Burlington, MA.: Hitachi Mall Escalators (Macy's) Burlington Mall, AKA "Orange Pavilion"

Both banks of Hitachi escalators here (Sears court, Macy*s court) have been modernized by KONE. MA Dep. Public Safety would not pass the Hitachi escalators and ordered that the mall bring them to comply with code. After it was discovered, the escalators were shut down putting intense burden on the elevators. I was there today and glad to see the escalators back open and running great, but KONE put their nameplate on there and got rid of the cool Hitachi. =(

What did they fail for?

KONE ripped out and replaced the Hitachis in Pheasant Lane, but that's because the mall portion is getting a major makeover.

@georgef551 Hitachi escalators do not meet US safety standards now for whatever reason. The Burlington Mall released a statement about the escalators a while ago.

I love these Hitachi escalators. These are so rare in this part of the country. I really want to know how they got the contract all the way up here in Burlington!

It was probably as the mall was being added to over time. As they did other sections, other companies won their sections. They apperently did not add a floor all at once.

Wow the Burlingon mall in Burlington Ontario has Motgomery in The Bay Dept store and a Schindler elevator near the food court our other mall has hatachi in the sears

There's a mix of elevators in this mall. Those are in the backlog. I'm more liberal uploading escalators.
