Can we pray to Mary or other saints as we do to God? Can some person who is at the other end of the universe hear our prayers? Isn't this something that is exclusively reserved to God? How can a saint hear hundreds or thousands of prayers at one time? No matter how great a saint they were, they are not omniscient nor can they answer our prayers (it is a known fact there are more prayers offered to Mary than to God by Catholics)....
@kiwichristian2009 ...This is seen by the statement by Bishop Liqouri “We often more quickly obtain what we ask by calling on the name of Mary than by invoking that of Jesus. She...is our Salvation, our Life, our Hope, our Counsel, our Refuge, our Help” (The Glories of Mary by Bishop Alphonse de Ligouri (Brooklyn: Redemptorist Fathers, pp. 254, 257).
The Bible says that we should not pray to any other than JESUS CHRIST,and we should not pray to Mary! Mary was just a human being like everybdy else, praying to her is the same as necromancy forbidden in Deut. Where is there any proof that we are to pray to anyone other than God?
first of all, why did jesus have to transform himself to god, while all this time he was suppose to be god, it sounds as though he is not god, how is he able to be god while he was called son of god. He also prayed to his father in heaven, supposedly. I AM a LUCIFERIAN, SATANIST.!! So why did he pray to his father, and yet hear you call this christ god and a mediator, and pray to jesus, you contradicted yourself. just like the bible always did and still does upon to present time. jc is lying.!!
Praying to saints is very unbiblical, and you're right. Only Jesus Christ himself makes intercession for the saints from heaven. He is our high priest.
Its kind of funny, you talk about Catholics "worshiping" saints. But you have a Texas Longhorn on your wall back there, and a Texas shirt. You want to talk about false worship bro???
keep going my friend prayer is a form of worship and worship belongs to God alone so when u pray to mary or and other of the saints u are commiting idolatry.now i love mary but she is no greater than u or i. plus if u r a true christian then u too are a saint by the works of Jesus. in the Bible it says when Jesus died the curtain that seperated the Holy of Holies from the rest of the temple saying now all can come to God for repentance.Jesus is our middle man we need no one else.
Let's just clear the air first of all - you're arguing something the Catholic church doesn't do anyway - Catholics don't pray to saints, we ask saints to pray for us - hence the litany prayer. If you can call TBN and ask a fellow sinner on the other end of an 1-800 line to pray for you - then I'd rather ask a saint to pray for me.
Secondly, you're not a saint - sorry - your baptism calls you to a life of holiness - and yes our baptism makes us members of the same commuity with the saints. But just becasue we're all saved by the same baptism, doesn't mean we're all saints. Not everyone in the army are generals. Same concept applies.
John's Gospel say Whoever believes in Jesus will not die but have eternal life. DO you mean to say we all just die? Sorry - you're mistaken - Saints ar enot dead! MY goodness, you throw phrases like "it's not biblical" like you're some expert!
In 2:41 of your video, you said Jesus is transformed into God - are you even really Christian? Jesus is not transformed into God anytime -he's always been God!
"In the begining was the word and the word was with God and the word was God and the word became flesh" - that's more John for you.
We are just asking the Saints to help us pray to God. That is what has been done since the Church began in 32 AD and we will continue to do it. You aren't the first to disagree with it, and you wont be the last. If you call yourself a "Christian" then why do you only focus on what you think is negative about people different from you? I believe Jesus taught us to look for the good in everyone and except everyone for who they are.
I pray to God only. I guess even the saints don't want us to pray to them because they don't want us to sin. They sure don't want us to make them into idols.
they take our prayers to God. We honor them because the lived model lives in the service of God. Praying to them is like gathering allies for your cause. Whose to say that they cant hear us.
you say it doesnt make sense. but when you think about it nothing in our religon makes sense. we follow it because we believe in God and thats our faith. God allows us to have the Saints as help so that we can relate to how we must live our lives since we cannot ever fully become like Jesus who is God.
Why not just go straight to Jesus when we need prayer for something? There is no point in going to other saints who are already dead, when we can go straight to Jesus.
What authority do you have to interpret the Transfiguration there are millions of translations about what happened and what the purpose was, I agree it was to show Christ glorified but who gives you the authority to stop there. there is a deeper meaning that is occurring here and If you say Jesus gave us the ability to interpret individually then what makes your translation greater than mine the only Church that dates to the time of Christ is the CATHOLIC CHURCH and he gave His Church Authority.
The Catholic Church has corrupted a lot of things over the years, and the idea of praying to the saints is one of those things. And I did not interpret this the way I wanted to, that is just the way the verse reads when you look at it in context. You just see Jesus talking to those who have died, but you have to look at why he did this. He did it to show his disciples who he really was, and show them his true glory.
But if it is so clear why are their so many denominations if it is so clear why might my interpretation be different, the Catholic Church has not corrupted things even Martin Luther had a devotion to Mary and St. Anne even calling upon her for help....
Did you really just say that the Catholic Church has never corrupted anything? Look at the popes that you have had and some of the things that they have done. Like opening up the church to prostitution, murdering the pope so someone else can become pope, and ect.
The People may have been corrupt but the doctrine of the Church never erred from Truth, Even When prostitution existed the Teaching against it never was questioned....and I dont need to tell you that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God... please dont change the subject we are speaking of Saints I was merely defending your attack against the Bride of Christ, and my Mother the Church
@thebenjohnson When we pray to saints, it is not praying to them "instead" of God. On the contrary. We are joining our prayers with them and glorifying God together as a whole with Jesus leading the prayer. Please get your facts straight friend. God bless.
@thebenjohnson And one more thing, I don't see how those of us (sinners) here on earth can pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ, but those who have already passed on who are already with God cannot. That makes no sense. The body lies but the soul lives forever and God sees all.
look at what i said its gathering allies, its like telling your parents you've done something horrible like knocked up a girl in her sophmore year. You tell your close friends b4 you go to your parents so you have a support group. We do pray directly to Jesus as well but we also pray to the saints because they were model christians who the pope deemed worthy of honor in our faith. Quoting matthew 16:19 what you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven. Praying to the saints is permitted.
How come is it that those of us (sinners) that are here on earth can pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ but those who have passed on who are already with God cannot?

"Praying to saints is very unbiblical"
What exactly do you mean by "unbiblical". Can you give me a definition of "unbiblical" from the Bible please ?
"He is our high priest."
Ofcourse He is our high priest. But the question arises... where are the rest of the priests. Did Jesus abolish the priesthood ?

Then why are there prayer hotlines in Christian TV channels? They want people to call up so somebody can pray for them. They want an intercessor.
