actually if you forget the KOF story line

AOF's story took place about 10 years before Fatal Fury. so by the time Terry is as strong as he is today Ryo Sakazaki would have fully perfected Kyokugen so he would mop the floor with Terry

Looks like for this anniversary of KOF, a few notable charcter are going back to their "root" forms. But jeez, I can't get over how they just reverted Terry after his transition to MOTW from the past 2 games.. XD
