  • Eh they tried. Not bad but all the synth parts are not there. What the hell is the ad for Pepsi doing in this. Grrrrr.

  • u2 they can play everything!

  • every time I hear U2 do someone else's song, I always say the same thing. BETTER than the original artist!

  • This is really terrible. They should have passed no this cover.

  • uno de los mejores rocanroles de todos los tiempos , gran version de u2

  • Keep pretending The Who is great, just don't compare Superbowl performances.

  • @HyperU2 they were in their fucking 60's you dumbass

  • @sulmagnificent They sucked ass before that.

  • @HyperU2 Let's see how good you are at your job once you get into your 60s.

  • @TheSanityInspector Let's see how good U2 is in their sixties. I saw the who when they were in their 50's and it blew. Not so for U2 last year.

  • don't forget U2 inducted the who into the rock and roll hall of fame.

  • magic magic magic guitar

  • wow!!

  • U2 -- Cool as always.

Postings here suggest there's some sort of attempt or contest. I'm not sure what this is based on. Is this a competition??

  • Comment removed

  • A great band paying tribute to the best band of all time. Thanks for posting.

  • what a shit cover !!!! take singing lessons bonehead,(hewson),and check out the van halen cover,u fake....wdnt mind but joshua tree was o.k,coz it suited your limited voice range....awful take on a classic song

  • @watford623 I agree, the Van Halen version with Hagar totally rinses U2's lame attempt.

  • It may be an easy song, but they still make it sound a little different from the other versions on youtube. I really liked Edge´s solo as well.

  • bad publikum. GUYS this is rock n roll so jump!!!

  • This never should have been attempted. Fuck you Bono.

  • close but no Who

  • Great. This is pure rock´n roll.

  • Well Bono had a lot people and bands that influenced him but,if you read rock interviews that he has done in print,The Who had the most influence on him.So i tip my hat to the man for knowing good music himself just like the rest of us.

  • tbh, this isnt a bad version. the one thing i dont like is the lazy way in which bono actually sings it. there`s none of the punch of the daltrey/townshend original, which lets it down somewhat. not meaning to sound up my own arse, its just an opinion

  • Hey, the Who are my favorite all-time band, but this is OK. I'm surprised U2 would play this song as it is, if nothing else, counter-revolutionary, or at least not revolutionary. Of course, this is a plodding version of the song, without the "swing" of the Who's original. In fact, it's kind of bland. But it's OK.

  • U2 is only the biggest band in the world for all you haters out there. So quit your belly aching all you cry babys.

  • You gotta be frikkin' kidding me...

  • @5jerry1 No I don't think you were singled out to be kidded.

  • What a pile of pimply shit, the only thing here thats played anywhere close to the original is the guitar, Adam 'Mr Rootnote' Clayton has to be the most overated Bassist ever. U2 are the worst band in the world, there are thousands upon thousands of talented musicians out there who would give anything to be doing half the things U2 have done but will never get recognised for their talents while this lot of idiots cream it for all they can.

  • bono just has the face you wanna kick hard.such arrogant pricks.a few good songs yeah.thats about it.overrated tax dodging self obsessed wankers.not very good either actually lol

  • U2 is my favorite band but bono doesnt have enough agression for this. its good but its not him. kinda like when they did the ramones' beat on the brat

  • Insipid. Uninspired. Never liked them anyway but this has reinforced my belief that if I ever met Bono in the street that I'd kick him a ruddy good punch in the cock.

  • funny how the U2 audience goes wild when they start singing a cover song.

U2 had a few good songs, but they are way overrated.

  • What an incredibly uninspired performance. Way to lower the bar again, U2.

  • I'm sorry, but I just don't like Bono. Not as a person, but there's something about him that makes me want to punch him in the face...

  • One iconic band pays yeoman's tribute to another. Good stuff.

  • This good cover only shows how incredible and unbeatable is The Who Rock ´n´ Roll style. U2 are good but they can be compared with the magic of The Who music..

