  • Nathaniel is a great musician . Try to play trumpet, violin , cello and contrabass anytime soon.....

  • i dont understand how people can listen to what this man is saying and thing it is just jibberish. His descriptions of Beethoven, his tunnel, and music in general are GENUIS once you actually take the time to think about what he is saying.

  • He just needs to sit down with the Tuning CD.

  • did mr. lopez say this is the relationship he earned the most from?

  • wow

  • Downey and fox were both perfect for the parts

  • the soloist is an exelent book. i had to read it for school summer reading . i really don't like to read but this was one of those books that you just can't put down. it is an amazing story. it is crazy that this is real.

  • this is such an amazing story.

i saw the movie, and i'm reading the book right now.

nathaniel ayers is a phenomenal musician! :)

  • I thought this movie, when i first saw it was a fucking downer, but then when i researched this guy, i realized how exaggerated the movie was and that i didn't have all the acts

    sorta good movie

  • i hope the best for Mr. Ayers's future...and i hope his demons are laid to rest someday

  • makes yiou feel happy that some people can make a difference in someones life.

The Soloist was sad ,but happy.

  • Most people don't realize that you can still be a genius despite a mental illness. The fact that he can interpret the orchestra's score in such a way and play all those instruments perfectly is testament that he's not a lost cause. We need to re-evaluate how we treat the mentally ill.

  • How did we just NOW discover this man after so many years of his playing on the streets!? Did no one stop to ask him about his ability of music at all until Lopez? Incredible, he is. It blows my mind...

  • The Soloist was amazing.

  • thank you so much for posting this vid

  • I saw the movie "The Soloist" and I was so moved, I had to look him up, and find more info about him. He is so humble and he is such an individual. He is just a great guy.

  • I just saw this movie. It was very good.

Hooray for the both of these men.

  • I was really moved by this piece!

  • I wonder if he'll get any money from the movie?

  • they did offer him a big check, but he refused to take it. i tell you he is such an inspiration, and so humble.

  • i will cry if he dies or doesnt get better, only what..1,500 views..this deservs more,,more like in themillions..simpley amazing..love him..(not gay way).

  • WOW that was really great!

what an inspirational story of a great man!

  • dear lord, that music he playes is amazing, some of the best ive heard, almost brought me to tears

  • Bravo to Mr. Ayers and Mr. Lopez.. As an RN who works with many who have mental illness, this is a wonderful story to bring forward. I hope all will support the upcoming movie. I expect Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey will hit a homerun with this one. I hope an academy node comes out of it too! Bravo Mr. Ayers

  • It starts like this "...once again in a sunny Sunday I went to the hilltop close by walking along a rather short road to its top, so beautiful the time I stood under a dense tree on the hilltop, only wathcing the wind blowing the leaves. I could carry a piece of music in mind too when I wanted to..." and then it goes to how the cops missed him, and then goes to how God has shown him His wrath. How can we help these people hunted by this vicious mental illness?

  • If someone finds the answer to that, I will be forever in their debt...And among the most grateful mothers on Earth...

  • As the mother of a son diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, this story is bittersweet....I know all too well the descent into madness, the fragmented thoughts and obsessive ones, the rage, hatred, anger that can be exibited and also the tender, lucid, loving moments. This is my challenge, to continually love my son, remembering always to divide him from his illness in the tough moments, and embracing it for the vulnerability it brings him. I wish this were just a news story for me, though.

  • Bravo Mr Ayers!!!

I am proud of you, and so very grateful that you have allowed us into your life. Your story have touched me to my core.

A foundation, a book, and a movie honoring your life while you are still living is an honor that very few will ever have,

You are an inspiration and a symbol of hope.

God Bless You, and thank you Mr Lopez for bringing Mr Ayers' story to the world!!!!

  • Great stories like these are why i love 60 minutes...

  • I'm so proud of both of you!
