  • wpnder if anyone was on the deck at the time poor bastards.

  • oh, NOW I understand, Manly is the name of a Sydney suburb! Still, it's doing manly things by crashing through big waves without coming to grief.

  • suppose the boat needed a full cleaning service after the journey...hardcore...for sure more intense than every rollercoaster ;-)

  • It's all the puke that has made the thing yellow!

  • Like a Boss, am I right?

  • I LIVE IN MANLY >:D

  • "Manly Ferry"??? What?Does the boat have a dick or something?

  • thumbs up if u would hate to be in that ?

  • Since when is a ferry Manly?

  • @BadaBingBongBean It is a ferry that runs through manly port

  • @BadaBingBongBean suburb of sydney called Manly which has a ferry that runs across Sydney harbour

  • @BadaBingBongBean Because it would need some balls to go out in that weather! :D

  • Bloke I knew purchase a Sydney ferry in the 90's. Was planning to convert it into a restaurant. Crazy bastard tried to sail it to Melbourne. It broke up and sank en route. All on board needed a helicopter out of there. There tough old boats but not that tough.

  • WOW LUCKY THE STOP THE FERRYS NOW IN EXTREME WEATHER LIKE THAT

  • opening from posiden adventure i thinks

  • i was on that ferry that storm and people just get thrown around, bought the ticked for fun wasnt going anywhere hahaha

  • @IraDubery no you weren't

  • Well, thats one way to wash a ferry XD

  • I have been in seas like that a couple of times in the Pacific...it wears you out just trying to stand up.

  • suprised the ferry ran that day with waves like that in the harbour

  • I have been on one of those horrible Manly Ferrys back in May 2006...scared the hell out of me.Normally they are ok but every now and then you get the big waves.

  • OMG!

  • capt forgot to check the weather channel taht day

  • puta que pariu !11 hahahahaha

  • Was this manly ferry a transfestite?

  • @xXCWALDROUPXx Or a transferrite ?

  • One of the scariest moments in my life occured on the Manly ferry when I was about 6 years old. Passing the heads, a huge swell hit us broadside, causing the boat to roll nearly 45 degrees. For a second I thought I was going to get thrown out of the upper deck - and I couldn't swim yet! When it came time to return to Sydney, I begged my folks not to get back on the ferry. We took the bus around instead.

  • This happened to my Nan and my aunt when they were going to manly from Circular Quay but the wave came in from the side and smashed them all they were soaked. :/

  • Those people better had their seat beats on.

  • I bet Chuck Norris was the captain

  • ...now go to 'Manly Ferry rough' to see such a wave from IN the ferry...

  • The ferry is using the Chuck Norris approach ... *punch* .... next up will be the Roundhouse Kick ... don't be on the ferry when it does that ! :)

  • Went for a surf that day ..... it was pree good

  • get the fudge outa my way!

  • That was quite virile.

  • sweetx) I cant believe they went out in this weather but sure it looked all fine for the safety of the ship, but the comfort for the passengers..nah, not so good I would say.. really, even if the ship can take the weather wellenought without beeing endangered of sinking or any other unpleasent accidents, the passengers might not know that, they will just feel a hell of a bumpy ride and the waves shaking entire ship..that dont feel safe I know so .stupid they went in that weather, jsut scare ppl!

  • what year was this?

  • @hammaxlr8 It was July 2007

  • @ianz140273 it couldn't have been july 2007 because it was uploaded in june. :/

  • @BellBillie Yes, thats what I meant... June :)

  • @ianz140273 Ok. :)

  • @ianz140273 then y are u filming it off ur computer??

  • @ThePyra12 Why not? I wasn't in the chopper, so how would you suggest I film it?

  • @ianz140273 good piont

  • @BellBillie Even so, maybe someone filmed it in June and uploaded in July? I once uploaded a video from 2006 in 2009 on my old account, so you know -.-

  • That is one manly ferry.

  • Hilarious title on this clip. Is that the name of the ferry itself or just an adjective? I am also enjoying the homonym action of the word "ferry" in conjunction with "manly".

  • @KraftwithaK, Manly is the destination.. the place where the ferry goes.... google Manly Sydney

  • @KraftwithaK Manly is the name of the City, its across from Sydney

  • @KraftwithaK The word "ferry" is not the same as "fairy" so there is no homonym action going on here.

  • @ornitorrinco01 Thanks :) You are very correct. I did pick this up as well but never got round to replying. Cheers

  • i thought it ment manly as in tough ferry lol how thick do i feel

  • I bet that was a run ride

  • @ClifftonBeach yeah

  • Try 'Manly ferry rough' for on-boat experience giant waves in both directions.

  • LMFAO!!.. I should have bought a ticket to ride that motherfucker at that time..

  • STAMINA!!!

  • Wouldn't be such an issue for a Hydrofoil would it? Check out "Hydrofoil - The Musical"

  • it stood still

  • Far out, i took a ferry to manly a coup[lle of years ago on a nice day and had no idea it could look like that...............

  • Thats gnarly

  • these journeys to and from work were great.... the best commute on earth !!!!

  • I love going on the Manly ferry in rough weather. The worst incident I remember was during a stormy afternoon a couple of years ago. The ferry was tilting with such force that from a side window, it felt like you would be able to reach out and touch the water. It was awesome/terrifying to see the ocean rushing towards you each time the ferry listed over on its side. Waves were splashing into the lower deck, people were puking everywhere, but the ferry is indestructible!

