  • Im A Soldier in the Salvation Army of Philadelphia. we travel all over the city and help families with bills, food, clothes, etc. when ever we go out, we sing this song and people look out their doors and sing, clap, and dance with us. this means a lot to me as a Jr. Pastor and Preachers Grandchild <3

  • THE CORRECT TITLE IS CALLED ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS THIS 78 WAS ORIGINALLY ISSUED AS S-159 BY THE STATES RECORD COMPANY.

  • Notice how these Ladies are dressed. Nothing to draw attentiion away from the God they are singing about. This the kind of music that James Cleveland came up on. My Lord, this takes me back!!!! I am 65 and this reminds me of the hot little church on Sunday Morning when my grandmother would

  • Inez stole this song lol.

evry time you hear this song, Inez Andrews sings it.

  • Johneron Davis-soprano

    Albertina Walker-mezzo

    Dot Norwood-alto

    Imogene Green

  • Who is in the picture?

  • In my childhood, on Women's Day, the women would do their grand march during the offering and sing this song...this song by these olden sisters cause for reflection.

  • Amazing, Praise the LORD..!

  • You certainly come up with incredible artists. Bless you.

  • God Bless You!

  • Uh......no. Inez is not on this recording. Ms. Green "took it home."

  • Yes she did

  • I'm enjoying Dorothy Norwood in the background! Adore Imogene Green's voice and vocal mannerisms--so passionate, so genuine.

  • I'm glad you're enjoying this! Nothing like it and never will be!!!

  • Thank you OlSkoolSaint

  • You're welcome!

  • this is a seven - day addventis song but faster they sing alot of there songs

  • This Intro was off Da Hook!!

And That Imogene Green Know she was singing you could tell she was gonna blow when She first sung her note LoL And that ending with the Organ 5 stars!!!

  • I Would absolutely love to hear Inez Andrews'version of this recording with the Caravans.Imogene greene has not been given credit for the recording as far as I know.Speaking of Imogene,She is one of the unsung heroes of gospel music. She's made appearances on Caravan's,Davis Sister's,The Gospel Chimes and James Cleveland with The Gospel-Allstars recordings. She like unto others did not receive her fair share of recognition in her lifetime. Thanks!OlSkool Saint.

  • You're welcome!

  • I love that organ intro, lol.

  • Outstanding Post Olskool. Now everyone sees why Albertina Walker let Inez Andrews have her way on this song. lol. The harmonies are great, and honestly I forgot all about this song. 5 stars brother, for this is another forgotten classic.

  • That's Imogene leading this one, I think Inez is in the background on this one.

  • I know who is leading this song Jay. Imogene Greene didn't stay with the caravans forever and Inez Andrews led this song in a later recording, that is why i left that comment, because they sounded just alike. I'll look over you on this one, cause you probably didn't mean no harm. ::)

  • Great post yet again OlSkoolSaint! Keep postin!!!
