  • oh boy he is mad at that piano

  • Anyone notice at 2:06 it says "Asbestos" in the background?

  • Honestly whoever thinks that Walt was an anti-Semite should shut the fuck up with their stupidity. Using stereotypes in a cartoon makes him a racist? Welcome to the world of television and movies. Up until possibly the 80s extreme racial stereotyping in media was common, especially at the time this cartoon came out. and honestly it continues today in some of your favorite shows and movies. Even blacks and jews poke fun and stereotype their own people in hollywood. So kindly shut the fuck up.

  • @GummyBrains No gummybrains your pathetic. Disney hated jews and this antisemitism can be seen in various other collections of his cartoons

  • @supa1kat He never specified anything about hating Jews, so kindly shut the fuck up.

  • : \ why does it say asbestos on the theatre curtains?

  • It was not. Disney definitely engaged in stereotypes all the time, especially in the early days. It's a stretch to say that it is "anti-" anything. I wonder, will someday we look back on these current days and think that all the jokes about awkward Caucasians, studious Asians, and spicy, hip-shaking Latinos are "anti-"? Or can we just accept that it's cute and endearing to portray characters, and that characters include an element of the culture from which the hail?

  • 5:59 way to feel your music! =)

  • What's with Anti Semite scene? Disney = Jew hater??

  • @TheToddy30 i dont mean to be stupid, but how is that anti-semitic? I know that it is but how? Hes just dancing whilst dressed as a Hasidic Jew?

-information is being used for coursework-

  • 4:14 the anti-semitic scene

  • @getafack How was that anti semitic in any way?

  • @getafack i dont mean to be stupid, but how is that anti-semitic? I know that it is but how? Hes just dancing whilst dressed as a Hasidic Jew?

-information is being used for coursework-

  • This is on my channel too!

  • I hope that dont happen to my piano...

  • must be really hard to play Hungarian Rhapsody with only 4 fingers on each hand! bahahaha!

  • Why does it say asbestos on the curtain?

  • i just love mickey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • why is he wearing gloves. wats the point in that.

  • Notice the symbol of Islam on 4:04 was Walt Disney interested on Islam? I guess muslims must be really proud of their symbol on the first time Mickey wore gloves!

  • @playboysinistro

Nah. He was thinking of expanding to several countries at the time, one of them being Germany, so he was trying to learn about the different cultures.

  • 4:15 One reason why Walt Disney is said to be a jew hater

  • old school cartoons are wierd XD fat man humping up and down a horse ya very original XD

  • HOLY CRAP MICKEY HAD BUTT SECKS!!!!!

  • asbestos? WTH

  • awwwww i miss watching these episodes :(

  • The first piece Mickey plays is Rachmaninoff Op. 3 No. 2 In C Sharp Minor

  • Even watching this on such a modern piece of technology known as the internet and the laptop, it just feels like stepping back to 1929.

  • 5:55 that part made me smile :)

    <3

  • I love these kind of cartoons and the ones we have today. But I wish they kept these on T.V.

  • I love all the old cartoons they ROCK!!!! I always loved stuff like Loony Toons Tom & Jerry Popeye, but mostly Mickey Mouse. The cartoons they make today are just plain stupid. (Exept the nickeloedeon shows.) I wish tey would bring back EVERY old cartoon. If they do I might actually start WATCHING T.V.

  • At 6:25, what's that songs name again?? I always forget where it's from too ^-^;

  • <3<3 love it!

    0:20 barney's song.

  • 0:42 The broom comes to life... Yet, in Fantasia, he needed the sorcerer's hat to bring brooms to life...

  • hermoso me encanto es muy gracioso tambien mickey mouse es el mejor

  • 1:48 If only losing weight was that easy.

  • Did anyone esle catch the nazi march at :30?

  • @halo6534 ya man what is that.

  • From what I read on TV Tropes and Idioms this cartoon was the first time Mickey was ever seen wearing white gloves, also read that he and certain other Disney characters to exist this far back are some of the oldest examples of cartoon characters to wear white gloves. I guess it sort of set the trend for some other certain cartoon animals and even certain video game ones to do the whole wear white gloves thing.

  • @Thenumber1yoshi

hi i read up about mickey mouse on wikipedia and it says that mickey has the white globes on so u could tell his hands from his body when his hands where by his body as they were both black i just love these old mickey and im only 29 lol

  • Combining classical music with animal cruelty? NICE!

  • I miss the old time XD

  • Sounds like Rachmaninoff at 5:00, what is it? I know the rest is Liszt

  • 3:02 BUTT ALERT!

  • Classic disne's work is always a master piece.. Awesome..

  • this is what i call a REAL cartoon

  • They Should Seriously Remake These old Mickey Cartoons in Full Color

  • Yankee Doodle Dandy!!!

  • I'd like to see that fat pig in Epic Mickey. As well as Gideon Goat and Cat Nipp (the one smoking the pipe).

  • in the beggining isnt that barneys song ?

  • @teddiesluvyou Its Yankee doodle which sounds liek Barney's song

  • It sure is psychedelic now if only the morons stopped screaming 'racist' at every turn...

  • these scenes of Mickey Mouse i loved as a child... not the new trash... i miss my Mickey...

  • 3:40 felix?

  • Slight "Krazy Kat" vibes what with this outback imagery and the misspellings.

  • thats one awesome broom

  • This is just okay. Mickey Mouse shorts got A LOT better after this. There doesn't seem to be a solid idea or story, just a bunch of random tropes about classical music. My favorite part about this is mixing and blurring of the line between music and sound effects.

