  • good choice, it was my grandmothers family who were the Sinclairs and made the bagpipes. They had a shop in Leith Edinburgh.

  • Very nice recording..... what did you use to record the sound......?

Also LOVE the mason's apron..good job!

  • what type of drone reeds do you use? sounding great

  • Hi Sean,

Can you comment on how/why you chose Sinclair bagpipes over other makers? I am about to purchase my first set of pipes and am browsing through YouTube to get a listen to the various manufacturer's sounds to whittle down my choices, then I need to consider as well. But first things first, I've gotta like the sound and you definitely sound great.

  • @GPBAMB Well I actually didn't pick out these pipes, they were a present from my father. He picked them out for me by the recommendation of an old gentleman, Angus MacDonald, who ran a bagpipe shop nearby where I used to live. There are a decent amount of good pipe makers out there, but I guess I would have to recommend these for the same reason Mr MacDonald did: they are very well crafted bagpipes handmade in Edinburgh. They're made of the finest materials and they have a very fine, sweet tone.

  • Sean, this is nothing short of awesome! When I grow up I wanna play pipes like you!!

  • Hey Sean!

I'm not really into bagpipes but I really love this piece. And getting someone who doesn't really enjoy bagpipes to like it is a big deal in my opinion :)

  • you are great

  • V Good! The pipes are huge! you must really struggling to reach the top of the chanter and fit your left arm round the bag, which explains why the chanter is pulled right towards you, get the same make of pipes, but a size smaller, with a medium or small bag, and you wont have to worry about it, excellent playing!

  • There are four tunes in this medley:

    "Kerry Dance"

    "Walk the Floor"

"Gravel Walk" (I'm pretty sure that's what it's called)

    "Mason's Apron"

    FUCK YAH!

  • you are fantastic, i have been playing 2.5 years and no where near you . well done . from australia

  • Thanks man!

  • WOW!!! I just started lessons about 2 1/2 years ago, just got on my pipes 2 days ago! I can only hope to one day be this good!!! great job, Ive watched MANY videos on here, and this is the first one i have commented on!!!!! awsome!

  • Thanks! I appreciate it. Anyone can be as good as me or better. It just takes a lot of practice. And stubborness. Good luck man.

  • For having fingers like this after only three years is amazing.

You must be very dedicated to practice. Do you compete?

  • Thanks man. Well, I used to practice about 4 hours a day. I've always wanted to compete, but I've never found the time to do so. But I do sorta play in a Grade 2 band called Kenmure. I say "sorta" 'cause I haven't gone to a practice in months, but that's because my parents don't feel like driving me an hour and a half every sunday morning. Once I get my license though, I'll be more than just "sorta" in Kenmure.

  • Best of luck! I think you have a very bright future in piping.

  • hiow long you been playing, m starting lessons in 2 weeks. And what do you think of Mccollum pipes?

  • I've been playing about 3 years. One of these days I'm gonna make another video 'cause I've come along way in bagpiping since I made this one.

Awesome man! Goodluck with the lessons.

McCollum Pipes...I'm not exactly sure. Bagpipe brands have such similar names that it can get kinda confusing. I thought you said McCallum pipes at first. I have a McCallum chanter which is pretty nice. I think my bagpipe instructer has a McCollum chanter if I'm not mistaken, so it's probably good.

  • From a new piper...Thank you for the wonderful inspiration!!!

  • No problem man. Glad you enjoyed it. Good luck with the bagpiping.

  • first tune the kerry dance

  • this is fricken badass

  • Can anyone name those tunes please?

  • I'm not quite sure what they're all called 'cause all save one of them I learned by ear. The second tune is called Walking the Floor and the fourth tune is called Mason's Apron.

  • man that was bloody amazing, all the best to you

  • Thanks! And the same to you.

  • your wellcome i wish i could play like that.

  • that was cool thanks for shareing