  • edge carries them the rhythm section dont have alook in with keith moon and jon entwistle

  • A pedestrian walk through of the song. They've removed the swing from it, the drums are boring, and the bassplayer sounds bored. U2 should be able to do better, this is not up to their level.

  • @genglemt I absolutly agree with you . Do you know MOTORPSYCHO it's the only band I know that did a fucking great who cover, in fact it's not a who song either because they also covered it. I'm talking about the young man blues. motorpsycho (3 man) manage to rock this song harder than the who did (with 4 man)

  • Okay, I love The Who and I love U2. Check out The Dirty Cricks covering this song on my channel. The guitar player converted the keyboard part to guitar. Very unique and cool sounding. Hope you like.

  • ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡WHERE'S THE FUCKING EPIC GREAT KEYBOARD ON THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!

    U2 MAKE ME DISSAPOINTED...

  • The best part of the original version of this song was the incredible drumming by Keith Moon. The straight forward drumming here makes it kind of a boring song.

  • U2 Are Cunts

  • @raysoul45 agreed they are the biggest cunts in rock......and bonos the biggest cunt of all.such a wanker in every way.

  • This would have been a lot cooler if Bono hadn't kept fucking it up. The Edge and the rest of the band were really doing good but Bono just keeps screwing around.

  • David Howell Evans a/k/a "The Edge," as usual, rocks this one.

  • good singing..bad bass arrangements, drums not quite, guitars- ok enough

  • @batuts71 the vocals were too gay for this song

  • Suck so bad, Van Halen did a much better cover

  • Really amazing cover... just not the same without the scream :( It is Rock's defining moment

  • the best cover ever by the best band ever..

  • Won't get fooled again isn't the same sang by U2....

I love U2 as I love The Who, okay... But imagine The Who singin' "Sunday Bloody Sunday" ??

  • Learn the fucking bassline!

  • @gerbear93

For one night? For the only time they've ever played the song. It's fine.

  • Yeah fuck off all you miserable cunts !!

The boys are just havin' a bit of fun and sound great doing it.

Course it's not their style, That's why they're U2 and not The Who !!

Cover versions are not an attempt to "better" or "match" the original, it's just one person's or one group's personal and unique interpretation of it.

So all of you sad miserable pricks should pull your fucking heads out of your asses and lighten up a bit !!

  • This isn't too bad, although it doesn't have the edge (get it) of the Who.

  • Hullucination great name for an idiot!

  • BONO YOU SUCK!

  • @jonathangallegos2008

    Respect Johnny, respect

  • This must be the Feminine version!

These guys are a good band but out of their league here!

  • FUCKING DOUCHEBAGS.

If you really get the thing, you understand that it's a great tribute from U2 to The Who. I think.. as a Who fan it should be really cool to see U2 doing this stuff. Playing a cover of one of there influences.

  • Comment removed

  • Apparently everyone in the band except Bono actually rehearsed this anthem...

  • what a piece of shite

  • I like the way Bono was making up the words.

I played this song for years in a band. U2 did a great job with the fluidity of the beat that Keith Moon established.

  • @martinofm I don't know man, i thinks this doesn't has as much energy as it has with Moon on the drums. But still, pretty good cover, it's just to bad Bono's voice sucks compared to Daltrey.

  • er... dont kill me but... i dont like it. The Whos is better, The Who with Noel Gallager is better, Pete Townshends acoustic version is better, but if you like U2 i guess you'll prefer this version.

  • U2 did a good job here, but what is even a better cover for this song is the Van halen cover from 1993, check that out, it kicks ass..

  • Imagine getting paid to have that much fun...

  • Larry is so great here. I caught myself only watching him.

  • The bass player doesn't even try to play it properly does he?

  • I love THE WHOand I love U2 - I am really happy with this - IT's A GREAT COVER AND WHY NOT!!! A great guitar solo from The Edge

  • I love THE WHOand I love U2 - I am really happy with this - IT's A GREAT COVER AND WHY NOT!!!

