I remember seeing this advert shortly before the plane landed in Sydney in spring (late October) 2002. I had not seen the video before and had never been to Oz but the song brought me to tears. And the theme is reminiscent of two of the songs about my native city of San Francisco: the wandering one who longs for Home. An incredibly good advert and song - and an even better land. Thanks for posting it.

To be honest I prefer the Aussie anthem to the American anthem. The American one seems too 'pro-war' for my tastes.

America is a nice place, and I will confess the US anthem is fine, even inspiring, but no one seems to know the words :) .

I sure hope we don't change the Australian national athem to Waltzing Matilda. It's about a thieving bum who commits suicide rather than be arrested for heaven sakes!!

Pir, a lot of Americans don't really care for the American anthem. First of all, nobody can sing it. And second, nobody really knows the worlds after the first part. As far as Australia goes, the words to Waltzing Matilda prevent it from ever being your national anthem but if any song brings up images of Australia, it is that song.

No offense Australia however this song is much more worthy, noble, and majestic than your present national anthem. I just listened to the Australian national anthem, and quite frankly, it isn't very memorable. Being an American, let me just say that I think the Star Spangled Banner pretty much blows chunks also! America the Beautiful is much better. Other than that, AUSTRALIA ROCKS!!

This is true. If people do actually make an attempt to sing the American national anthem, they pretty much are humming it by the second line.
