I lived in the Philippines for a year and I can tell you that I have never been witness to a country whose singing talent is on a lower level than PI. The criteria for fame in that country is white skin and family connections, and nothing to do with talent.

Now the Philippines likes Charice ever since she became famous everywhere else. I think she should burn her Pinoy passport and never go back after the way the pathetically untalented entertainment industry in the Philippines treated her because she looked like a true filipino. Not like the white half breeds who come from one of the few families that hoard all the people's money. Charice is by far the best singer ever produced by that country the rest don't even belong in the same conversation.

@fatalapple I don't mean produced in the business sense. I mean produced in the sense she was born and raised in the Philippines. I lived in the Philippines for a year and I can tell you that I have never been witness to a country whose singing talent is on a lower level than PI. The maudlin acting and horrible singing by celebrities underscored the vanity run industry in the Philippines. The criteria for fame in that country is white skin and family connections, and nothing to do with talent.

Now the Philippines's reject turned out to be an outstanding talent. Little did they know that the stone they dumped is a very rare and precious gem, whose muti colored prisms shines the brightest.

She was appreciated in Little Big Star by all right thinking pinoys but somebody in Abs-Cbn just wanted to cook the results so she placed 3rd in the Little Big Star finals para di masyado mahata. Apo daw ata ni Lopez ang nag first. Magaling si Charice, eh pinakamagaling....kaya lang dami lang inggit sa kanya kasi masang masa siya, not even from the middle class or educated class.

I myself a filipino but i can't stomach the music system especially the competition.Charice was so poor then and always made sacrificial lamb to give room for less talented. Charice is such a great singer and great artist.... I felt the same way you felt when the Philippines shun her away for other artists with no talent but have the looks.... I was thinking that she needs to stay here in the U.S. for a couple of years and return to the Philippines when she wins a Grammy then, they would love her more...