  • Well done U2 - a real tribute to the best band of all time

  • U2 does this song justice!

  • Of course this had to be full of miserable cunts with their fucking 'fuck Bono' antics.

Why don't you tossmongers get a life or switch to teenage porn full-time.

  • good music but bono's vocal sound don't suit

  • Eh, it's great that the lads pay tribute to their rock forebears and everything. But The Edge's style is ill-suited to this song. Thanks for posting, but I wasn't convinced. And I love both bands, for what they uniquely are.

  • Awesome band. Fantastic message, more relevant today than ever...

"Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent." - Victor Hugo

    Let's NOT be fooled again >>>>>>> >>>>> >>>> >>> >> >

    VictusOptime ~ TLC

  • Fucks sake folks - good cover but look at the cunt - hes holding a guiter - twat !! I love you all and will be normal tommorow.....................

  • The Who & Noel Gallagher is the best version

  • @DannyMadFerIt Look up a fellow named Torghoover on YT, and see his re-edit of the version from The Kids Are Alright. It's apocalyptic.

  • Oh!! By the way, Arguing about "insults & free opinions" I forgot about the only thing that should matter here and now: THE SONG.

Very difficult task, that of covering The Who (best live rock band ever), but very GOOD JOB done by U2, I must admit!

  • This lot aren't even good enough to lick the bottom of Pete Townshends boots. How did George Harrison describe them - 'Cloth ears'!

  • Love U2-nice tribute to the greatest band The Who

  • I feel like the luckyest guitar fan alive I get to watch people like the Edge all the time on you tube thanks alot ! you tube! You're great! I ve been buying all kinds of DVD's for years, but now I can watch clips here and there and know that it's worth it before I buy them. Rock on U2 you are awesome!

  • I think that the weak vocals here lack the power needed to do this cover justice. The Van Halen version has the power in the vocals with Sammy Hager, and I'm no Hager fan.

  • The Who is better than U2 :D

  • Bono sounds AWFUL. Kill him.

  • Bono can't sing since the 90s.

  • @lesassassins You mean Bono can't sing as well as he did, during the 90's. Roger Daltrey never really could sing, anyway.

  • @aldefield Are you a retard or a U2 fan? Well, is the same thing, anyway.

  • @lesassassins Why type an abusive, low mentality remark, like that, just because I expressed an opinion? Have you seen a psychiatrist?

  • @aldefield Wow, I feel really bad about this, I'm so sorry, please forgive me brother.

  • @lesassassins You Sir, talk shit !!

  • @aldefield

I DO NOT agree with @LESASSASSINS´ opinion that an U2 fan must be a retard, but -bearing in mind what you said- you deserved the insult, man. I´m really sorry bout saying this, trust me!! But how can anyone say that DALTREY COULD NEVER SING!!??

I accept ANY OPINION, but that´s not an opinion, mate!!, that is YOU being AN ARROGANT & DISRESPECTFUL IGNORANT. PERIOD!!

  • @apataye How can you say that you don't agree with LESASSASSINS opinion and then say I deserved it? Why is it that you think LESASSASSINS has expressed an opinion and it's not arrogant, disrespectful and ignorant, but mine is arrogant etc and not an opinion? It seems to me that you'll accept any opinion as long as you agree with it. By the way, I like the Who. I once saw them live. They were great and I couldn't hear for a few days afterwards.

  • @aldefield

Don´t want to argue & don´t like offending, but -just bcause of that- I don´t accept ANY insult.

IT´S SIMPLE, MAN: I DO NOT approve LesAssassins´ opinion that "a U2 fan is a retard", but I insist that U DESERVED the "radical" answer Lesassassins gave 2 you, just bcause YOU OFFENDED US ALL saying "Daltrey never could sing".

Try to note the difference between an opinion and an insult. I´M NOT ENTITLED to pontificate bout your "mum´s honesty", am I? Would u get offended if I did?

