  • Were u get ur hamster

  • Dain how much hamsters do u keep in there???

  • Cute hammies! Our hamsters like yours get along together until one starts getting a little weak and then the dominant one will trap it from getting food and water to the point of keeping it from coming out of the house. Even removing the house didn't help, then the biting started. This has happened twice so far with brothers and even a mother and daughter.

  • Yeah, I'm away from home at work, each day, so I don't like to take chances with leaving them together, just in case one gets hurt.

  • i dnt know why people say they are 2 types of hammie (chinese it prob cos male have bigger **** and girls are just same but with no big rued bits lol my chinese hammie died dont get one the life expectancy is well small about 1.5 years stick to syrian and robos

  • I read somewhere that there are actually 2 types of Chinese hamster, but the one with the longer tail is much more common on the pet market...

  • chinese dwarf hammies !!! i have one of them ive got the deluxe starter at mo sme one gave the cage and hammie 2 me 4 free and i gonna get cosmo pod to add on !!!!!! hi 5

  • I've only ever owned syrians (I started out with them, when I was still a kid; great frist-time hamster!) Campbell's dwarf hamsters and Winter Whites...Someday I hope to try keeping Roborovski's Dwarfs and Chinese hamsters...I read somewhere that there are two types of Chinese hamster. Which kind do you have? Have they got the longer tail? What are they like as pets? You can't keep more than one in a cage, correct?

  • I've never had a baby dwarf hamster escape through the bars of my cages, although I did have a small one escape one of the tubes, in the early days when I wasn't as experienced is setting these brand of cages up. With time, you will get used to it tho and you'll know how many tubes you can safely click together. And I actaully find the dwarfs easier to keep in Rotastak than the syrians. :) I don't think you'll have a problem with dwarfs and the bars of these cages, tho.

  • Hi there, just rescued a Robo Hammy, just a quick question ,cause they are so small, can they or have they ever got through the wire bars at the top of maze? Just worried as I am used to my big Syrians!! Thanks. Vici.

  • im thinking about getting two dwarf hamsters,

a male and female so they can keep eachother company and breed

should i use a different kind of cage to breed them or is this cage good.

also whered u get the mouse ladders???

  • and another question

what do u use as bedding for the cages. u said u have had hamsters for 13 years so u should no what bedding works best

  • I use a mixture of carefresh (nice a snuggly!) and a rycycled paper pellet-type of cat-litter (great at absorbing moisture and odour, but rather hard to sleep in.) I found that in our climate (Asia) I was always finding either mould growing on the typically used beddings, or it would spread mites. Traditional types of hamster bedding are not produced locally and it's easy for the stuff to get contaminated during shipping (so my vet says; I trust him, as don't buy my cage bedding from him.)

  • I ordered my mouse ladders on Ebay, so I could buy in bulk (my cages use quite a few!) and pay less for buying many at the same time. I'd use a cage like the Habitrail Safari or Playground for breeding if I were you. Tube and ladders aren't hamster-baby-friendly and they need to be a certain size to use wheels. Your Mama-hamster will also be less stressed if her babies are constantly disappearing from the nest to go and explore, too.

  • They could use something like this once they're a bit older, tho. I'd suggest reading up on hamster breeding before you try it, because it's a lot more challenging than you'd first think. There are lots of great books and websites devoted to this; I'm far from being a hamster-breeding expert, myself.

  • Oh, they have fun, aright! :)

  • Its like a fun house!

  • Mine don't bite at all. A friend of mine found them and their mother abondonned in a cage near her house. The babies were a matter of days old and the mother hamster was also very friendly. The girls come to me to be handled, because my friend's children hand-tamed them well, from an early age. The mother hamster was actually very relaxed when they handled her babies...

  • does ur dwarf hamsters bite hard my does, once it made my sister bleed

  • Salt and Pepper would be cute!

  • My new hamsters have been named Gucci and Prada!

  • Name one Speedy and the other Slow Poke! That would be adorable! I also like candy names like Skittles, Snickers, Hershy and Candy!
