ARENT THERE ANY COVERS?

  • @NJSantiago Hey stupid, there is no time to put caps on or take them off when you are a professional constantly in high profile/pressure situations.

  • and if i had L series lenses i'd always have caps on them.

  • I dream about a set like this :)

  • @ITTS94 yeah me too, only with lens caps lol

  • you don't honestly bring all that along do you O.O

    it seems like a waste...

  • @NJSantiago it's sad to watch

     isn't it.

  • No caps? I wish I had his equipment. I would give it a loving home ;)

  • no caps

    1) pros can afford it.

    2) Its a lot faster switching lens without caps :)

    try it.

  • u keep the back off the lenses???

  • I'm really stunned these lenses don't have caps on it..

  • oh dear... why is there no caps....

  • So...much...glass

  • It doesn't matter... I'm a fashion photographer, I don't need to work fast, but I don't care about lens caps, just hoods on. Lenses aren't made of butter...

  • I'm looking into buying the 135mm f/2 L soon.

  • i want one!

  • ohey $7000 camera, ohey $10 body cap

  • what bag is that at the begining

  • @Techintel

thinkTank airport security - rolling cases/carry on cases

  • @Techintel ThinkTank Airport Security

  • who cares if he's using caps or not...it's his kit - why bother worrying about it!? I know more working photographers that don't particularly use lens caps, than 'enthusiast' that do! When working quickly and efficiently, sometimes you'll be swapping primes all the time. The majority of the time the caps will be off, so whats the difference?

    @dano415

What are you talking about, he's using a dedicated camera/lens bag - The material doesn't scratch, and it's padded! Officiously not that stupid!

  • i agree with you. another point is that who knows, the kit he's using might actually be the company's kit. he works for a press company. did you noticed that he never uses "i", he always uses the word "we" so its presumable that he works for a company, and is using the company's kit, which is most likely insured.

  • so lens caps or no lens caps, it doesn't matter. what matters is the results. if it comes to a point when the kits get dirt or damaged, THEY've got more than enough money to have their gears cleaned or fixed.

  • these are my responses to

    scaredweepel

  • @N6600 No, he treats his cameras as if they were people, that or he is got an imaginary friend!

  • @TERRANCIO well, we all do have our own presumptions. i too, disagree with having no caps, but what can we do, they are rich people. lol

  • Sorry, but looks like there trying to impress clients

with Lenses. After all what essential piece of equipment

does a Professional Photographer need in the field:

A Working Spouse. And I'm sorry, but not bothering to

put a camera cap on is just Lazy. I get the lens caps--

A "artist" can't be bothered with menusha? Why bother with bags too begin with? Just throw all your equipment in a mesh divers bag--you can see everything.

  • @dano415 i agree !

  • Travelling light..... come back lighter if you aren't carefull.

  • have fun with the dust with no caps

  • lol, nothing is capped

  • @aznbutteredtoast I think it's to be fast

  • mało sie nie zesra

  • I hope he only remove the caps for the video or dust, sand, humidity and what else is around. :(((

  • My guess is that they don't use caps so they can switch lenses quicker. But it's stilll really stupid to treat your equipment like that.

  • My background is photojournalism.

    In general..you can't be messing with lens caps..or at least I can't.

Of course, when not using my equipment I cap the back of each lens, primarily due to dust problems.

  • Thats actually extremely stupid to not use caps, Especially the backs, they have dust guards but it still gets in there, finger prints, and scratching is a big factor...why the hell wouldn't you put caps on a 35L or 24-70 or 70-200....and the Ds bodies, thats a joke...

  • I've been shooting professionally for 20 years.

    I never use lens caps.

I do use filters which protects my glass.

    To each his own..

  • The filters I can understand, but I'm sure you keep a cap on your spare body, right?

  • poor guy. He couldnt afford to buy caps. After a while he can get additional f-stops by cleaning the lenses.

  • Where's the protection caps? you're going deliver pictures with dust spots all over them to your client...HHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA

  • dust on lenses will not show up in the photos, even small dust specs on the sensor wont show shooting at wider apertures (panning yes, stopped way down like f16-f22 yes) anyway I am sure his stuff gets cleaned after or before each assignment so dust will not be an issue.

I work with multiple bodies and lenses, unfortunately I only have 2 hands, I cant call a time out, cant stop and set my bag down to carefully swap everything around, cant stop shooting so I cant afford to use caps either.

  • yeah but for traveling and storage, you still want to have lens caps on. i can understand during a shoot not having any lens caps on thats fine but when you arent even using your equipment you would still wanna keep lens caps on for added protection, its better to be safe than sorry.

  • there are caps on some lenses but not on both sides.

So he may lost them?! HaHa

  • Whats wrong with you??! Protect your lens and cameras! They make them for a reason!

  • I am a pro shooter of 16 years. I use caps. I renew my cams every three years. I still use caps. My cam bodies are trashed but the glass is pristine. NEVER put glass into a bag without caps on

  • that look like very good video.. ingore other stupid/silly comments.. :-D can you do subtitles? cos i am deaf :( manny thankss

  • WOW you're stupid you dont even use caps on the Cameras!!!

  • What?? At 3:05 he said he mounted the 85 1.8 but it was the 1.2. LMAO.

  • I noticed that too but didn't say anything in case there was a 1.8L at some point? =/

  • why would anyone store lenses in a bag with no cap at all what so ever, i sure wouldn't

  • is really hurt to see he store the camera and lens....poor equipments!! I think the equipments would like to choose another owner who more appreciated them, not this stupid guy!!

  • totally agree. what a stupid commercial with another fake pro

  • You picked the wrong guy...

He happens to be very much a pro (we have a few of the same clients) and he has put out a book on Business practices for photographers which is a tremendous gift to the Pro photo community.

  • PLEASEEEEE USE CAPS

  • @SteveBocaranda i think you used enough CAPS for all of us.

but i agree USE YOUR DAMN CAPS!

  • kit for Rich lucky man

  • Good call..no caps...not even on body...wtf.

  • yeah... thought the same... well... poor sensor.. covered in dust -. -`

  • John i love the videos, keep up the good work mate, your inspiring me

  • WOOOH THEY SURE LOVE DUST

  • this dude is a fucking idiot... who wants to learn which equipment to put together like this... if u have all of this, u dont need to know how to carry em around...

  • This is part of the photography workflow, people actually pay money to learn this ..

  • i would pay a buck for this tutorial...

  • They don't care about it either. It's their hammer, it's insured, they can pay new ones easily. Why would they bother?

Ofcourse, they should do it differently, but for them it isn't a big deal.

  • If he fell over like that, he will break somthink with those cameras like that :o

  • These guys must be retarded, why would they even consider leaving the back-cap off when carrying the stuff around?

  • Canon must make a new lense the 85 1.8L, brilliant.

  • it's 85 1.2 L

  • since when the 85 f1.8 is an L? 3:05

  • also have a lot of money

  • I also cant believe there are no caps on at LEAST the bodies! what the hell are they thinking

  • I can't believe my eyes.... no caps or covers on anything!

  • @Photographer35 Seriously! I was just going to mention that!

  • @Photographer35 Thats because these guys are SO good at what they do, they could buy 5 of them a day without blinking an eye.

  • @Photographer35

    what a dick

  • traveling light.

    lol.

and I thought my gear was heavy...

  • oh god i would kill to have that camera
