Motley Crue and Quiet Riot were the new bands. A lot of people didn't know much about them. I think Quiet Riot was a replacement for Joe Walsh who moved from the Metal Day to the Rock Day. The Crue were great, but I think if one band really stole the day it was the Scorpians, they were second to last right before Van Halen (who were so drunk it was rediculous).

Word has it that after the show Tommy was in tears, begging for this video to be destroyed before anybody could watch it because they screwed up so much.

They smoke on bastard. matter of fact for years you hear how they hated their performance and blocked it for that 1983 showtime special. that i have on vhs. i love all their US festival performance so i dont get that ? saw them 6 weeks before this opening for kiss in san francisco. epic era for this band. 1981-1984.

it was pretty awesome! The scorpions pretty much blew everyone away,van halen sucked,roth was too drunk to sing so we left half way thru their set.

@spacinjayson Well there it is rt there, my exact memories of the greatest of days of my young, 23, life at the time. The Scorps were so tight they coulda been lip sinking, I thought Triumph was also just excellent, unfortunetlyt was one of Jakie Lees 1st gigs w/ Ozzy and I remember the guitar didnt even come through at 1st and was spotty 4 their whole set and yes, Van Halen was an absolute anticlimax after a long hard day in the sun we waited like an hr 4 them 2 suck, headed out 3 songs in !!

I too was noticing the absence of tattoos. Nobody in the audience has tattoos either. Quite interesting.

Also -- compare the shoes they are wearing in this concert to the ones they wear in Carnival of Sins. Both high platform shoes, but I think they look much better in Carnival of Sins.
