Why won't you? Schiff could still get the Republican nomination (although I doubt it). He just won't get to debate Dodd. And looking good in a debate against Dodd wouldn't be any great achievement at this point, with all the political baggage Dodd is carrying. At this point a can of sardines could beat Dodd. That's the only reason he's resigning.
