American Eskimo Doing Tricks

We rescued a Eskie/Golden Retriever mix about three years ago. Great dog with a lot of energy. Smart little dog but has a rather independent nature so it takes a great deal of training. Fortunately, we found someone who specializes in nordic and primitive breeds of dogs for training.

I miss my American Eskimo, we lost him last year in July 2011, he didn't no tricks but he was a good companion to me. Cupid was his name. Now we have a 5lb dog that bites,barks, begs and licks and want 150 percent attention

@javiermami if your Eski is not trained that could be a reason for her acting up. also if she isnt getting enough exercise than that could be another reason. Eskimos are very smart and if you do not give them training they can become destructive.

yeh i can see that now she's house trained and other but not discipline i think all dogs have napoleon complex shes really smart she doens't destroy stuff in the house it's just with ppl she acts like a bitch when ppl rub her she gets mad and want to bit them she's a dictator controlling. my mom dog she's annoying i can't stand blanca evil dog i ever meet. haha i don't mess with the dog but ur right she needs training haha.

@vina0422 It really just comes natural to me but i would reccomend going to a pet store and buying training treats and its all about reppitition and praise. try to get them to do the trick by useing the treat to lead them and then when they do it u treat them and u just have to keep doing it till they get into their mind that when they do the motion they get treated.

oh my god, that was so cool! i have a miniature eskimo who's 9 yrs old and i couldn't imagine him doing any of those tricks. he won't even sit, lay down or stay for you xD he's spoiled :)

i have a standard eskimo she's 2 years old and she must have been the runt in the litter because she misbehaves to where we are trying to kennel train her all she knows is sit, lay, go, and high-five

Wow...  I'm very impressed! Eskimos are very smart and they learn quick.. but you did a great job! How old is your eskimo? I have one too! But I can't seem to teach it to speak.. AT ALL. He rarely barks.

I love this! What a Beautiful Doggy! I have 6 Mini Schnauzers (5 girls, 1 boy)..and they are just as smart :) driving 200 miles from, Va, to NC on Sunday to get another new, White Mini Sch. Puppy! my american eskimo is so hard to teach tricks too the only one he likes is sit and lay down. and i got a qweastion i got my eskimo from the shealter and he will never play and he was young dog but the only play he will do is rough play.

@babygirlall247 then he must of had a hard life before u rescued him. if he bites u when u try to play the best way is to buy a clicker or make a loud high pitch sound when he gets too rough and tell he no bad boy. and u have to keep it up so that he will know when he does that its bad. there could be a possibility that he isnt a full breed and that may be way he is stubborn.