  • Don't you wish Walt and Ub Iwerks were immortals? Look what they have done to Mickey Mouse now, he's in 3D playing as a teacher in very damn episodes.

  • For years, I have been wondering what the title is of the song that plays over the opening credits and beginning sequences of this cartoon. The same tune can be heard in THE PLOWBOY.

  • 1:58 - 2:08

  • 2:20???name of that piece?

  • I think is "Carmen" by George Bizet.

  • @vriosm There are several pieces used from Carmen - just before that is Toreador ("Votre toast") and at 2:20 is the Habanera ("L'amour est un oiseau rebelle"). Toreador is again heard when the bubbles are popped at 3:05.

  • @talageorge It's FROM the Opera Carmen. The song is Habanera Georges Bizet.♫

  • @talageorge Habanera from Carmen

  • @talageorge

    Carmen Suite

A suite is like a number os pieces playes together as one (is obvious not the complete piece, just a part of it, mostly the most known part)

  • @talageorge its habanera

  • @talageorge Its the Habanera from Carmen by Bizet. (:

  • @talageorge habanera

  • @talageorge habanera

  • It's not fair that we live in a time where nothing is new or exciting anymore like this would have been in those days.Nobody cares about quality nowadays.

  • Is it me, or do Walt Disney's earliest mickey mouse cartoons seem strangely psychedelic?

  • 3:19 ... this dance is kinda racist.... :/

  • Only if you're an overly sensitive American.

  • @michaelandcarina i'm neither american nor am i particularly sensitive, but the last bit is a blatant characterisation of a hasidic jewish man, it's even mentioned a number of times in different articles online written independently of each other

    :)

  • 1:54 ha-ha he looks like a rapper with those baggy pants

  • you know that Asbestos is greek word?

  • wow, it's hard to believe cartoons didn't have any voices and just music. These are pretty cool!

  • waaaaaaay better than Ben 10

  • @NeatStuff86 lol, i like how you say Ben 10 instead of the unoriginal people who say stuff like "Hanna Montana" or something along those lines.

  • Is the big Hippo-like guy riding Horace Horsecollar?

  • This was the first cartoon that the white gloves appared.

  • mickey is soo funny

  • Says "Asbestos" on the curtain because many of the lights used in early stage shows used candles and then very bright/hot/dangerous lights. Asbestos if fire proof.

    Also causes cancer, though!

  • Mickey and his affairs with brooms.

  • I wanna know why the curtain said 'Asbestos' on it...

  • Mickey is the CUTEST mouse in the world!!

  • 4:15 wow, if that shit isn't racist I don't know what is.

  • Cute.. SIMPLY ADORABLE you have got to love Mickey Mouse :D!!!!

  • he also combines the rhapsody with the rachmaninoff prelude in c sharp minor op. 3, no. 2 =)

  • 4:16 is the Hasidic Jew.

  • This is supposed to be the first video shown of him with gloves.

  • he's the snake charmer in this as well.

  • Hi !

We are french pupils ( we are sorry for our english :s )

We are doing a presentation about Mickey's evolution. So we would like to know if you could give us your video please we'll need it . Thanks Bye

  • Sorry, but I can't send the video to you. You can find this and another Old Mickey Mouse cartoon on a DVD "Walt Disney Treasures - Mickey Mouse in Black and White, Volume Two".

  • classic

  • well very well.

    Domy

  • Fantastic!!!!

    50 millions stars

    Leo =)

  • 4:16= mickeys a jew

  • Yes, doing a Jewish dance that they used to do in my own synagogue (I'm Jewish too)... love it!

  • lol

  • mickey playin the piano -love it xD

  • Nothing beats classic Disney. It always puts a smile on my face.

Now if you excuse me I'm going to go pull on my cat's tall in an attempt to make music.

  • JA,JA,JA... Thats funny :D

  • Why is not on Color

    WTF

  • technicolor was not invented at 1929

  • Actually technicolor did exist back then, but only in the two-strip form, which used shades of red and green. The three-strip technicolor process did not come by until 1932, used for the first time in Disney's FLOWERS AND TREES.

Black and white was used more often in this era because it was cheaper.

  • some episodes from the early era was colorised in the 80s but this one wasent

  • first time wearin gloves eh?

    found that out

  • I love the old Mickey Mouse, the best of Disney in my opinion. They were so cool in the twenties/thirties

  • 5:00<-I couldn't stop laughing. That's good old fashion comedy. You can't find something as simple as that nowadays and be that funny.

  • 4:15 - Mickey dances like a Jew. o_O

  • So what? I'm Jewish and I've seen that dance in my own synagogue (-:

  • it's like playing piano on mushrooms, sweet

  • man these rock a lot better then what they put on disney now

  • i agree 100 percent.

a few of years ago they used to have a special thing every night on the disney channel where they played old cartoon shorts (like these), old episodes of the original mickey mouse club, zoro, etc. they stopped it though...i miss it!

  • Ha Ha, Asbestos!

Also at the end of the Belly Dancing part was that squinched-up-old-guy character Micky was doing sappost to be any body in particular cuz it looks like it could be some celebrity that was famous back in the 20s but is long since dead so no one would now him today.

  • ah...the classics!

  • Mickey Mouse Rocks My House. LOL

    ^-_-^

  • funny!

  • I like the part when Paino bites him

  • I used to get up early at 5 oclock and watch the ink and paint club when I was 4 5 6 7 8 and 9

  • yea, the ink and paint club was the best during those times

  • grandioso! :)

i love this video, all my life!

  • bellissimo e commuovente

  • nice quality =)

  • the part where mickey's belly dancing has the most infectious music ever to grace the soundtracks of the 1920's

  • this is 1t cartoon with gloves..