  • @apataye You seem to get things strangely inverted. You say you don't want to argue, without realising that you started one with me. If I say I don't think somebody can sing, that's an OPINION. If somebody calls somebody else a retard, that's an INSULT. That's simple. You like to think it's the other way round because you don't agree with my OPINION, as I said before (cognitive bias). Why get offended about my opinion of Daltrey, as if it's the same as questioning your mother's honesty?? US ALL?

  • @lesassassins Dear Sir or Madame,

I am very pleased to inform you that basically, you talk shit !!

  • bono ur a twat u cant play rock music u irish cunt especially the who

  • just not the same

  • WHO IS THE BEST!

  • WHO IS THE BEST?

  • U2 très loin des Who quand meme

  • @niko65 I did not understand your comments at first but I translated them and they are brilliant. Also I have the same name as you which is cool.

  • Il sert a quoi le bassiste ?

Entwisle doit pleurer dans sa tombe !

  • Proof of how great The Who is. Not even u2 can come close to touching them.

  • @spartanwarrior340 my friend, U2 owned this song.

  • @crashj71 I won't lie, I love U2. They have tremendous musical talent and wonderful stage presence. But, so does The Who. This is a Who song and nobody will ever come close to matching it.

  • @crashj71 bullshit. Dont fuck with a The Who Song. U2 just did it. Such bad taste in the mouth.

  • @nicky196427 Yeah like that taste you get when you kiss a scabby dog, I should not have done that. But I gave the homeless dude a cig and the dog looked so thankful. And he hoopped on me. Yeah Bono your nowt but a scabby dog. Fuck your biggest poo record sick it back up your arse you two faced cunt. Pay for a hat to be sent first class half way round the world then tell me and mine that our tiny bit of beer and fun money should be donated to hungry foreigners. Fuck off you cunt!

  • @crankfrank76 Can tell I think this cunt is worse than Rose Wests cunt

  • @crankfrank76 I don't think I have ever seen such a sickly, insensitive, cruel and vile remark in all my years on Youtube. How can any human being stoop so low? You're simply disgusting.

  • @crankfrank76 Humans like you are a wastrel and a waste of time and manpower. Nothing good comes out of your filthy mouth. You need to go back to school and brush on your language and manners. Then you should be given the firing squad with your head being hot of first.

  • @nicky196427 I agree with you...except for one thing: what would be the point of him going back to school, if he's just going to be shot and killed right afterward?

  • @batosai370 Everybody should go their graves as better humans, that's why.

  • @nicky196427 Shut up Bono you clag nut

  • It´s hilarious how you always get pricks bitching if a band does a carbon copy of a song yet those same pricks will bitch and moan if they change it up. Where´s the scream? Oh piss off you losers. And fuck off with the politics of U2. Just listen to the music you miserably cunts. Great cover in my opinion too bad people can just enjoy the music, and to those who hate U2 why do you insist on watching their videos?

  • Comment removed

  • @Hallucination Well if you want to fuck a woman you makes sure that everything that must come with a fucking is applied. Otherwise dont think of fucking. You are the loser. This are just people's comments. If you do a cover do it completely and thoroughly including the screaming. There are no politics with U2. They are trying to be something more than what they actually are. Bono do the Africans really get the money that you collect, I wonder???

  • @nicky196427 nicky19etc you are wrong, Hallucination is right.. U2 (as you already know) are total class, but different from the world class Who. If you were there you would be jumping around, if you were at a who concert you`d be doing the same. I was waiting for the key change, but it never came. So what! Cracking cover.

  • @Hallucination I think they ARE listening to the music. That's why everyone is so pissed. U2 sucks, the end.

  • @batosai370 and yet you spend your time watching their videos. You secretly love them and you know it cause only fucking losers spend time watching videos by bands they don't like. Which is it?

  • @Hallucination

I agree, but still think Bono should have learned the words and maybe they should have included the bridge... (which would have come in after the guitar solo) "I move myself and my family aside, if we happen to be left half alive" - as a piece of writing, it breathes a new life into the song and lyrically takes another angle on what the song is about. But U2 has always been a bit lazy about the exactitude of their covers.

