@AngelManson1 It isn't very smart to get a bird when it's that old. He will never get handtamed when he's that old. My parrot did the exact same thing your parrot does but she bites when I try to touch. She eats out of my hand, stands on my finger and she also LOVES coming on my shoulder. But she's not even tame when I got her at 9 months. So it won't be that easy trying to tame a 4 year old bird.......... Just warning you.

mine eats from the hand and he wont bite, but he would bite if i touched him..

I have a pair of Quakers,a sun,and a peach front conure. 3 males Vs 1 Female.The quakers hate my conures and cockatiels.They are really aggressive birds.Especially when you let their wings grow out.Then they think they can rule your home.Your lucky to have a Bi-Racial couple. @breadbo3 aww sorry my bird is doing much better ;) my prayers worked, my bird got sick cuz i sleep with him & i guess i squish him cuz the next morning he was acting very strange go on google type parrot illneses, it says : alawys sleeping, swollen feet, cant walk, weak, eyes shut, not eating or sleeping and more. surpirsingy he had all thoses symptons, after 2 days i said thats enough , took him 2 the vet and he said hes not gonna make it,( not on my watch) he fine now;)

I have a 16 year old male Quaker and I just got a 2 1/2 year old female sun conure...they're in the same room and they don't seem to mind each other at all. It's funny because my Quaker inky likes to be up high and fly everywhere and my conure Nikki likes to be on the floor, so it works. They're cages take up half the living room...they're huge lol

I had a blue Quaker who flew away (thanks to a careless housemate), as an apology he got me a young male Sun Conure (his friends could no longer keep the bird), I am now in Sun Conure snuggles heaven, but I still miss the purring and laughs and general laid back attitude of the Quaker. If I got a young girl or boy Quaker, would my 7Yo boy Sun accept it?

I have a problem I hope you can help me with, My 3yo male Sun, Phoenix, is always trying to chew my ears, eyes and lips. He doesn't bite, he chews. I've tried giving him treats and extra positive attention, but he just want's to chew me. When he chews I put him in his cage for a while then bring him back out. But he almost always immediately starts chewing me again. He hates being in his cage, but he doesn't understand that chewing = cage.

This video is just precious! My Quaker parrot Piccolo is about 1yr old and we were thinking of getting a Sun Conure..do you think they'd be enemies? We also have 2 budgies and the 3 get along great. Would a conure be a good choice? They're such active little guys too, i'd hope it would at least get along with the quaker. =) Thanks

Hi, sorry for the wait, Paco and Linda get along just great. Quakers tend to be protective and dominant especially when protecting there own turf.  During the first week or two they will test each other out, don't worry..no casualties (LOL) eventually they bonded quite fast and now can't be seperated as you can see from the video. Hi, ususally Quakers like to be with there own but there's always an exception to the rule. They don't like overcrowded spaces, so try one companion at a time. It takes some time but they eventually adjust. Good Luck!!

My bird does that when i put him on my head and my hair is really messed up he will preen it and it will actually end up looking rlly good so i go to skool with the hair and i get a lot of compliments(good) i would reccomend if u have a bird have Him/Her be ur Hairstylist

Quakers like to be alone, contrary to Sun Conures, I had the same problem at the beginning but now they get along just fine.

(Now & then they will spike at each other but that's normal). For natural reasons I don't recommend filling there claws. Cya!

Long nails?

I would suggest getting a specialized perch(made for nail care) and/or a toy called a "cuttle bone". It's a chalky object that you can find at most any pet store that serves as a toy as well as a way to naturally file the beak and claws.

NEVER try to cut a bird's nails yourself. they have large blood veins in their nails, and if cut wrong, they could crack and your bird could contract a fatal infection.

My best advice; have the nails FILED by a certified veterinarian.

Aw, how cute. They don't reach full coloration until they are two. My sun, Sunny, turned 5 on March 23rd and my Quaker, Nikki, will be 5 on April 19th. It goes fast!
