I see the reversers come out, but I fail to see how they would provide any reverse thrust if the trottles are in the idle position. On every jet flight that I've been on, after the reversers were deployed, a loud roar would build up and subside indicating that the engines were revved up and then returned to idle, a logical process that I didn't see any mention of here.
Where u have engine 1 throttle put spoilers lever there. Engine 2 throttle put engine 1 therottle, and where u have engine 3 throttle, put engine 2 throttle. Where u have engine 4 put the flaps there. If u r confused, I'm posting a video soon on ch products stuff!
I have a control colum that has the throttle controls on there already. All I have to do is press the botton to enable thrust reverse and move the throttle all the way up to engage reverse thrust.
No, otherwise, the aircraft wouldn't slow down. The pilot has to lower the Thrust until it is nearly off completely, and just before landing, it sometimes sounds like the engines have shut down.
now look, i dont mean to sound like one of those a**holes who always post stupid insulting coments, but i do have an observation to make, what with all the time and money you put into your simulator, you could have gotten yourself a private pilots license, granted its terrifyingly expensive, but worth every penny if you ask me
No sir. The Desktop Airliner Cockpit costs far less than a private pilot's license. I should know, I have earned my private license, instrument rating, commercial pilot license, multi-engine rating, and I'm a certified flight instructor.
By the way, we also provided the best scenic flights in Kansas City. I invite everyone to check out our Plaza Flights page on the Roger Dodger Aviation website.
I actualy noticed that the detent when you pull the throttles all the way back each have thier own button assignments. SO, I used those. So for me to activate my reversers, I just pull throttles ALL the way back, past the detent. Works fantastic for me.
Yes, I noticed that worked on one of our computers, but not another. Never figured out why, so we just came up with a method that would work for everyone.
the exhaust stream (thrust) passes backwards to send the aircraft forward. on the engine cowl or nacelle, theres hydraulic operated panels of heat resistant metal, the slide backwards and form a clam shell shape, the exhaust stream hits the clam shell doors, and the stream is directed forward...sending the aircraft backwards....but its going so fast that it just slows it down...it doesnt actually go backwards.
think of those parachute brake on fighter jets....
but how do you activate reverse thrust with a keyboard? or joystick? i know you can do it by pressing Page Down key, but that takes 5 settigns to engage it to full?
hey r u sure that u can assign reverse thrust to the levers with ch control manager? ive been looking on google, and alot of people r saying that u can only do that with some program called FSUIPC.
i dont understand how to use control amager do u have to script the thing to reverse thrust when u detent it or is it easy and im retarted please replay ASAP
On the CH throttle Qoadrant can you assign all 4 of the black leathers as throttle increse cause i think that will give you more of a real life feeling when flying a Boeing 747-400???
Yes, the knobs on the top of the levers are interchangeable and you can assign the throttle event to any lever. So you can fly a two engine jet, or use four black knobs for a four engine jet. Or you could even use three black knobs for a three engine jet like a B-727 or a DC-10.
Well hey... come out to the Lee's Summit Airport this Saturday April 19. EAA Chapter 91 is having a pancake breakfast. We'll be there about 9 AM. I'll be the one wearing the Roger Dodger t-shirt.
sweet, ill try to come but i have a trombone lesson at 10:30, and i can cancel it. and ur sayin i can come to that pancake thing? even though im only 14?
man that website looks pretty cool. ill try and ask my parents if i can do the free flight. do u get to like choose one of the planes they have to fly? i hope they have a beech baron 58 just like in fsx, ive kinda been wanting to try to fly a double prop plane. The first plane i ever flew was a cessna 172.i even got to be the captian.
hey dude does the throttle quadrant levers feel just like the levers on the yoke? also when the throttle is all the way back in the detent part i think, does that really count as like a key being pressed down when ur assigning keys in flight simulator?
wait what i ment was do the throttle quadrant levers move back and forth just like the ones on the yoke? or do u have to put a little more force on it?
I set up my key controls fo flight simulator, but when i went back to it the next day, it was back to default. can you advise on how to make the key setup stay how i want it?
I think a common error is people may click OK when they re-assign the key, but forget to click OK in the Buttons/Controls menu. You might try re-assigning one key, verify it works in FSX, then shut down and re-start your computer to verify it is still assigned correctly.
Also...I think the full-back position for the throttles is recognized as a key press through the CH Control Manager software, but I'm not sure (I don't use control manager).
nice vid, i use 2 saitek pro flight throttls and i just assinged that same key comand to the click dawn thingy on my 4 engin trottle levers. works very well and more realistick!
Sory Got another question...... i looked on the standerd shopps but could not find the one you were using i only saw one which had only 2 black lethers 2 red and 2 yellow i am from the UK could you direct me to a good place where i could find that one?
Ive ran into a problem with my joystick you see when i done a perfect touch down at St maarten when i tried to turn of it wouldnt turn i went to the options menu and made sure that the calibration was right but it still wouldnt turn what do i do so when i turn with the joystick it doesnt turn please help:]
Hey roger, if you do plaza flights, I have a question: Do you work at ATD Flights Systems at the downtown airport

@rogerdodgeraviation so if the reverstrust was set to the left does that mean you just need to click it to activate?

@airste172 yes, that's the way FSX controls are modeled...give it a try
rogerdodgeraviation 1 year ago
@rogerdodgeraviation I'll try jets later, after I get my checkride (coming up soon) done in a real 172.
I still don't understand if it's possible to control the amount of reverse thrust that is applied or if this is just non-functional eye candy.
airste172 1 year ago
@airste172
Throttles are left at idle during reverse thrust, a second set of levers are used to spool up the engines for reverse thrust

It does improve realism.

reverse thrust is when the engines thrust forwards to slow the aircraft so it doesnt overshoot the runway.

By default in FSX its assigned to F2. Simply retard your throttles, then press and hold F2.
SWFan77 2 years ago
You don't really need to install anything for FSX, Windows installs the basic drivers for it and FSX recognizes everything else.

We don't use CH Control Manager either. So we just assign the reverse thrust event (throttle decrease) to the buttons below the throttles.
