    Yngwie Malmsteen

  • yngwie malmsteen or michael angelo batio

  • @7blueblood MAB.

  • this is soooooooooooo SHIT :( where's the rhythm, the soul and the tune? sounds like a robot being raped by a viking

  • @kain50144 thanks for turning me on to Andy James. Great stuff. Really like his originality. Malmsteen set the bar for all who followed.

  • Everyone has guitarists they love and hate.. but.. how can anyone deny that this is the best sweep picker on the planet?

  • @TheYostinator easy. andy james. google or you tube search

  • I don't think I'm the only one who's totally not impressed by Yngwie

  • Yngwie or Michael Romeo?? or rusty cooley ??

  • worst solo ive ever heard

  • Its not necessarilly how fast you can play, but how well you can create a mood.

  • I Don't Like Fuckin donuts!!

  • if u can play this, you can play all songs by Yngwie!

  • pffttt...i dont like any of his songs...and he seems like a cokehead douchebag to me.....Paul Gilbert, Buckethead, hell even John 5 own him..atleast their songs have more hooks and feel

  • @darksorcerermusic no, you don't like his songs so thats why you think these guys are better, but all of his songs aare full of catchy hooks, you just don't like the style and none of those 3 are better, paul gilbert is probably on the same level and maybe the other two.....

  • That was awful... is his someone elses playing dubbed over... coz ... its bad. VERY bad.

  • @YonOtto he messed up in the beggining, but he's also playing a cheap mg series amp, no one can make those sound good playing fast....i've tried

  • for me is important to hear and feel the heart of a person in her/his instrument, not how many notes in a sec. or a perfect technic

  • @TheLadyMarguerite he's been doing it for 40 years, his heart is obviously in it, i'd love this kind of stuff, because i don't listen to the speed of it, i listen to what he's playing and how each note is related to the others, this just isn't your favorite music, but thats your opinion and it doesn't mean he doesnt have feeling or soul.

  • @westjt17 yeah, I know that he's an expert and for many people - especially other guitar players - he is THE MASTER, but as you said, his kind of playing is not my taste, I am missing something ..... I didn't want to put him down.... sorry

  • Actually I respect Yngwie a lot but this stuff sounds like crap

  • It's a finger exercise, not music.

Go fuck yourself, you fat swedish meatball.

  • @Maafa1619 lol

  • @Maafa1619 finger exercises are the building blocks to effective artistic expression...one note is music dumbshit

  • @TrollRaper69 Finger exercises, without rhythm or feeling and in lieu of actual music, is heavy metal. It's rubbish for trailer trash like you. Enjoy.

  • @Maafa1619 your level of retardation is next to HIV/AIDS in top worldly issues,if Darwin were still alive he would be studying you in a cage as evidence of evolution in regression...your just jealous that you cant play one musical note fuckface...go shit yourself a twinsister

  • @Maafa1619 Fuck you Benjamin dont be a dick...

  • @Maafa1619 most heavy metal guitarists are classicaly trained, and this is just a shred solo, it's not a song what do you expect him to do, i guarantee you could never do it so don't hate on it, bc your ability is inferior

  • for all you guys saying that yngwie is cocky...well,wouldn't you be?!?! I mean one thing is to be yngwie-cocky,another thing is to be slash-cocky,if you know what i mean

  • longest "commercial preparation" ever!!!

  • Nobody has the right to be cocky. Let your playing do the talking and thats all you need. Take paul gilbert for example, he is amazing and probably one of the best in the world but the dude is so modest and treats everybody the same. Music is a way of expression, not a competition.

  • if the competetive element were removed then they would never achieve the the level they do..i mean come on,who doesnt wanna sound better than the next guy...

  • wheeedly wheeedly wheeedly wheeedly wheeedly wheeedly wheeedly WHEEEEEEEEE wheeedly

  • The Grand Daddy!

  • @hedgehog1965uk lol that is pretty funny, but yeah my main point was just that people shouldnt judge yngwie's musicianship by his personal attitude, all i see is people saying he sucks as a guitarist just because they personally dont like him

  • The difference between Yngwie and the other shredders is that he does it with emotion and feeling.

  • @SLASHdaROCKER rhoads was a great guitarist as well, but people dont know that yngwie has overcome alot, in the early 80s he was in a bad accident and was in a coma and suffered nerve damage in his right hand and was told he'd never play again, i think with this accomplishment he earned the right to be a little cocky

  • Yngwie's good, but, in all honesty, once you've heard "Black Star," you've basically heard all his songs.

