  • Of course the Budgie's glows it's under a UV Light. The heading of this video say's "Budgies DO glow in the dark!" Naturally without any light source they DO NOT glow in the dark.

  • How cute ♥

  • Your a fake budgies do not glow

  • Whoa thats really cool, yeah at the beginning he seemed pretty mad like ''GRR let go!!''. I cant beleive they glow, really cool!

  • Bet hes pissed @t you now, for holding him that way!! If you held ME that way, i would bite you in peices!

  • i have a budgie bird like hhow that budgie looks like but heis name is rupert

  • Draco is handsome!

  • That bird looked PISSED

  • he's a "bright" little fella xD but yeah i know that budgies see each other like this that's why they have the little black dots on their cheeks (face not butt LOL)

  • No such thing as an english budgie, Buddies are all native to Australia, they are only green in the wild, like saying a tiger is an Australian tiger because it is born here.

  • @marsape why yes there is. I know alot about budgies and becuse the English are very bigger the Australia budgie and have more cheek spots hense there are two main types of budgies English & Australin.

  • Ur right he isn't holding him right

  • Draco is one hansome fella! I have 4 english, they sure are beautiful!

  • Hmm I dont think your holding him propley

  • SWEET

  • Dont hold him he probably wants to peck you very hard.

  • how can u hold him like that?? my parakeet bites me when i pick him up

  • got to get em used to it lmao

  • I'm pretty sure that's a blacklight.

  • he looks so old and grumpy :(

  • Where did you get a uv light!?

  • You can buy them in any pet store. They sell it where the urine removal stuff is for dogs and cats.

  • Hey your english budgie draco looks so cute

  • @allmybudgies and they come in extreame handy wen u have 3 dogs and a bird :S

  • everything a light color glows in the dark under a black light!

  • you are choking the hell out of you budgie!

  • if you dont no what the hell your talking about why are you typing

  • i think that most animals dont have uv lenses like we do over our eyes, therefore they can see at night (uv wavelength is still around), and you just brought to my attention, that maybe it influences things like mating. thanks

  • Oh yeah and animals go blind faster because they dont have that lense protection.

  • Cool. They think birds and insects see in UV/blacklight wave length. Very cool, his head could be like a attractor for insects. Who knows.

  • OMG, i didn't know that!?

  • I knew this and I've been looking for a video of it in ages! Is so cool, is just too bad I haven't been able to locate an UV light to try it on my own :)

    Thanks for sharing this :)

  • 'we're gonna see how i blind him death with a uv light'

xD i wanna do it with my cockatiel

  • I can't help but laugh about how they always bitch from being held up, even if you're not actually squeezing or hurting them.

  • that is awsome

  • he looked so angry and bad but cute :)

  • mu budgie has covers put over the cage so i dont kno if myn glows but i ave 3 there names frosty kiwi and angel great film i gave it exelent!

  • male budgies glow more because its a type of mating. females can see the glowing and so the brighter it is to the female, the more attracted they are to the male. females have a different type of eyesight, so i dont think the uv hurts their eyes too much, i believe thats what they have. not so sure though. :/

  • a los periquitos no se les coge de esa forma

    y es NÖ AMAZING!!

    Its horrible

  • Careful, uv rays can be harmful to his and your eyes if subjected to it for too long.

He's gorgeous by the way! He ought to be entered into contests!

  • Wow, that's awesome! I had no idea they glowed!

How can you have an English budgie? I thought they were native to Australia? :)

  • they are but selective breeding has brought out certain qualities. American/English Budgies can be different colors than green and English have been bred so that they have puffy face feathers and they're bigger

  • WOW i never knew that they could do da!?!?!

5/5 i <3 budgies, and im a new budgie owner, i subscribed to you!!

  • cute

  • That's fantastic! I've seen the "phosphorescent" effect of budgies in documentaries, but never in a "home experiment"!

  • haha, yes that's very true that budgies see UV light.

    hes adorable :D

but does it hurt him the way you were holding him in the beginning of the video? It appeared he was being held tight..correct me if I'm wrong. Some things aren't what they appear :P

  • I held him relatively loosened up, but secure enough to not have him jump out of my hand. He was a bit miffed if I held him for so long by the time I got the camera recording. I wasn't fast enough and he lost his patience. LOL

  • That is so amazing. I never knew that, I wonder if Rocky glows in the dark. If he had his way, he would want to :)

  • how do you keep track of all there names??

  • All of them have a certain color, marking or trademark for me to remember them by easily.

  • that is so COOL!! DO THE ONES WITH WHITE HEADS GLOW THATS THE KINDE I HAVE. AND DO THEY ONLY GLOW UNDER THAT KINDE OF LIGHT?

  • The whites one I do have glow too, but not as greatly as Draco's does.

Any portable UV light will do. You can buy them at your local pet store (usually in the aisle where they sell cleaning solutions etc...)
