All you are comparing Asagi to Gackt, if you watch interviews of this band, Asagi looks up to Gackt, Ryuichi (Luna Sea), Juka (Moi dix Mois) for Vocal refrencing.

Gackt has aged. I find comparing Gackt to Asagi very biased. Since Asagi is young. His vocal is Stronger

Asagi's voice will deteriorate with age. Then another person will compare Asagi to another younger Vocalist.

If you should compare do stuff int the lines of:

Asagi(D) or Jun (ViDoll) - Modern

Gackt or Toshi (Xjapan) - Classic

Asagi is 35. This would make him only a year or two younger than Gackt, who is estimated be in his late 30s. So.... this isn't exactly a valid point.

Though it's true Gackt's voice has deteriorated. I'm not much a fan of his recently, but in his Mizer days I think Gackt and Asagi are indeed comparable in vocal strength.

Gackt being better in MM has been my position ever since I was able to say that I actually "knew" everything there was to publicly know about Malice, Mana, and Gackt.

Gackt by himself = Successful version of Klaha's Solo (meaning that I think it's not anything special)

Truth be told though, Asagi's voice is WAY more nasal than Gackt's, if you ask me.

Asagi is still better though--he has flair, while Gackt doesnt.

You're obviously not the ONLY one, but I have to say I do disagree with you. GACKT is an icon, he's an entertainer. I too think Asagi is awesome, but I think he have quite the challenge ahead of him if he is too surpass GACKT. Besides, I don't really think they are possible to compare. They represent two different musical worlds, Asagi and D are basically metal in my ears, GACKT does mostly everything. Do not get me wrong, I really adore D, in fact I'm seeing them this spring.

Because Asagi can sing such crazy songs like this one (:D), so it's really fun to listen to him. But Gackt has a 'color' of voice, that Asagi don't, so his songs are really calming. So I don't think it's good thing to compare them. But, well, do whatever you want :)

Well, it's been two years since I posted anything along the lines. I can say that my thoughts have changed. Not by much, but I find that while ASAGI is still my favorite, I'm not so ready to say everyone else sucks. lol Gackt, before he damaged his voice, was awfully similar to the way ASAGI is now, but the way his voice has sounded for the last few years (2-3) has a tone all it's own.

I like Gackt's music, and his voice, but ASAGI is more to my taste. <--what I should've said before

His range is way more distinct. Especially in Syndrome.

Kyo, as a live vocalist is pretty bad--these days anyway. He used to be really good back before he completely ruined his voice with all of his non-stop growling... I still like Diru, but Kyo's live-voice is dead.

Personally, I didn't care for Syndrome as much as I do D--mainly because of Kisaki I guess.

The only mainstream vocalist that is REALLY good, in my opinion, is Gackt...but there's a chance he lip-synchs, actually.

Even if not, Gackt isn't my fave.

Asagi and Kaya are my faves~

Eh...Kyo wasn't too bad when Diru came to Dallas last November...but I agree. His vocal quality now is nowhere near the 'Gauze' era.

Actually if you think about, Kyo has gotten better. I mean listen to the live of Toguro. It's just...perfect. Also his screams are more intense than any other J-rocker out there. His growls are some of the most low you can get. But Asagi is an amazing singer, but not live like Kyo. Dir en grey in my opinion is the best live band. Because they don't use playback. But, Gazetto bring the best performance...well besides X

Kyo has the best vocal range out of anyone I've ever heard. But in my opinion of best live vocalist, not studio, it's Roy Khan from Kamelot.

Asagi has one of the best ranges I've heard--not the best, but pretty great. Goes from sultry and deep to way up there with a falsetto... yup yup. Beats Gackt any day.

No, it's Asagi singing; IndagoFeather means that his voice sounds better in the PV than live.

Personally my thoughts are of the opposite opinion. I am in LOVE with this live. The only thing I really think sounds better in the PV version is the screaming bit; but this is a little over halfway through the concert, so he was most likely getting tired.

I just think live performances are much more impressive. :)
