  • @MythoBot you have to set the sensativity and also you can choose what causes it to go off.. like opening it up or touching the track pad and also the keyboard or moving it.

  • ok, so if i activate it and they steal my laptop, what use is it having a picture of them on that laptop?

  • @bradnightmare You can have it email the picture to you.

  • @bradnightmare It sends it to you mail or in my case to dropbox. So you can enter to you dropbox account and print the pic and get the guy.

  • Wtf, why would anyone leave their macbooks alone in the first place? This is useless using the remote!

  • how do you turn the alarm off without using the remote?

my macbook pro did nOT come with a remote

  • @goombari

Thats because all of a sudden Apple turned into a greedy ass company too consumed by arrogance that they expect you to pay for the remote now instead of including one like they used to. Don't worry though, they did throw in some extra outdated C2D hardware to make it fair.

  • @the7awakening i now have a macbook pro

  • So does your spelling. Its sucks, not sux moron.

  • @smiley3303 Who cares? For opportunity thieves, any kind of (portable) computers, mobile phones, MP3 players... is worth stealing, 'cause you can sell it. You might think "who wants to buy a Mac - VISTA RULES" but when they steal a MacBook then sell it at $200 then somebody's gonna buy it immediately. That's what happened to a friend of mine's Vaio. It was several thousands of dollars and was sold by the thief at $200. He was caught, but the Vaio is lost forever.

  • yeah i dont need a smartass badge but hold the power button then disconnect the battery

    there you go no alarm

  • the emailing image part doesn't work.

How do i make it work?

  • do you need the remote for this and would this work on the white macbook

  • this does work on all macbooks. and no you do not need a remote, but if you do not have a remote you have to put in a password (that you set) everytime it goes off. so the remote makes it easier.

  • were ccan you get te app

  • my vid tells you where to download it, go 2 my channel

  • can this work on the air ?

  • i misunderstood the use of this program, i though it would email me info if my mac was stolen tracked via the internet. its more like a car alarm than a lowjack. it beeps and flahes. good if you need to go to the bathroom in a public place like a library (god help you if it acceidently goes off lol) FUNNY STORY:

as i was setting it up, i acceditaly armed. it beeped loudly and took pictures of me despratly trying to figure out to stop it, a realized all you do is type in your passord

  • does this work on a imac??? its so my mother doesn´t touch it!!!

  • no, the imac doesn't have a motion sensor

  • ok thanks!

  • but it does work like 80%, ok iMac doesnt have motion sensor but it does have keyboard, mouse and power source right. Go give it a try to see if it works.

  • hat if you alarm the mac witht he remote then u loose ure remote how do you deactivate just turn your mac off or what

  • You can type it a password to deactivate it too.

  • Comment removed

  • Ive got it on my macbook, and its configured to take a picture when the alarm goes off and send it to my email address

  • How does that work it doesnt even work in general by me?! please help

  • it also takes apicture

  • is it ok if i download it in windows xp??

  • The program is made for Mac OS X, so it won't be compatible with your Windows system. I do not know of any windows equivalent so... you can't :P

  • The program is now open source so I am sure if it is worth a cr@p it will be ported to other OS.

I am sure that pulling the battery will disable the alarm.

  • Pull the battery? Why? just hold the power button for 5=10 seconds.

  • hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh nice :)

  • I hate it when the credits are as long, or longer than the content of the video

  • you have a remote?

  • if your mac didn't come with one they're £15/$19 @ the Apple Store

  • haha awesome! :D

  • HAHA to kool

  • sweeet

  • very cool... but wouldn't the alarm stop if u closed it? lol

  • a usefull tool no boubt about that

  • never heard of pressing the off button lol some one could still easily knick it

  • maybe, but it goes off because of movement and then it takes a picture of the one that is pressing the off button

    am i right?

  • Comment removed

  • dude, are you like like stupid? if you move the mac the motion sensor offcourse will activate the alarm, that is what i meant, like moving the mac not the moving in the camera... so still im right :P

  • I know that. :) I accidentally phrased it wrong. Of course the camera has nothing to do with it. I have an ibook with IAlertU, so I understand when u move the mac, it make's the motion sensor unstable, thus triggering the alarm.

  • Not the guy who's pushing the off button, it takes a picture when the alarm is activated.

  • hahahaha this is hilarious !!!

  • Will it work on the regular macbook!

  • It comes with every new mac or macbook!

  • No it dosen't, it didnt come with mine? :( Aluminium MacBook Pro?

  • since the new macbooks have leopard already installed and ready to go then they removed the remote....sucks hu i know i didnt get one either i had to buy it at the store which was about 20 dollars

  • no it doesnt. i just got an aluminum macbook saturday and there was no remote

  • I'll run fast as hell.

  • Now to find someone who might actually steal a Mac. :)

  • no its real i have this

  • I hope this not real. Cause the person would just take the battery out.

