Downloaded these via iTunes - this guy is awesome.. I'm on lecture 20.. getting into GUI.. recent highlights include creating a MAP to correlate the key "Jenny" to "8675309" lolz.. I like it because I'm new to OOP so while he's making jokes I can code his examples on my second monitor
This class seems like a GREAT way to start learning this field. Has anyone found a way to watch the "Sections" that they descrive as being aired on Closed-Circuit Stanford channels? Thank you to both Stanford and anyone who can help answer that one for me!
The lecture starts at 41:35. Everything prior is administrivia, and all you'd want to know is included in the video's description (unless you are a student at Stanford). You could probably skip to the second lecture without missing anything imperative.
46 people accidentally fell on their "ON" button..."accidentally" turned on their PC...While getting up fell on it a few more times hitting random keys on their keyboard "accidentally" -->> arrived on this page on YouTube...fell one more time, this time discovering the mouse for the first time, fingers it a bit clicking "dislike" by "accident" stands up -->> this video is playing (WOW)...realizes that he/she is a clumsy idiot sits their watches this video and ends up with a "SPRAIN BRAIN"
No, no previous experience needed. He says the only prerequisite for the class is that you can tell the difference between a computer that is turned on and one that is turned off. If you can do that, then you are good to go. I'm a little over halfway through the series and these videos are incredible and very beginner friendly. This is probably the best place to start as a beginner as you will save yourself a lot of headache later on trying to "unlearn" bad programming habits.
I would let him, butty my buiscuit any day! any time! he is soooo attractice just omg! i lurrvvv him!!! so sexy! i could watch this alll day. damn! :DDDD
late days...............eesh even we didn't get that at the uni here in the UK!!! Unless you had an extreme circumstance...but then you couldn't get any higher than a pass unless you have mitigating circumstances
Can anyone recommend watching this an absolute beginner programmer, I've learn the basics of Java. I don't wish to watch 20-30 hours of footage if it will far surpass by knowledge. Thanks!
YES! This is a great course for an absolute beginner. Even though I'm not an absolute beginner, this prof does a great job explaining it at a very "noob friendly" level. Honestly, I wish I HAD learned from this as a complete beginner. He has answered so many questions that I still had as an intermediate programmer as far as "why" things are done a certain way. Seriously, go through this course it will save you a lot of headache and having to UNLEARN bad programming habits later on.
Haha! You're welcome. :-) I'm just starting on the 12th lecture and I have already learned so much. I've gone to University for programming and watched a couple other complete courses on programming (one from Harvard, which is also AMAZING) but this course takes a different approach than the others. He says that this course is not just about learning a programming language, but about learning the techniques to be a good programmer and that is the absolute truth! It is brilliant!
@Tekkerue remember too that Harvard is strong in the business, law, medical area compared to Standford where its mostly science, math and engineering. not saying Harvard is bad but Standford is the science school thats why they teach you how to be a better programmer
That could be, but I wonder how much of it is simply Mehran. :-) I've peeked at the videos for the two courses following this one and they all have different teachers so it'll be interesting to see how well they compare to Mehran.
'
Also, I will say that the Harvard course was equally as good, just different. He taught C so he goes a lot more in depth into the details of memory and what's really going on under the hood at a low level. It is a great compliment to this course.
@DirtyBlade602 What an insightful commentary. Maybe you should provide free programming tutorials instead of this gifted professor with his "annoying voice."