  • @camcoop25 fair enough and to be honest maybe they just do simple versions because there is no point in trying to do them exactly the same way. 99/100 a cover song won't be as good as the originla so why not just make it a simple tribute. I don't know. I just laugh at all the people who have thier days ruined by a band doing a cover song especially if the band doing it is one they don't like yet still took the time to watch the video anyways haha.

  • @Hallucination

Yes, torturing one's self with a video one doesn't like like is useful in nurturing petty hatreds and misplaced faith.

  • @Hallucination I actually like that this is out there because the world will see what a REAL guitarist and real bass player and real drummer sound like when they compare this CRAP to THE REAL THING! The bitch is because if Edge can't strum it or he doesn't have a fancy pedal to make it sound pretty he can't play it. Listen to the real thing and maybe you'll get it! The is one time ITS NOT BETTER THAN THE REAL THING! LOL

  • @pipperoooo Fuck are you stupid. I have heard the real thing and at no point did I say this was better. I simply pointed out that I think people like yourself are pathetic losers for getting so bent out of shape over it because it doesn't sound exactly like the original. It's a great cover and you're a flat out fucking lier if you say you wouldn't love it had you been there.

  • @Hallucination Oh my goodness !! What an amazing comment !! I couldn't agree with you more bro !!

    Keep rockin' on !!

  • @Hallucination

OK, so we are all pricks bitching - even if we admit U2 is a good band. The point is if you are covering a band that is BETTER, you don't fuck it up by changing the lyrics. U2 did the Rolling Stones justice on "Gimme Shelter" at the R&R

Hall of Fame concert by sticking to the script, and the Stones are easy to cover. U2 love and owe a lot to The Who - this is not their best effort I am sure. There is a reason The Who do not cover U2 - they do occasionally cover The Stones.

  • Fukin great cover

  • bass is severely lacking...

  • @profjohnfrinks yes,but the rhythm section is cohese and the guitar is powerful, they nailed it.i don't like bono's performance, too thin.

  • @Mindcrime80 agree on bono

  • bono's voice doesn't fit this song... at all

  • Poor cover. Bono and the boys need to pay their taxes like the rest of us have to before they gain any respect from me.

  • Fuck off Bono and U2. Pay your taxes like the rest of us have to. Twats

  • not a U2 fan but this is a fuckin killer cover

  • Love U2 love The Who, Love the song, it's not a patch on the original for me, but I bet Edge had a flipping great time pretending he was Pete Townshend for a few minutes!

  • Okay everyone, concerning the "butchered" lyrics of the song, it was probably to avoid copyright infringement, it's most likely that U2 doesn't have the rights to play "Won't Get Fooled Again" and so they don't get sued they changed the words. Regarding the lack of scream, Bono isn't a screamer. I don't think that in any of his songs that I've heard he ever screams, he just sustains notes; so in this case I'm glad he didn't do the scream, because frankly no one can compare to Roger on it.

  • They play a good cover, but I am not a Bono fan. Very, very over rated.

  • i understand the point of adding one's own flavor to a cover...but why on earth would Bono butcher the lyrics? Oh, wait, I know, he's insane and greedy

  • I mean the scream

  • It is said that U2 is the most over rated over priced band ever. Bono should not be screwing with The WHO's number. The Who do it the best. Like "krullpalaxen" said this sounds like a lullaby. Bono, you have to be man enough like Moon and Townsend to do this. And where is the SCREM.

  • useless cover! wtf is going on behind the drums!?? nobody plays this song better than Kieth Moon!! not just the drums! everything is wrong in this cover, the singing sounds like some kind of a lullaby, and if gonna play this song u gotta move man! these guys just stand there! one reason why i dont like U2, they destroy masterpieces!

