The Haunted Victorian Rose in Ventura County CA 7/20/2011

I stayed at this hotel in 2003 and 2004. The previous owners filled the common areas and the rooms wall to wall with wonderful antiquities and memorabilia. I had a wonderful stay both times, but I have to say this place is genuinely haunted!

The first room I stayed in is where I had experienced the most activity. For half the night it sounded like there was a raging storm outside, when it was actually just raining slightly. I was studying for an exam (bad choice of hotels for trying to concentrate!), and the storm noise and wind whistling got louder and louder through the night, until I finally told it to shut up. No joke...it DID!

Then about 1/2 hour later, I heard someone walk up to the door and try the door knob. It turned slightly. I waited a moment, and got up to open the door. Not a person in sight. It was very late at night and NO ONE staying there could or would have tried the door in that way, nor would they have had time to get back to a room without me seeing or hearing them.