  • @SomewhereFarBeyond29 i agree man hes really boring to listin to. he has awsome technique tho noce the less

  • @SomewhereFarBeyond29 Aww, come on, if you're going to do that to Yngwie at least pick "Trilogy" or "Icarus' Dream Suite". Let his best work speak for him.

I don't disagree with you -- Yngwie's harmonic choices are limited and predictable. But they're not so limited as "Black Star".

  • @SomewhereFarBeyond29 Thats the most retarded statement ever conjured from the mind of an imbecile... yngwie has evolved into an entirely different artist over the years (for better or worse)...you apparently have no clue...Black Star is an instrumental power ballad of which yngwie hasnt made many but dont limit him to black star..do some research atleast...you are apparently somewhere far beyond

  • @SomewhereFarBeyond29 I get your point. But then again, I could say that all blues-music sound the same (12step shuffle or whatever), or todays pop music? I sure don't hear much difference.

  • @D3adMetal Yngwie just doesn't really provide anything memorable to me.

  • @SomewhereFarBeyond29 not really, blue majestic, crying, or blue.....and i don't remember the names, but there are old demos of his from when he was like 15 or 16 playing more classic rock style

  • @SomewhereFarBeyond29 Em ftw ...

  • @pp152152 What?

  • @SomewhereFarBeyond29 yeah agree on that and im a fan of malmsteen

  • @fouremoi Yeah, he's good, and I think some people aren't understanding my comment (maybe they are), but some complain about it. What I mean is his playing sounds the same. His songs can sound different, but anytime I hear him play, it's always the same.

  • @SomewhereFarBeyond29 To me that's something positive, he really is unique and you can hear it's him after the first few notes. I mean, after all, all good guitarists has this ability - like beck, hendrix, guthrie govan, shawn lane and so on... You know who is holding the axe after the first note is hit.

  • @SomewhereFarBeyond29 Everyone has a style. Keep in mind, that no one play like Malmsteen.

  • @Kreimehn No, they play better. Example: Paul Gilbert, though he probably has a lot of Malmsteen influence.

  • @SomewhereFarBeyond29 I agree %100!!!!!!

  • I have no idea how to pronounce his name xD

  • @thylegion Yngwie Malmsteen: Ing-vay Malm-steen. I pronounced it wrong for years too.

  • @SLASHdaROCKER Thanks! :)

  • Is it just me, or does seem like 80% of the people commenting has the attention span of a potato?

  • brblblrblbrlblebrbelbrlbrlebrelrbiiiiiiiiiibrlerblebrlerbelreiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiiiii bbrlebrlebrei!!this man can play shit!but for God's sake put some melody damn it!

  • Every thing he plays, is a guitar solo. =P hehe

  • his style is unique... evh and malmsteen are both great!

  • he started playing without the volume 0:03 LOL ....

  • Ahhh. That is so refreshing to hear! :D

  • yngwie is the best

  • try yeling at him .. during one of his concert on stage with thousands of his fan. and yell at him telling him his no talent and suck.. if any of you haters have the balls to do it...

  • No ahy mejor guitarrista que el que toca con amor

  • malmsteen never did anything for me....personally i would like to see DIMEBAG bust him over the head with his Dean ML....

  • ok im not going anywhere. Now when is that metal show coming back on?

  • stop fight dudes, Vai and Malmsteen styles are so diferents; and we know that they are two of the best in the world.

  • I kinda prefer the blues

  • I kinda prefer the blues

  • Randall William Rhoads is my favorite guitarist, but Mr Malmsteen is a close second.

  • Steve Vai > Malmsteen

  • @Xerosnake90 Vai is boring.

  • @AmericanThunder Now, not to take anything away from Malmsteen. But did you REALLY just say that Vai is boring!? Vai has more diverse guitar playing than pretty much any other guitarist on the planet. If you think Vai is boring and like Malmsteen, tsk tsk. I don't even know what to say.

  • @Xerosnake90 I've been playing guitar since the mid-1980s, I learned on Randy Rhoads in the beginning. Yngwie is completely different, and I enjoy that difference. But Vai always bored me. Regardless of what a bunch of fans say, I've listened to him, and it's just "eh". Yeah, he's skillful, so he's surely a good teacher, but as for excitement in his playing, it just does nothing for me.