  • Bono and Adam Clayton are the one's who screw this up. I love U2 as long as they don't try cover songs by better bands - WTF is Bono doing even trying to ad lib lines and change the lyrics of such a masterpiece? And you can't even hear Clayton's bass. Mullen and The Edge are holding their own though.

  • @roberhau hahaha the bass is loud and clear. You deaf or something or just like to complain?

  • bono said that u2 were "heirs to the who"

    this vid proved him wrong

i liked edges guitar work though

  • Yikes...that makes ma day....

  • haha listen to this...then the original...just doesnt cut it lol..bono's vocals completely lack the emotion roger's does..and listen to those drums here..hahaa this is keith's song lol..RIP

  • U sucks

  • Bono Looks ripped, or on something lmao!

  • acho que esse cover não foi planejado, tá faltando parte da música, o bono esquece umas parte da letra...

mas o edge tá legal, é claro que não tão tocando essa música com o gás mesmo que ela dá, é uma pena...

  • No matter how big you are there is only one group to do this song.

  • ive seen both the who and u2 live... and im only 17 years old!!!!

thought this was weird without the synth (i think its quite important in this song) ....

still a verry good cover though

  • no offense. They failed epic

  • These guys can't play anything good since Pop, not even a rock classic.

  • If you seriously came here to find something better than the original then you came to the wrong place. Like every band on earth, The Who made songs that fit The Who best, U2 makes songs that fit U2 best. If The Who would try doing a U2 cover, the results would be just as "terrible".

Both bands are excellent at their own music, usually not very good at other's music.

  • @JoRu94 Not so sure. Listen to The Who's covers of Summertime Blues, Shakin All Over, and Young Man's Blues.

  • @jennincl Good covers, but my point still stands. When doing a cover of a song made for other bands/people you should never expect something better than the original. U2 is not a cover band, so the only fair way to judge the band is by listening to U2's own material.

  • Jesus Christ, waht a shit. Tokio Hotel is much better!

  • music sounds great..especially edge...but bono killed it

  • What lead me to this song was a comment on Hilary Duff's song "My Generation" also by The Who. It was a good re-make, so I thought I'd try this. Its absolutely Terrible! I wish I had't heard this.

  • Comment removed

  • @wannarockdahouse absolutely, though both are better sung by The Who. HilarDuff's My generation is good, but this is just terrible, like Kidz Bop.

  • @pirakafreak24 Dude, seriously, you REALLY like The Who? At Least U2 don't kill the power of the song! Hillary's version is HORRIBLE, she made a POP/DISNEY version of My Generation!!. And for god's sake, did you realize she changed one of the most famous phrases of the music? She said "I hope I DON'T die before I get old" I really can't see how hillary's version is better than this video. I really can't

  • @wannarockdahouse Dude, seriously, you REALLY don't like The Who? Have you ever seen CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, or CSI: New York. All of their theme songs are by The Who. If you don't mind me saying (which I'm sure you'll mind after I say it anyway), you're being a bit of a jerk. I believe that people can have their oppinion, and I do, but when people start to target their oppinions, that's just SICK and Wrong, and I'm not okay with that, and you should think before you post.

  • @pirakafreak24 Wait, you are taking me wrong, maybe I haven't expressed rigth, cause english is not my languaje. I'll try again. My point is: You tihink, this cover Of the Who, isnt's good. It's ok to think that. BUT, you algo said Hillary Duff's cover of my generation is a BETTER cover of a who's song. I'm saying: A real fan of THE WHO, would be really pissed of, with a pop artist like her, killing such a good song. She transformed 60's rock, into cheap disney pop.

  • @pirakafreak24 She said "I hope i DONT die before i get old", I mean, she killed the song in every aspect. I'm a fan of the Who, and i think: "At least, U2 kept the rock thing on his cover". I'm just saying, it is incompatible to: Like the who, and think hillary did a good cover. Dont take me wrong, i LOVE the who.

  • @wannarockdahouse Look dud, can't you just let it go. I can have my oppinion, and you can have yours. End of story.
