....in resolving my vibration issue, i came to the realisation that, by counter-weighting the lifting lever, i could ease the duty of the pin wheel as it re-sets the gravity arm, thus reduce the drive weight demand. fyi.
i've been noodling with my own lego arnfield for a couple of weeks now. for the most part, design and tuning has been surprisingy intuitive. the only issue with which i've been struggling has been the introduction of vibration to the pendulum, which, i suspect, comes extraneously from the impact of the scape wheel on the neutral arm, although i've been casting a suspicious eye at the lifting lever, too, as it drops against the gravity arm. so it goes....
The escapements are all weight driven, mainly by a line wound onto a pulley, occsionally by lego chain. No I don't use the same parts for each one, but I have a large pool of parts, having bought sets in the past. If you buy any one of the large sets available, it will probably have all the parts you need.
Totally groovy. I understand that this is the best of the gravity escapements.

Hi
Like the idea of using Lego parts even if only for experimentation. How do you power this escapement as I see no signs of a weight?
Do you use the same Lego Parts for each escapement or do you purchase new sets?
What Lego sets do you use and is there usually enough parts in one set or do you have to purchase extras?
Lots of questions I know but it's great seeing them run I particularly like you shorts set up.