  • I need a towel.

  • my face is melted

  • Yngwie is FAR from my favorite guitar player, Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth being my favorite, but Yngwie is more technical and overall better than most guitar players out there.

  • don't let that speed fool you. there is a ton of feel there. on a side note, i did meet him a few times in the 90's and he was a complete prick. to top it off, during a show he had 2 giant mirrors set up on either side of the stage and he kept looking at himself and flicking picks at the mirrors...NOT AT THE AUDIENCE! good player though.

  • This guy spent his whole life becoming a God, and in 1 year nicki manaj makes more money...

  • i think my guitar teacher might have been friends w/ this guy once

  • Sounds like all of his "songs"...

  • The same old tired licks from 1983. Everybody else evolved but YJM has been in a time warp for 30 years.

  • The selection of licks was rather disparate. Didn't sound like he tried the least to string them together... o_o

  • @retro7018 ..for real try playing some of this infront of 10,000 people , and exactly with his stage presence and energy! may be then you'll come to know what feel is!

  • @metalgodmaiden Feel has nothing to do with emotion or any of that bull shit. It has to deal with just how well a musician is able to float around their instrument. Basically someone with feel improvises melodically and almost instinctively. And to be honest, Yngwie has as much feel as any of the guitarist retro named off. And you can tell, because you "feel" it in his playing.

  • @retro7018 I basically agree. I like to listen to how clean he plays tho. within the style its quite articulate. Its weird but somehow it hooks me a bit how its very muscular and defined at the same time. its probably just technical fascination. Most others who do that style do it on guitars that are 10 times easier to play and they sound like plastic toys to me.

take angus over that any day

  • Comment removed

  • @retro7018 i agree

  • @retro7018 so.. you're a hipster who can't play for shit is what you're tryin to tell us?

  • @museman91 Yep, I'd have to agree with you.

  • @retro7018 dude, you are honestly the only guy i've found on here who knows what's what. Some people are so easily pleased

  • @retro7018 go listen to Fugue by him and close ur fucking mouth! pendejo! u dont know know what feel means.

  • @retro7018 that stuff he was playing, some of the most difficult and technical stuff in guitar. Who gives a shit what you feel. I feel horny, but that doesn't mean anything.

  • @retro7018 I'd agree with you to an extent on modern Yngwie. His first solo album though, and his time with Alcatrazz was priceless. He used to have great phrasing and didn't overplay everything like he does now. He was also a lot less sloppy back in the day.

  • I dont get why every body complains about Yngwie's "ego"? He is a great guitar player and he knows it.... Once you have become one of the best guitar players around playing it modest really isn't an option because everyone would know otherwise

  • @br00talBronco2 Just because you're "one of the best guitar players around" doesn't mean you get to act like a dick.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green he doesn't "act like a dick" he doesn't belittle or say anything bad about other guitarists or genres of music, he just prefers his way and sure he tends to show off and be cocky, but if guitarists didnt show off then no one would have any drive to be better then anyone else and we would be left with a world of mediocre Kirk Hammet knock offs

  • @br00talBronco2 I disagree, in case you haven't heard of Randy Rhoads....

  • @br00talBronco2 Marty friedman, Jason becker, and id even throw John petrucci in there. None of them are egotistic.

  • @br00talBronco2 That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard someone say. I can name endless amounts of guitarists who, IMO are better than Yngwie, and that don't act all full of themselves like Yngwie does. Are you really trying to say that when you become a good guitarist, it's ok to have a huge ego and act cocky? Ignorance...

  • @MTAlupyourass

Nonsense!! Every great guitarist has an ego!!

Some just hide it better than others. Who cares if he is cocky??

    Yngwie is awesome, PERIOD!!

  • @epic103

lot of people obviously care if he's cocky

  • @Mastermind12358

    Why???

  • @epic103

    because its annoying

  • @Mastermind12358

    You are annoying!!

  • @epic103

oke, and youre a ignorant idiot.

  • @Mastermind12358

    Ditto!!

  • @epic103 I'm simply saying that being a good guitar player doesn't justify being arrogant. Ritchie Blackmore even said himself that "Yngwie is not Paganini, though he thinks he is."

  • @MTAlupyourass

1st. Yngwie isn't a good guitar player, he is a legend and icon!! He has helped shape modern rock guitar playing!!

