I would really like to know what your set up is on this. Gearing, mods, etc. It must have the fcr 39 to get the front end up so easy. What else, Please?
it's not my bike, but my mate has it dead standard although derestricted. it's geared pretty high with 15 front 39 rear. he pops it up in third easily but only in fourth gear off the crest of hills usually. fifth gear never, unless you had a very fast mobile crane helping out.
Very cool. I have a Yamaha xt 225 and a Suzuki 200. ( Both Dual Purpose )
Can anyone give me a accurate top speed of this bike, for commuting. What speed doees it go for it the bike to be in a normal RPM range, not screaming the engine.
yep, the top end isn't much of course, but the mid range is great for wheelies if you can keep it on the balancing point. my brother has a wrf450 and i think the mid range is comparable, but naturally the yamaha takes off at higher revs.
great vid nice riding. iv,e got a 400e and i love it. had a few road bikes but now i love getting muddy great fun.and there amazing for whelies.but yeh they do run out of speed on the roads but i love wheelie,s just hope i don,t get nicked
Anyone who post a negative comment has never ridden a DRZ before. Negatives there an ill bit heavy, it might be nice to have a six speed if they could figure out the supention or just mine.
yeah a six speed would be awesome. i do a lot or road riding so had to gear it to the max, but it's real slug taking off in first. an extra gear would solve all the problems.
Man, you know how to drive. I had a KLR 650 for a year, I was scared to do anything unconventional with it, waaay too heavy, I falled twice in a muddy trail what a disgrace to go offroad with this fat pig. I love dual purpose bikes however. My first bike was a DT200 like 10 years ago, I loved it. I'm thinking about this bike now.
yeah, a mate of mine has the KLR and we swap occasionally. very hard to get that front wheel up! it's fine for road work though. its cousin, the klx650 wasn't too bad though, a lot lighter and heaps more power, it was quite good for monos. done a short film about it here on youtube.
I had a drz full fmf 1 tooth lower on the front, and had trouble lofting the front in second, what ave you done to yours? Great vid by the way,, oh yea I sold for an 07 YZ450, wheely every gear without even pulling on the bars!!
actually i've geared it to the max for road riding, i think it's a 16 tooth on the front and 38 on the rear, so it's just burbling along at 100km/h or 60mph. i usually mono in third so it takes a real yank on the handlebars to get it up, not always successfully. but i can usually pop it up at 60kmh and run it out to 110kmh.
occasionally i dream of a yz450 for monos but i'd probably kill myself that much faster...
it is a fairly tall bike but you'll only know if it suits by riding it. google some reports on it and you'll find it is consistently rated the best dual purpose bike IF you want a good bike for road and trail. but of course WRs and KTMs etc will be better in the dirt. for the money, it's the best bike i've had.
If you can wheelie around bends with only a few weeks practice why are you wasting your time watching youtube. You should be working on your career as a professional stunter. Can you even ride a motorbike?
yeah, we don't claim be good riders by a long shot, there are heaps of better riders on youtube, but i've gotta admit it seems the only negative comments come from people who haven't posted a vid and probably can't even ride a bike. want professional stunts? buy a crusty demons dvd. want to check out rank amateurs and contributed positively to the online community? you makes your choice!
dunno, he's been practicing them for years. probably helps that he's on a slow bike ;-)

those were the standard 'trailwing' tyres from new, about 50/50 road trail so not too bad on the road actually...

motoandsk8 2 years ago
155kmh but you add the following:
- lying on the tank add 5kmh
- going to the toilet first add 1kmh
- down a cliff face add 95kmh

Woohoo, go DRZ! Looks like you don't need the extra horsies from a KTM to lift that front wheel after all.