  • Best of luck removing the battery without \moving the macbook/. It uses the motion sensor. However, you could close and dash. It would shut up as soon as sleep finished. There's other software out there like LockDown which is based on iAlertU. Both are free & I've not played with either yet. YMMV.

  • The update for it makes it never shut up. Even if you shut it and put it into sleep mode it will not stop the alarm!

  • Could you tell me how you activated it by the apple remote? i can't figure it out.

  • This is good if ur in college

  • just remove the battery. =)

  • by the way, if you had a remote too for some reason you could just disable it! but i am sure there are other ways too.

  • not if you pair a single remote to the computer (though you could just close the clamshell...)

  • u can pair them! :-)

  • I'm sorry you can't afford one. Doesn't mean you have to try to take a piss on us that can...

My mac can take on my windows laptop any day. I'm not sure what that means. Does my HP laptop also suck or is my Mac fucking good?

Obviously you're not 1337 enough to tell me, so I won't be expecting an answer.

  • what if mr. burglar just closes the lid?

  • it doesn't stop beeping even if the lid is closed.

  • even when its closed before moving? or the guy is doing a hard shutdown? :-) i am creative in such things :D

  • You can't activate the remote if your computer is shut down. Same applies to a closed lid.

If it's closed, carry the notebook around.

  • The alarm sounds when you close the lid (even if you haven't moved the machine), and when you type or use the mouse, or unplug the adapter.. The only thing that actually "gets around" the alarm is plugging in headphones so it's not as loud, and of course entering the password..

  • How is it stupid? It stops you're laptop from being stolen. Or if it does get stolen you get a photo sent to you of the thief. So you can get it back.

Howver one called Undercover send you the ip address and network info aswell so yu can track that fucker down!

  • you know, if you can eliminate the turn on turn off chirp, the would be thief wouldn't know it has an alarm. so they wouldn't bother plugging in headphones or gripping it by the isight or any of that unusual stuff. they'd just try to close it and casually walk off. and bam, everyone's staring at them as they stand there looking shocked.

  • It's not activated by the iSight...

  • How to jack a mac:

    plug in headphones.

grip the laptop by the webcam.

    ...

  • Plugging a dead speaker/headphones in will completely remove the noise element.

    It's still getting jacked.

  • however, it also takes a photo of the person and sends it to your e-mail. at least that's what i hear.

  • were did you get that

  • hahahaha, dont jack off your mac

  • btw it works with the mba too

  • lol

  • song artist name pleaseee !!! :D

  • some one help plz can you tern it on whith no remote

  • Yes it's possible. Change "preferences". In the tab "General" you have to thick "Enable arm from menu"

  • i know this might now be a big deal, but my brother can arm and disarm my computer with his remote, is there a way to disable the remote function all together?

  • you can pair your remote to your mac so only your remote works with it, not just in this app but all apps. i forget the exact step but lookup "pair" and "apple remote" in google

  • hahahahhahahha

  • What are some alternative security systems for Macbook Pros rather than iAlertU ?

  • kensington lock...

  • would it work with a Macbook Air?

  • great tool!

    especially the car sounds ;)

great would be an implementation of biometrical facerecognition via the cam.

    keep up the great work!

  • only on macbook pro?

  • see comment below

  • do u need the apple remote to do what u have done?

  • you dont need the remote, if you have just a macbook (which i did on) you can have it and it will put it on the taskbar at the top, and you can click the thing to arm it

  • where can you download iAlertU?

  • I have a question i just bought my macbook...and i was wondering if i was suppose to get a remote with it or i would have to buy it myself...

  • they used to come with a remote, you'll now have to buy one if you want. costs about$19

  • if its a pro then yea.

  • Hi! I have a problem with it. When I activates the alarm it goes off after about 3 secs. I tried Everything"""!! Please Help

  • Have you set the alarm duration to 3 seconds? You can adjust the time in the preferences menu.

If you still have this problem, try reinstalling it (download the latest version)

  • nice!!

  • Thats all good and well, but does it have power windows? O.o

  • is this real?

  • Yes. I just tested it. It's so, so, so funny!

  • can't the computer be shut down while the alarm is going off? I hope not because if it did then that would suck. Good thing you can't easily take the battery out of Macs.

  • nope..when the alarm is ringing the keyboard and power button are disabled

  • thats pretty kwl

  • How can I use it if I have no remote?

  • u cant

  • Correction, you can. Activate iAleru, and look for the - button on the taskbar and click it. Click on preferences, and general, and check Enable arm from menu. Set a password, and click the icon again, select arm system, enter password, and close your mac. It works better with a remote though. But the new ones don't have remotes.

  • noone can jack mine it aint got no cock

  • yeah great^^it's like the car xD

  • can you shut it down without the remote control

  • yea just type in your password while its going off and it shuts off
