  • You can find the full course in the Iphone/Ipad app "Itunes U" (All materials you need are also included.)

  • 51 people obviously went to U.C. Berkeley.

  • Mehran Sahami got to be the best proffesor ever :O , the candy part was really smart

  • Genius.

  • 51 people are from Harvard

  • The teacher reminds of a rainbow.

  • Downloaded these via iTunes - this guy is awesome.. I'm on lecture 20.. getting into GUI.. recent highlights include creating a MAP to correlate the key "Jenny" to "8675309" lolz.. I like it because I'm new to OOP so while he's making jokes I can code his examples on my second monitor

  • Great Professor!

  • This guy is so fucking epic. I hope I get a similar professor when I go to the university xD

  • @ShadowSky24 all u want people to know is that u are about to get to university: shut up!

  • @mohammedallamin86 What? You must have some serious problems....

All I said was that I hope I get a professor that is as awesome as Mehran.

I'm not about to get to university either, lol. That's another 2.5 years.

  • @ShadowSky24 Oh am sorry, just forgive me. am just playing, sorry please. wish u all the best in your studies and good luck.

  • @mohammedallamin86 Thanks.

  • I wana go to Stanford Uni now, even though alot of the classes are free on youtube lol :-)

    Thanks for the upload.

  • Mehran Sahami has the easiest exams on campus......he s a joke

  • @WtFTug4 Candy

  • Crap. I didn't meet the prerequisite. :(

  • is computer engineering hard?

  • @sim10on10 it has the lowest graduation rate in college today

  • @HexicStarcraft Computer engineering is not easy ,it's hard, but there are many harder engineerings.

  • Odd... this video won't play for me at all. None of this series will. Could it be US only?

  • @Alexin1derland you don't know what you are missing dude. download it

  • This class seems like a GREAT way to start learning this field. Has anyone found a way to watch the "Sections" that they descrive as being aired on Closed-Circuit Stanford channels? Thank you to both Stanford and anyone who can help answer that one for me!

  • I got a ++ on Breakout.

  • This is super interesting, but god, I'm so glad I have a pretty piece of paper that says i don't have to go to class anymore.

  • WANT TO LEARN PROGRAMMING? 41:30

  • He make me want to go to stanford!

  • wow, this guy makes my compsci prof. look like an idiot

  • !Adobe CS5

  • The lecture starts at 41:35. Everything prior is administrivia, and all you'd want to know is included in the video's description (unless you are a student at Stanford). You could probably skip to the second lecture without missing anything imperative.

  • @kramtark thanks for saving me time

  • 46 people accidentally fell on their "ON" button..."accidentally" turned on their PC...While getting up fell on it a few more times hitting random keys on their keyboard "accidentally" -->> arrived on this page on YouTube...fell one more time, this time discovering the mouse for the first time, fingers it a bit clicking "dislike" by "accident" stands up -->> this video is playing (WOW)...realizes that he/she is a clumsy idiot sits their watches this video and ends up with a "SPRAIN BRAIN"

  • I WANT THE CANDY WHO CARES ABOUT SPEECH CANDY

  • And he says 5-paragraph essays are 70's education at work? What would he think if he knew they still taught that shit.

  • @Aladoniss ohh. im def. going to be doing this when im older. no doubt about it. i cant see myself doing anything ealse at all.

  • how old are all of you.. im 14.. is that normal.. i only ask because im watching a video about a collage course :3

  • @PurpleGoatCraft that kid that said that is gay.

  • @GAMERundercover thanks for clearing up that ur not a pro >D pros dont talk shit.

  • @PurpleGoatCraft fuck off back to runescape. p.s. try to get laid.

  • Why he speaks so fast?

  • @vimorrison one word Cailforina

  • free stanford courses

    god bless america

  • @Illidan1337OG america?

  • im in Gr 12 and i've been freaking out because i thought people needed previews work with java and C++ ( experience).

I wonder if i actually need previews experience to do good on this course?

  • @MyDemonJester,

No, no previous experience needed. He says the only prerequisite for the class is that you can tell the difference between a computer that is turned on and one that is turned off. If you can do that, then you are good to go. I'm a little over halfway through the series and these videos are incredible and very beginner friendly. This is probably the best place to start as a beginner as you will save yourself a lot of headache later on trying to "unlearn" bad programming habits.

