Um? were do you end up getting that from? i'll accept that the show wasn't built on a story so we shouldn't have expected a big bang of ending. it was a good ending because it stays with you, and there are enough references to the idea that he could have been clipped from over his right shoulder, including the car parking incident and references to bobby kennedy, and the flashback scene with bobby.
he died because at the end, it went black and waited for a while and then the credits rolled, if he didnt die the credits wouldve rolled right after it cut to black. he got whacked.
the ENDING all made sense to me. All the talk about not hearing or feeling it when you get "wacked". Tony was obviously murdered at the end. he looks up to a barrel and gets his fuckin nugget blown off. it all makes sense. Just like Tone and Bobby were discussing out at the lake....
the booming was only edited in by viewers wanting a reaction, in the official series it cuts to black silence with no music...and I'm ALL FOR a Sopranos movie or a continuation , I still think the young days of Junior and Johnny, juxtaposed with new days of Tony , Sil, Paulie were still alive, could be a great idea...if enough fans cheer em on and get over the other "ending" it could happen!

Dominic Chianese portrayed Junior superbly throughout the entire drama. He is one of the most addictive personalities - a very funny character - and the ferocity of such a restricted, aged figure was always compelling. I personally think The Sopranos should lay to rest with that famous and mind-altering 'smash-cut' ending. It made me cry; but not because I was seeking the demise of Tony (despite occasions when I despised him, e.g. behaviour post-Chris). I cried because...IT FINISHED!

not really, because there have been shows that ended with getting a movie to follow up until many years later, remember it took them over 2 years exactly between season 5 and season 6, so if it took the writers 2 years to come up with the last season, how long do you think it will take them to come up with a whole movie? even though i hated the ending, now thinking about it i realise that they really didn't have to spell it out for the audience. just use your imagination or real life situations. anyone that knows anything about the mob should know that there are really only two things that happens to big time mob bosses in real liffe. they are either killed or turn state evidence. judging by tony's personality, he wouldn't have turned state evidence. so it is pretty safe to conclude that he was killed @ the end.
meaning you agree to testify against your associates in exchange for immunity. consequently, you basically become evidence for the state. it is an expression used by the feds.
he wasn't killed, if he was they would have shown it, why would he have been killed? phil was dead and tony made the truce with new york, we were made to believe that those guys in the diner were gonna kill him but it would have made no sense cos who would have ordered him to be killed, plus carlo was gonna turn state evidence so tony probably got prosecuted

It was a cut on the ending 'cos the whole series was about TONY (like by his eyes) and because of this when he was killed (he WAS) after the moment of his death there was not any view or voice should/could be shown.

there is too much money to be made not to make a movie... look at the numbers the sex and the city movie made.. I think if they made a movie, it would be cool if it was a prequel.. if they told the story of how tony and jackie along with silvio all came up ... like a 80's style movie.. We all know the story of how tony's dad died and tony b. getting sent to prison, but that's still a story I want to see on the screen.. Don't you??

Why does it have to be all about money? The sotry is what's important, not money. I'm sure all of the cast and David Chase have plenty of it anyway but that's not the point, why risk making a movie that's not gonna be any good? OK so you're sayin they should do a movie about the past? Well a Soprano's film without Gandolfini just wouldnt be the Sopranos'

not really, because there have been shows that ended with getting a movie to follow up until many years later, remember it took them over 2 years exactly between season 5 and season 6, so if it took the writers 2 years to come up with the last season, how long do you think it will take them to come up with a whole movie? I dont think its done...just my opinion :)

mm...unless they got the same actors who played Tony's mother and father in the series flashbacks, I don't think it would feel like "The Sopranos: ..." though

and maybe dip into when Chris's father was alive and got whacked etc, and maybe move into Tony's schooldays and meeting Carmella

Of course he's dead. I think the guy going into the bathroom in the Member's Only jacket does it as a homage to The Godfather. Possibly the two black dudes that come in could be seeking revenge for the guy Tony killed in the failed whacking.

even though i hated the ending, now thinking about it i realise that they really didn't have to spell it out for the audience. just use your imagination or real life situations. anyone that knows anything about the mob should know that there are really only two things that happens to big time mob bosses in real liffe. they are either killed or turn state evidence. judging by tony's personality, he wouldn't have turned state evidence. so it is pretty safe to conclude that he was killed @ the end.

he wasn't killed, if he was they would have shown it, why would he have been killed? phil was dead and tony made the truce with new york, we were made to believe that those guys in the diner were gonna kill him but it would have made no sense cos who would have ordered him to be killed, plus carlo was gonna turn state evidence so tony probably got prosecuted

I agree. Tony would have been a lot more on edge and aware of the guys in the diner (especially the guy moving into the washroom) instead of being switched off to any threats. Also not much chance of a return series or movie if T 'aint around.

they left it open like that because they wanted the viewers to think what they want to think.. but i think he dies, because in that episode he goes to visit everyone, he vists sil in the hospital, janice and even uncle jr. the man who shot him, as if it were the last time

See that's the thing. People say "If he died, they would've shown it". David wouldn't show to leave suspense, like the guy said. There are definetly people who want to kill Tony. I can't say alot, because it's ALOT and i have small space, but you should check out "Sopranos finale explained pt. 1 and 2" Everything is explained and shows alot...

It was a cut on the ending 'cos the whole series was about TONY (like by his eyes) and because of this when he was killed (he WAS) after the moment of his death there was not any view or voice should/could be shown.
