I have an 02 GT, modded, custom wheels, new coils, cool air intake, Borla exhausts, predator chip, new pulleys etc. I think its still slow as hell, lots of torque but very sluggish. And it rates on the Dyno from a local high school at 291hp. My Eclipse GT actually seems faster because its much lighter. Also my stang isn't that fun to drive. Maybe i'm not as big of a fan as i though ha! Inside quality is shitty to, by comparison.

I own a 94 SHO MTX and a 90 Mustang GT. The GT has all of the Cobra mods, but there is no way my SHO could even come close. My SHO will beat some GT and most 6 cyl mustangs though.

I've killed several New Edge GT's in my 1990 SHO. The GT is good off the line but falls on it's face hard at about 90mph. I also used to have a 2003 GT 5-speed, so I know WTF I'm talking about. Now, with I/H/E and 3.73 gears, it's a different animal and unless the SHO is heavily modified, it WILL loose.

I own a 1990 SHO and have owned a 2003 Mustang GT. The SHO is a great car and so is the GT. You have to show respect to both. Can't compare once the GT's modded.

The mustang is a sick,you can see him lose ground every time he shifts. He needs a short throw and a pair of balls. Also the SHO was a fast car for its size. But a stock mustang is what it is I wouldnt put any money on it if you dont mod it your going to take alot of ass kicking the 4.6 is in a whole world of its own the 5.0 just had crazy power. All I can say if you dont know how to drive it you should not own it.

mustang has to be an auto, no wheelspin at 25 mph? Even at 40 if he cracks on it right with a 5spd the tires should break. It's either an auto or the mustang driver was worried about dropping the tranny slamming into gear at the start. Don't race if you're scared!

look i know shos are fast and all that but when i first got my mustang it was stock. with a k&N filter, modded air box high flow cats and exhaust i kept door to door with my buddy's sti with exhaust. I dont know whats wrong with that mustang, coil packs fail all the time so maybe it was that.

@StangGT5. Bad coil packs? If so, then the 'Service Engine Soon' light would have been on. I'm around Crown Vics all day every day (same engine as the GT). It is infinitely easier to service the coil packs on the GT than say a Gen3 SHO. He should fix his car.

I test drove a GT like this with 15K on the odometer. At higher RPMs, the GTs don't pull like the Gen1/2 SHOs. It's actually pretty interesting, but the time of the old SHOs has come and gone.

the mustang lose because the mustang driver does not know how to drive or its a automatic. the reason being is when they start you can tell the mustang is at a low rpm and the show is at a higher rpm. i have a 95 gt and 93 sho and my gt is faster and has more tq and is a convertible.. dont get me wrong the sho are quick but theat mustand should have smoked it ......

What a moronic statement...SHO's destroy Fox 5.0's and pre-2000 4.6L Mustangs with ease top end. They can even take out some of the earlier Cobras. Besides the fact that the "Taursus" made more horsepower anyway than the V8 Mustang while it was in production, realize that it's not a regular "Taursus"--it's an SHO....do some research.

P.S. The Mustang was clearly redlining its ass off to even keep up, and Junior is a sick driver (as emphasized by the sick 2-3 shift at 1:26)
