I actually do agree with some of your take on the argument. However, I do stand by the spirit of the notion he put forth: Basic human rights aside, no law or document should be immutable. New generations can engender new values (slavery being an obvious, if overused, example)... hence, the amendments. Our forefathers were men, not gods...

John the U.S. Constitution is serious, as well is the Constitutional Republic it designed.

I hate to bring this up, but the U.S. Constitution and the Framers slated Slavery, a thing the founders were against with the penning of the Declaration of Independence, in 1809. The 3/5ths clause points out their disagreement with Slavery. Those that attempt to use the 3/5ths Clause to say Slaves, (slaves were all colors at the time) were considered less of a person do not know the Const.

@TedMan55 if we had gotten what Obama had originally proposed for healthcare instead of the watered down version he had to pass because of the obstructionists fillibustering anything that didn't benefit their corporate doners (Pfizer and the like) then we would have accomplished something with that bill. Problem is, in order to come to a position of power in America, you have to first be bought and paid for by the corporate monopolies of the world. The system is broken, polarization wont help.
