hey I have a 24mcs. its kind of beat up but i have just started to restore it the best i can.

ay a maico is the devils bike painted red ! lol i had a ride on a 490 that was a bike and a half works 490 maico! as well

it is grunty verry flickable as well light on the front end ! i recon you could do some whips with on easy ! pursang is a grunty bike due to the short swinging arm which promotes grip so it spins the gets grip and flys up sideown usualy 360 pursang

i love all mx bikes ! seen a arare one in italy i saw the works 500 beta jim pomroys bike for 6000 euro out there for sale

but love the tm400 always a supprise in stor but no warning lol ! on hell of a powerband !

I like the sound, sounds mean, like a Bultaco Pursang, got that grunty 2 stroke sound. The newer the bike gets they smoothed out that grunty sound. Although, u cant beat the sound of my Maicos.

it used to run on methanol using a jet 1/8 in diameter ! ridden is the southwest my father used to race with the owner and he also had a 500 triumph built buy eric cheney it had a norton frame and ariel swinging arm

Great Bike! My husband has a 1962-64 Greeves, the 24MCS/2/808 Villiers 36A serial 085E 348. It is a motocross special type 2, explains the Villiers 36 A. She is all original with the megaphone exhaust attachment and still has the 1/4 turn choke...runs and rides like a wild beast...love it! Had her down 10 yrs in storage, got her out and she sparks, got the oils today...will post video when shes up and going. Contemplateing total restore, awaiting her race history..Thanks for the show!!

it's getting there. me and dad are fixing up the rocket and the 125. so the greeves is on the back burner at the min. But hope to get it done soon. are u coming to any more scrammbles this year ??

also check you have the right jets and needle the right carb body helps 389/65 1" 3/16 bore (i have the parts book !) also check your float level but do one thing to once !

check it has the spray tube cut at a angle

(brass tube the needle goes down though) visable by looking though the bore ! if it isint its a 4 stroke carb ! this makes a diffrence !

elo m8 iv just gt a greeves hawkstone and it is a real pain to start i havent gt it goin yet u got any tips. i think it is the condensor that has gone on it do u know were i can get hold of one thanks xx

condenser ! villiers services if its still a problem try a coil from them there only 27 quid for original re wound

when you have been trying to start it stop and look at the plug if its wet its ignitio if its dry its carburation

Greeves Riders Acociation you mean ? the bike belonged to a friend of my fathers and i promised to preserve it for him, and were not allowed to race megaphones which i feel is ashame so racing one isnt racing one now

i like the full noise as you can tell

the ariel hs dad was offerd 13.000 for ! so you dont race that !

great video, especially the audio, your bike looks great! It brought back memories, I raced a Hawkstone and Challenger in the 1990's pre65 comps.

i have 3 challengers even went to usa to get a desert challenger ! it has 3 ports as well as std !

From the smoke it looks like the exhaust is blowing directly on the rider? What kind of oil mixture does that run on?

should be 16:1 ! but modern oil 32:1 playing (just shows)

yes the original exhaust was that from greeves all 60.s motocross bike had megaphones the forst one had a plain pipe the hawkstone then they developed the megaphone in about 1959/60 24sas hawkstone greeves

yes the cotton we have is only one of two restored know of there verry delicate around the rings ! verry thin like sheet metal

the coluor get me though light green we painted it twice because the coulour went wrong and dad worked hard on that one