  • ha i dont even have to go to Stanford! Just visit youtube!

  • Is this for bachelor students or for master students...?

  • @Ferqan1 It would be hard to find undergraduate students at Stanford who are already married...

  • @elementu2011 is there any course for undergraduates like this?

  • good teacher

  • a school that is actually good, could use that over here XD

  • I would let him, butty my buiscuit any day! any time! he is soooo attractice just omg! i lurrvvv him!!! so sexy! i could watch this alll day. damn! :DDDD

  • He looks tasty! :D

  • he speaks so fast, if this video is made by subtitle video, it would be more complicating

  • I prefer this to MIT computer science lectures on youtube 0.0

  • im a lecturer and i learned alot from this professor, i mean the way he teaches..

  • Why do I go to university and study in youtube?

  • pffff love this guy

  • how did i get here from watching japanese horror movies?

  • "Best Professor on Earth"

  • I learned Java on sat nights during high school, yeah, i was that guy working for Google lolololol

  • I like a school thats not so greedy... given the chance i would definitely goto Stanford

  • late days...............eesh even we didn't get that at the uni here in the UK!!! Unless you had an extreme circumstance...but then you couldn't get any higher than a pass unless you have mitigating circumstances

  • I wanna go there! We get swwets for answwering questions!

  • That's a huge candy bag :D

  • Can anyone recommend watching this an absolute beginner programmer, I've learn the basics of Java. I don't wish to watch 20-30 hours of footage if it will far surpass by knowledge. Thanks!

  • @18YtAcc

Go watch Java programming tutorials on THE NEW BOSTON channel. Easy, short, and quick to learn...goodluck!

  • Comment removed

  • @18YtAcc

YES! This is a great course for an absolute beginner. Even though I'm not an absolute beginner, this prof does a great job explaining it at a very "noob friendly" level. Honestly, I wish I HAD learned from this as a complete beginner. He has answered so many questions that I still had as an intermediate programmer as far as "why" things are done a certain way. Seriously, go through this course it will save you a lot of headache and having to UNLEARN bad programming habits later on.

  • @Tekkerue Thanks, always nice to see some constructive and helpful comments on youtube haha :D

  • @18YtAcc,

Haha! You're welcome. :-) I'm just starting on the 12th lecture and I have already learned so much. I've gone to University for programming and watched a couple other complete courses on programming (one from Harvard, which is also AMAZING) but this course takes a different approach than the others. He says that this course is not just about learning a programming language, but about learning the techniques to be a good programmer and that is the absolute truth! It is brilliant!

  • @Tekkerue remember too that Harvard is strong in the business, law, medical area compared to Standford where its mostly science, math and engineering. not saying Harvard is bad but Standford is the science school thats why they teach you how to be a better programmer

  • @ttabbachino,

That could be, but I wonder how much of it is simply Mehran. :-) I've peeked at the videos for the two courses following this one and they all have different teachers so it'll be interesting to see how well they compare to Mehran.

    '

Also, I will say that the Harvard course was equally as good, just different. He taught C so he goes a lot more in depth into the details of memory and what's really going on under the hood at a low level. It is a great compliment to this course.

  • I am a student of Stanford

  • @Cubs54231 Okay? We care why?

  • In wich year was this video recorded?

  • free candy? wtf? i want this guy to be my prof

  • 44 people cannot tell if a computer is on or not

  • YOUR VOICE IS ANNOYING

  • @DirtyBlade602 What an insightful commentary. Maybe you should provide free programming tutorials instead of this gifted professor with his "annoying voice."

  • I took this course as a summer class when I was in high school. I loved computer programming after this :)

  • @tigerbombs23 Damn you're lucky, in my country we don't have that sort of classes in summer. In fact, we don't have any classes at all.

  • Without the screen how practical is a computer nowadays. 80% of them require some form of screen for reading or analysis (use).

  • this makes me feel like im in class !

  • i love his teaching method, so great.

  • 40:35 if you want to skip all the administrative Stanford lecture