2nd. Richie Blackmore is also arrogant!! Many people who have worked with Blackmore say he is very difficult to work with!! He has a big ego as well!!

But with that said, I love them both!! They are both great, and both are legends!!

Yngwie and Blackmore are my favorite guitar players!!

  • @br00talBronco2 It was more his ego during the late 70s and 80s. He treated people like shit, but has since cleaned up his act.

  • @br00talBronco2 he is an arrogant fucking douch bag that is in love with himself.

  • @br00talBronco2 that's why Randy Rhoads was so amazing. A better player than Malmsteen, and the most humble musician I've ever seen! It's not fair what happened to him. R.I.P.

  • @br00talBronco2 "Once you have become one of the best guitar players around....."

    LMAO!!!!!

  • @br00talBronco2 Why doesn't Satriani act like an arrogant dick then? He (Satch) was once asked in an interview how he felt about some fans calling him the greatest guitarist in the world and he replied that if he let that thought into his head for even a second, it would destroy him. Apparently Yngwie doesn't let that worry him. BTW, when I typed "Satriani" in here just now, my spell checker flagged it and the only suggestion it gave was "Satanist". Well I thought it was funny :)

  • @br00talBronco2 not true think about Joe Satriani

  • yngwie owns lol

  • Bad ass pants LOL

  • :37 you know that guy listens to Priest.

  • Poor guitar .... she got raped :(

  • @JTRiffs Well they did ask "If you don't mind" =D

  • if you like, yngwie listen to the"RATA BLANCA" from Argentina

  • 0:36 start clapping if your a virgin!

  • Too much fuzz for the room he's playing in...do these guys ever soundcheck on here? Couldn't even tell wtf he was playing.

  • haters try to play like him then.

  • @fabss7 That is a rediculous comment. Disliking something doesn't mean you want to supercede or surpass it. I hate Charles Manson...should I go out and try to kill people more people than he did?

  • i wonder if he ever gets sick of playing strats all the time and just feels like playing with some humbuckers

  • Fuck Yngwie and his ego .

  • @MultiMetaldemon everybody has ego. so do you

  • this guy is great but he stole all his licks from uli roth, the true master

  • NO EMOTION OR FEELING OR SOUL REQUIRED

  • Gilbert is also in the same league...Mr. Big? Seriously??

Petrucci? Love SOME of DT's work...but again, like RUSH, you either LOVE 'em, or "don't get it".

Satch?? Like him also...but rather listen to his former student Steve Vai.

Oh...Rick Emmett(I think it's actually Rik?)was ALSO the lead singer and had one of the most distinct voices of the 80's.

  • And...

I saw YJM in '83 or so opening for Triumph. NOT impressed...lots of fast finger-banging, however Rick Emmett blew him away in his solo. And who is Rick Emmett anyhow...right?

  • By the way, who did you say you were again?

    I didn't...

    I started playing in 1977...

As I said...TECHNICALLY he's great. Not alot of appeal to the average music fan.

    Think RUSH...

  • Technically great...

However he's a "one trick pony" very limited to reaching beyond what he knows, thus the reason he's never really considered an "all time great" guitarist by any but his die-hard fans.

  • Maybe it's just my eye-to-brain sync but I'd swear he plays so effin fast - it takes me half a second to get the sound he produces after I see him doing it.

  • Typical Yngwie schredd :P. Still great though! He's a great improviser!

  • Why do people go to an yngwie video just to bash the guy? If you hate him to begin with why are you even here?

  • The best vibrato in the business.

  • Video plays delayed to the sound? the reason is that he plays faster than sound itself.

  • hmmm, not very clean...

  • @ACDCAJnl True. Over the years his playing has become less and less clean. On the other hand, I 'd hope that this was my ''not very clean''!! :P

  • 26 personas no valoran el esfuerzo y lo que cuesta llegar a esa velocidad

  • The way i see it, The better you are at something the more haters you will attract. So if you don't have haters, you are doing it wrong!

  • people that dont like yngwie are people who cant play bar chords

  • good & skilled guitarist do not critics others..but they learn more & more......yngwie indeed inspires many great guitarists..honestly i started playing guitar because of him, then i learn a lot from other great guitarists too until now..

  • Sorry dont get it. he may be good but i Like to listen To many others more

  • a guitar legend once said that he wanted to see guitar players create there own style and thats what yngwie has been doing for a long time with his shredding....granted im not into it i like blues/classic rock so this isnt my cup of tea but to say he is not a musician or a guitarist is childish because he is...and btw that guitar legend who said he wanted to see guitar players create there own style was Jimi Hendrix.