  • so this is off the australian coast?

  • @Trex100 not exactly, it's inside sydney harbour. So it's not 'the ocean', but this video is shot near where the harbour opens out onto the ocean (a spot that is known for it's periodically rough weather).

  • @blackmesalabs Thanks for the info. That certainly is some heavy surf.

  • @blackmesalabs yeah and renowned for it's awesomeness! I love going to Manly in rough weather. I always sit in the front. lol

  • @LOLDISNEYLAND the last couple of weeks have been ideal for catching it during rough weather. The swell was massive a few days ago. From the inside of one I saw another of the ferries rise so high on a wave that the bow (including that end's propeller) was completely out of the water. They were actually piloting them directly towards the ocean opening, then sharply turning away in order to minimise the amount of time spent lateral to the ocean waves. Evasive manoeuvres!

  • I would rather go on foot to Manly....wonder if passangers wore life-jackets

  • I am surprised they were allowed to run it.

  • LOL you just know everyone on that ship was screaming on the descent.

  • I´vs been in such a situation. Puked my intestines out.

  • Dont be so wreckless everybody, throw down your guns.

  • haha some of the comments here are gold

  • I was surfing that swell at Balmoral

  • Holy Sh%t!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 5 min later it sinks

  • As the manly ferry cuts its way to circular quay

  • She don't like.... That kinda behaviour... lmao

  • that ferry is pretty manly

  • All Sydney Ferries are built by Tonka and are capable of sinking icebergs....and whales....and other stuff that gets in their way, I think.

  • lol

  • lmao xD

  • nothing harder than aussie grit, fuckin love 'em!!! sorry for the language. greetings from the uk. casey stoner for nxt yrs moto gp champ. go casey, top geezer.

  • choke on 5 dicks, bitch.

  • These ferries were actually made here in Australia at the NewCastle ship yards.

  • Dont you be taking no for an answer ferry!

  • HE'S A RECKIN' MACHINE!!!!!!!!!

  • These ferries (X4) were all designed to hit the swells head on and punch though them. There robust design is ideal for this , besides a few early computer hicups they have run non stop and only get stopped in fog or extremely dangerous storm condtions.

  • A typical winters crossing i have some great photo's of this taken professionally I migtht put up later

  • @stormnut58 did you ever put them up?

  • 0:07/0:08 is sick.

  • "Attention passengers, the snack bar is now open on the upper deck. We have a selection of refreshments including drinks pies sandwiches and sick bags. thank you."

  • yep

you're meant to take the wave head on (bow on)

  • thats one Manly ferry

  • Oh my. So doesn't this ever affect the cars on board, or passengers outside?

  • No cars on Sydney ferries, and I would imagine they'd all be inside in that weather =P

  • ferrys wear boots!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Oh, hell no! I'll go the long way around.

  • Hold on to that bottle of sea sick pills! :)

  • Ungh!

  • bagelboi66 it is not possible that the enigines are damaged they are protected for this kind of abuse.

i am a sailer my self and been in this weather several times but it is not funny any more when you hear the prop comming out of the water haha.

  • it was a woman driver....

  • she be driving like that, shell meet the same fate as the edmund fitzgerald

  • The manly ferry took the wave head-on like a man. Ugh.

  • I'm glad I wasn't sailing in her that day. How serious is it in seas that rough if the props come out of the water? Would/could it hurt the engines?

  • I was on that ferry! it was heading 2 circular quay!

  • It was actually heading to Manly but had to turn around half way through the heads.

  • Aye, lets all steer head-on into the big waves, just like the Estonia did....

  • what kind of random comment is that? you think just because estonia sank every ship in the world is particularly weak against taking waves head-on? estonia had flaws in her design + she had a bow visor design. besides, you really dont wanna take big waves any other way than head on... its all on google kid, maybe you should take a look :P

  • @pootubeftw And everything on Google is the truth too !!

  • Taking a big wave side on would result in a ship capsizing. Not a good idea...

  • I've been on one in ruff swells

  • i wish i had my surf board out on that one damn it,why do i always miss the big uns

  • Letts hope noone was outside or sticking his/her head out thru a window :P

  • lol allways the bigguns

  • OI OI OI

  • thats nuts

  • i love that crossing when its stormy the boats are just so heavy i was lucky to go threw rough weather it was fun as hell

  • dduude the whole bow was in the water when it hit that wave!

  • That;s not massive, sheez

  • stand on deck with a bar of soap

  • aahahah i thought you were the camerman on a heli

  • ahaha.. yeah, nah

  • GOOD!!!, very hard sea mmmm that was not a good trip....

  • That looked like a freak wave!!!!!!!!!

  • I've been across a few times when it's been really bad, but nothing like this! You try and act cool, but on every roll you tense up and the knuckles go extra white.

  • Aggh, spilled my martini again.

  • When I was a kid we'd play hooky from school on bad weather days just so we could spend the day on the Manly ferry, "The South Steyne". We used to love the really rough days like this one. Some days we'd get home soaked to the skin from being swamped by waves pouring in over the side.

  • i was probably on it that day ay

  • cool

  • HEAVEYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!111!!!!one111

  • wow u are cool 'one11' omfg
