I've first heard of DF from GH3, and eventually, I got around to expanding my mental library of DragonForce; I've now heard much of Sonic Firestorm and some of Valley of the Damned (the albums). I don't automatically declare DF my favorite band (I'm rather undecided on the matter of my favorite band), but I'm glad I've heard DF.
