Just watched this last night. Brilliant and moving film, the acting in the lead roles was great, esp Iron's. Ithink a reason why it's so controversial is that people expect to be disgusted by the mans actions, and to see him as a typical sexual predator - but, bythe end of the film, they can't help but feel differently...and that disturbs them.
It's a film (and book) that asks us to question our ow pre-conceptions, and a lot of folk don't want to do that.

She is young. Nothing more than a child; he is a fully grown man who should have known what he was doing. She may have been selfish, but she was a still, so much younger; striving for independance and the like. He merely wished to posses her, under the "guise" of love.

A lot more accurate than the 1962 film. Any man would have it for Sue Lyon in a bikini. Dominique Swain is believably an
adolescent; which makes this story/movie the more unsettling.

Just watched this last night. Brilliant and moving film, the acting in the lead roles was great, esp Iron's. Ithink a reason why it's so controversial is that people expect to be disgusted by the mans actions, and to see him as a typical sexual predator - but, bythe end of the film, they can't help but feel differently...and that disturbs them.
It's a film (and book) that asks us to question our ow pre-conceptions, and a lot of folk don't want to do that.

Io non penso che questo film tratti della pedofilia. Humbert s'innamora di Dolores perché trova in lei quell'amore, quella ragazza, amata da lui stesso tanti anni fa. La pedofilia e la differenza d'età in relazione sono due cose completamente diverse. In questo caso, invece, si tratta di quell'ultima. Humbert la amava e ciò era evidente, mentre Dolores giocava con i suoi sentimenti.

Don't worry. You're not the only one who has a thing for Jeremy :) I've had a crush on him since i was 13 lol . I'm 25 now.. sadly didn't discover this movie until I was 16... and it just made me like him more as an actor. He did a GREAT job in this one.
