Although you might enjoy the music, the ryhthm and devotion of the qawwals, you do miss a substantial part of the message if you do not understand the language with all the subtleties and nuances.
I spent my childhood in Lucknow and this qawwali brings back memories of Firangi Mahal and Shah Mina Sahib. The qawwals aew singing in the typical takrar style of Oudh.
No elitism needed. You only have to have ears that hear and a heart that is open and all the beauty is revealed even if the words are not understood. The music crosses all boundaries and the soul of the music is available to all who would listen.
