I found it. /watch?v=XQSF0Ag7Umc . You can't compare these two perfomances. Movies one is... Just better. Perhaps I should... Don't know... educate myself? Become more snobish and arrogant? But I really like movie's perfomance much better :( I am lost :/
I strongly believe I can understand difference between good opera and bad opera: I am like child, looking at King's New Dress. So I am saying: this dress is one I can not see. Uncnown actor in popular movie performed it better. It's like compare Revolutionary Studio played by Richter and Aya Nagatomi. You feel difference. Sorry again, guys. DISLIKE.
People, I am really sorry to interrupt your praises, I "Dislike" it. Not because it's bad, but... I must be honest, right? I like what I like and dislike what I dislike, right? I know I am an ignoramus, but... Let me get this straight: if some composition used in any popular culture (yes, Godfather3), you CAN NOT perform it professionally any worse than it was in that popular movie. Right? So. In Godfather, there was unknown performer and me, who is ignoramus, liked it better.

Seeing these Sicilian words in print makes me very proud of my Sicilian heritage; I grew up thinking that I spoke Italian, only to be shamed by the snobbery I've encountered, into realizing otherwise. Today, I am teaching myself proper Italian, but have also come to appreciate that the Sicilian Dialect is not only valid, but the product of Sicily's tormented past and survival of conquest and occupation by other nations; as with most language, it has evolved into a "living ethnic history".
I just came across this post. Thank you so very much! This is the first time I have heard the opera, although the Intermezzo and "Inneggiamo" have long been favorites of mine. A very touching story, lovely music, and beautiful performance.
I dont understand the words, so i dont know what they are saying exactly, but with music like this understanding the language is trivial, as the singers or actors can really bring the message over the borders of languages. I dont know what it is, but every time i hear the intermezzo for this opera i get an extremely strong emotional feeling and it's almost impossible to keep from crying.
Herbert Von Karajan is an icon in classical music, and this presentation is true among other wonderful regências this famous Maestro! Very Good!

I don't know why you're getting thumbs down, it's kind of true. It's not like you said "Godfather III was the only good thing about this opera!" The movie itself wasn't terrible but it was when compared to the other two.

This is translation of words Turiddu sings in sicilian dialect. It is named "Siciliana".
Oh Lola, you have milk coloured shirt
so white and red like cherry,
when you appear (at the window) put a smile on your mouth,
lucky whom give you the first kiss!
Amidst your door blood is sprinkled,
and I don't care if I die killed
and if I die and go to Heaven
whether I don't find you there, I don't even enter in.
