It sounds beautiful, but I would like to correct the pronunciation. Ko rhymes with slow and kin rhymes with keen.
I'm looking for more information on the original flute, but I haven't found the kokin, other than as a bowed instrument similar to an erhu. I found shakuhachi, ryuteki, shinobue, nohkan and takebue, but so far no kokin flute. I continue my search.
Thank you for making these wonderful masterpieces Erik! I posted this short piece, the second fragment is your Kokin flute ;-) Take Care Erik and THANK YOU again
Amazing. I ordered a deep natural kokin. It just arived and it's beautiful. Lighter than I thought it would be. The amount of craftsmanship put into it is unreal. Inside there was a hand signed envelope saying. Thank you for your order. Also on the flute their is a carving on the bottom reading " erik 2010". And don't even get me started on the sound:)
This is the exact instrument that i have been looking for, not some shinny peace of metal with loads of interconnected valves but a simple instrument with an awesome sound. Now i just have to work out how to get my hands on one.
If I remember correctly, a traditional Kokin is even lower still than his last one there, and is more minor, those were definitely modified as he said.
Can that sound hole be only 5/16's from the end of the kokin?? Thanks
