I think they are more stupid than the intern for putting up a picture of frederick douglas instead of steven douglas. A debate between Abe Lincoln and Frederick Douglas wouldn't be a debate at all. It would be an agreeance.
If you're bragging about making someone else look stupid, but the joke is on you because you're the real idiot, and you're doing it on the air, then you probably work at Fox News.
@mpeachw57 It has everything to do with their political views. Being misinformed and disinterested and loudy professing facts that are complete made up nonsense to prove a point is what being a Republican is all about! This is hardly the only example of the thousands of things Fox News has gotten wrong just in the past 2 years.
Am I the only one who hopes the intern did it on purpose to get back at this guy for being an jerk? Way to pester your interns and then brag about it.
AHAHAH. Way to put Frederick Douglass, one of the most famous abolitionists of all time in the picture instead of Stephen Douglas, the "little giant" maker of the Kansas-Nebraska Act. Classic Fox. Lincoln and Douglass actually agreed with each other (at least in principle - Lincoln was not initially for freeing all blacks and giving them equal rights). But they were both abolitionists - just to varying degrees.
I don't no what's worse, them thinking people are too stupid not to see through this thinly vailed rasist crap, or knowing that the average fox viewer is.
Wow! I didn't realize that, during slavery, a black man made a serious run at the White House! That's amazing. Thanks for the history lesson, Fox News!
First off, that's Fredrick Douglass, an escaped slave. Second off, if they knew that was Fredrick Douglass, they still spelled it wrong because it's Stephen Douglas then Fredrick Douglass. I swear, we live in a seriously messed up nation. Good luck getting past that one Fox! Wow.
Fox and Friends is painful to watch, although this weekend crew isn't quite as insufferable as the Monday-Friday brain trust that is Doocy, Carlson, and the legally retarded Brian Kilmeade.
Aparently the folks at Fox News possess fewer neurons than an average garden potato. To mix up Frederick Douglass, an escaped slave who wrote polemics against the institution, and Stephen Douglass promoting the chattel rights involved in the expansion of slavery into the territories. Fair and Balanced indeed!

Sometimes I think Fox knowingly puts up false information to test how ignorant their viewer base is.

So does that mean they thought a black man was running for president then? Or do they also not know what the debates were?

the Douglas/Lincoln debates were actually for the Illinois senate, only pointing that out so we can continue to stay above Fox's level

Yeah, I was like, "D'oh!" about two seconds after I posted the reply. Oops. Yes, the race was for the Illinois Senate.

I can't believe things like this can happen on accident. It's not possible.
Haven't the people over at Faux News ever heard of Wikipedia? It's 2008 - all you have to do is type "lincoln douglas" into Google and click a link.
How is it possible to make a mistake like this?
