I've been to NYC,and yes it has a great subway system,probably the best in the entire country.But let's not discredit LA's rail system, once the greatest in the country (Look up Pacific Railway). Long before cars became king in Los Angeles railways and subways were the fastest way to travel in Los Angeles.I ride the Gold Line to downtown LA and periodically run into the Mayor at Southwest Museum Station. Despite having big expensive SUV's i have seen him ride without cameras by his side.

I remember back in July 1990 when they opened the Blueline from long Beach to L.A. then the Greenline opened in 1994 running down the middle of the I-105, then came the Redline to Wilshire, Hollywood & Universal City, then came the Goldline to Pasadena from L.A.
