  • Any ideas how he does the art history brush tick for keeping tight outlines?

  • amazing art...what's the dpi on a piece like this...my computer chugs when I go bigger then 10'' x 10'' at 300dpi so Im forced to draw a smaller pic then I want to...

  • Just want to notice this tutorial is on Discount only $7.99 from normal price $60. Go get it!

  • great work and I love the nuggets of wisdom in there but if this distracting (shit imo) music is on the download I ain't buying :(

  • What i don't understand is how come he has another window of the finished painting? Doesn't the dvd cover the painting from beginning to end?

    Thanks.

  • @lucaddragon It's his sketching for study. If you see full video in the beginning he show up 2 sketching done before actual record this real painting (video you see here). I guess you must confusing just like me because the sketching on the right is so much detail... but it's just his sketch not the final piece.

  • @Painrinya oh i see! thanks a lot for telling me!

  • I have to dovetail on what he said.

It's not as simple as "just start drawin' "

It's hard work. Seriously. Fun work but hard work. You have to study, a LOT and most of all you have to "think" about what you're doing. And even then it's still not easy.

But it is very doable if you constantly learn and constantly apply.

  • This guy is on some futuristic crack shit !... skillz are so insane

  • Put down the Bong and start Drawing?

I'd say, pick up the Bong and start Drawing.

Smoking helps me Draw way better.

  • "Put down the bong"... for real, like, look at the Beatles. They were doing, "she loves you, yeah yeah yeah" & then Bob Dylan came along & introduced them to cannabis... next thing ya know we've got Revolver & Rubber Soul & all this super creative work which has lots of critical acclaim. What's up with that? Keep it bland, draw monsters with breasts: no cannabis allowed. HAHAHAHAHA

  • @tobynsaunders Yeah but there is a fine line...as an artist myself I know it is easy to cross the line into overt intoxication and become way less productive. Inspiration from weed is great and I do it myself but the amount of hours you need to spend working on art precludes being a constant deadbeat stoner. Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration after all.

As for implying this art is "bland" due to a lack of bong hits, you are kind of crossing into dickhead territory there...sorry.

  • i like this guy, i saw an add for this in imaginefx

  • I've been chatting with this over deviantart, and he taught me A LOT. He wrote me a long note telling me how to improve my art skills.I told him I always had this feeling about better artists - that I would never ever become as good as they are and so on. He replied:

  • @bananforhud

""I know that feeling you speak of.

You look at other peoples work and despair and think youll never, ever be good enough, that it seems to come so easily for them and harder for you; that you dont have what it takes and never will.

You must learn to use that feeling.

Use it and focus it to an edge that no razor could match."

  • did he use the mouse all the way? how can u do that just with the mouse??

  • @GavinoPro He used a drawing tablet, like a Wacom Intuos A4.

  • super

  • thats insane dude... How do you draw the hair of the women so the light of the background comes trough the edges and how do you drag the sec on the gasmask guy from the right?? please make some tutorials !

  • I like that he uses ps7, just to prove that you don't have to have big programs to make amazing art.

  • Handsome Brad rocks!

  • Getting rid of the plastic look --> use some textures or paint some textures in there

  • "what are you willing to give up...." true words man.. -_-

  • but speeding things up like this makes it so much more diffuse. Its hard to grasp what hes doing actually. I mean, hearing him talking about bod language and all isnt THAT new insightful information.

  • 60 BUCKS? jeez thats robbery! the other artists tutorials are at a reasonable price imo...

  • @booya2k The other Artist tutorials are not 4.5 hours long.

    Most are not even 2hrs

  • where can I get the song, playing in the background ? its not on the artists myspace :)

  • @bloodlessza /watch?v=kDro46vVau8

  • 3:30

" put down the ball, put down the controller and draw !"

fuck yea that what I started doing 2 weeks ago

this man is my HERO now !!!

  • @Striarii think he said put down the bong.

  • @dawilli2

    That makes it better !

  • You must have spent countless hours to reach that level...God, I'm still outlining like a monkey and there you are, painting characters with a "shadow build". Thanks for the ass kick/wake up call/lesson!

If you guys come by Montreal, I'm the first attendee!

  • This is madness!!!! He's works are insane!!!

  • is he painting from a painting he already did of the same thing?

  • lol did he say put down the bong? no but in all seriousness he is right 100%.

  • @skrface13 i know. drawing is the only thing that makes me think to myself "maybe i shouldn't smoke just yet..." haha

  • Stunning work! I wonder though why you chose to recreate so much, rather than simply refine your "thumbnail" which seems less like a thumbnail to me and more like an early version of the painting?

  • @ScoobyDoofus He probably didn't record the thumbnails and even if he did, since it's a process tutorial he has to start from scratch anyways.

  • There is one thing i dont like of your videos ( and i have a few) The artist NEVER explain step by step what is he doing, WHY is doing it, and the most important part if you want to consider this a TUTORIAL: HOW CAN WE DO IT.

If i buy a DVD only for watching how an artist create (and yes, in the dvd is not speed motion, but neither slow, and there are no explanations of what is he doing and why on every step) i´ll never learn anythyng.

It supposses that i buy this for learn the how to!!!!!!

  • @eduki - Sometimes figuring things out on your own is a much more rewarding experience. These DVD are a guide as to the thought process behind a painting, not an exact step-by-step tutorial. This particular DVD is also not a beginner lesson and if you're still at the stage that you need to be shown each and every step of a painting, CryptCrawler's tutorial is probably not for you.

  • @NeecHMonkeY I understand, then this DVD is for the 1% that looking at an speed motion with no explanations of what is he doing, is able to understand clearly what is he doing and follow the same steps. Good business for who did the vids

  • @eduki @eduki I think what you are looking for is learning about painting/drawing fundamentals. Photoshop, pencils, crayons, brushes.. are just tools and you are the engine that guides them. In order for the engine to guide these tools properly you need to learn the fundamentals and do studies -> draw/paint paint from life or other reference.

  • how much do theze ppl get paid for doing art like this

  • @the0metal good question

  • very inspiring

  • I most of this video sped up like that or is the painting in real time?

  • @goldenlarry the actual video is sped up,

but not nearly as much as the trailer.

  • @goldenlarry CrimsonDaggers =D!

  • very impressive. can't wait to purchase this tute.

love d soundtrack too. could anyone link me to the artist/track?

  • pffft, dumbass me... just noticed the music it in the opening.

  • @trypt84 hello!! i am the artist for the music the track is called Desert Dwellers and it has not yet been released other then on some of the dvd tutorials but i will probably put it up on youtube :)

  • 2:38 is KEY! listen up...

  • @TIKOMIX put down the bong, pick up the papers

  • BEST artist i've ever seen

  • awezome, gonna get when i have the time n money

  • Brad you are totally amazing. Awesome video. I hope it does incredibly well. So proud of you. Betty

  • man i wish i could paint like this... :(

  • impossible....

  • Awesome! Looking forward to this one for sure!

  • wow..... gotta download that.

Way different approach than Jason Chan......or mayB not.

  • Fantastic!

  • Cryptcrawler you're badass. your rendering is awesome. I'm really looking forward for this one :)

  • That's funny. He said he loves drawing 'brutes'. I misheard him and thought he said he loves drawing 'boobs'. But then again, who doesn't.

  • One word : Brilliant.

  • I like this guy. Definitely going to check this out. Gonna have to get the bong while I watch it though, because I know it's going to inspire me to draw and I won't be able to pick up later. LOL.

  • Wow, inspirational, I was going to stop drawing for the night and get some torchlight played, but screw that! I'm gonna draw some more!

  • Amazing!

  • Really sweet work dude!