  • Yngwie is NOT a musician he is a stunt guitarist & his main stunt is playing fast. But for sure he has technical skill, even though musically he is very week - I can Fart more melody thanhe can play! Go to Uli Jon Roth seminar he is a musician & does not like 10 notes per second stuff!

  • @CloudsBeyond Who are you to say that he isnt a musician?

  • @CloudsBeyond Are you basing that from listening to his albums or just this solo? i agree, this was not melodic, but anyone remotely familiar with his career (especially the first ten years) would know he is a top notch musician. His knowledge of composition, counterpoint, harmonies etc is brilliant. And no one can touch this man's vibrato.

  • @StanleyKu Roth's vibrato is way better.

  • @tsaggarucci Wow.....I do NOT agree with that.

  • @CloudsBeyond I absolutely disagree with you. Have you a measuring instrument to measure musicianship? I really LOVE some of his songs. eg: "Hangar 18, Area 51" is a great melodic song. I just can't see your reasons.

  • @CloudsBeyond ive never heard so much bollocks!! mate are you like 10 years old or something cos that was one of the most immature statements ive ever heard in my life. To say that yngwie is not a musician is fuckin ridiculous!! open your mind!!

  • @manonmagiccarpet I speak facts, you speak direct from your bare arse you turdy faced Bell-End. Yngwie is a stunt guitarist not a serious musician! If you think the SHI-ITE he plays will be remembered alongside Blackmore (Deep Purple), Jimmy Page (Led Zep), etc you are a bigger returd than I thought. Bell-End, Bell-End, Bell-End!!!

  • @CloudsBeyond thankyou for confirming that you ARE infact and immature 10 year old that doesn't kno shit ;)

  • @manonmagiccarpet I have a Masters degree in Music, oh yeh I must know less than you lol. I speak facts, your judgement is clouded - if you stopped whacking over the Yngwie posters in your bedroom for a moment you'd maybe see that. I drop my underpants to my ankles & Bottom Burp fiercely in your general direction. You great big Bell-End!

  • @CloudsBeyond If you actually have a masters degree in music which i strongly doubt then you've just made yourself look like even more of a dick. Please keep talking...

  • @manonmagiccarpet are Yngwie's recent albums SHITE sound quality & production wise? YES! Or you want to claim otherwise??? Would his albums be so much better with a good producer + co song writer? YES! Or you want to claim otherwise? Because of Monster Turds like you Yngwie keeps releasing SHITE!Are many of Yngwie's tracks very note heavy? Yes! He could learn a lot from Uli Jon Roth on how one note can say more than a 100 by Yngwie (at 100mph). I drop my pants & Bottom Burp very hard at you.

  • @CloudsBeyond At the end of the day this all boils down to your opinion. To say that what you speak are facts, is not only wrong but incredibly arrogant. Admittedly Yngwie isn't one of my absolute favourite guitarists, but songs like far beyond the sun, blitzkreig, i'll see the light tonight etc are masterpieces in their own right and to say that they aren't the work of a musician just cos your not into the shreddy stuff is bollocks.

  • @CloudsBeyond Not to mention Yngwie's rendition of air by bach is just sublime, with some extremely creative phrasing, proving further more that you are just another arrogant prick on youtube who thinks he knows it all and that his taste in music is far superior to that of everyone else. In reality your opinion means nothing and you are just as insignificant as everyone else.

  • @manonmagiccarpet go play Yngwie's SHI-ITE to serious musicians try Professors of Music that have not heard of him before , they will tell you very unmelodic & unmusical. Yngwie is NOT a serious musician - he is not a good song writer or composer. Nothing wrong with playing fast, Yngwie plays fast largely a lot of shite, go listen to Uli Jon Roth (Beyond Astral Skies) & in the meantime suck on my chocolate salty balls you returded Bell-End!!!

  • @CloudsBeyond Interesting. Is that why there's a video of a symphony doing one of his songs? Black Star...

  • @DaveMustaineOwns I can get a symphony to duet with me farting, what is your point? He is not a musician. As you have Big Girly Mustaine in your name, I assume you think he is a good singer or player, or Megadeth are awesome (a metal band for 15 year olds or under!). Quit being a Complete Bell-End!
