  • Moreover, Rogers statistic is very impressive that he has never retired, but that is just as much to do with clever scheduling than it is him being some superhuman, indeed I would argue he just withdraws from a tournament if he ever feels he's going to have a problem, especially if its just before a more important one, I feel other players would have this statistic too if they were to do the same, and use their brain.

  • I cannot stand how every single tennis video on youtube I come across has endless Roger fanboys all over it, yes he is probably the best player ever, but he is not tso far ahead of everyone else he has to be put on this pedelstool where he is towering over everyone else. Yes in this video he showed courage, but no more so then plenty of players do all the time, Murray has a condition where his kneecap never fused together properly and it has most likely given him constant pain always

  • @smithy262626 - If that had been Novak, Rafa or Murray in Roger's situation where he could barely move or hit a serve they would have retired straight away, especially Djokovic, who retires from almost anything, he even retired because he had a cold when playing against Roger in Monte Carlo in 2008, disgraceful, thankfully he's seemingly cut that out a little bit these days. Murray's knee pain isn't constant, it occasionally comes up now and again, doesn't seem to affect his movement at all.

  • @TJFederer15 I dont think for a second think he could barely move or hit a serve, he was still hitting the corners from what i can see of the last set, admittedly i didnt watch the match live so I dont have a full picture of how many first serves he made and how fast he was. But you cant play tennis at this level against a defensive player of Murrays calibre if you cant move. I agree completely about Djokovic, but I dont believe that any other player would have retired straight away as you claim

  • @TJFederer15 Anyway my point is more that Roger is given a 'superhuman' status over many others which I dont feel is fully justified, however you are clearly a Federer fan and im not so much so we are never going to agree. Obviously I still have a lot of respect for Federer and i am not trying to belittle his achievements

  • @smithy262626 - i was exaggerating a little when i say he could barely move, but i have never seen Roger in seemingly so much pain, and he never usually shows anything even when he has an injury, which shows this must have been bad, he has an amazing knack of relaxing and playing well when he is not 100%, for example when he picked up an ankle injury at the end of 2005 and was pretty far from 100% yet destroyed Gaudio 6-0 6-0. Roger's achievements are 'inhuman', he deserves everything he gets.

  • This match really showed the inner toughness of Roger, depsite losing he put up and unbelievable fight and would not give in until the last ball, that game at 5-4 in the 3rd just summed it all up, what a fighter, which he isn't given enough credit for because it just looks so easy and natural to him every time he plays, but this match showed it all.People say Rafa is the biggest fighter trying for every ball, but its not like he's never retired in his life before, Roger has never retired, amazing

  • best point of all time from 3:03 to 3:53 ?

  • In that first point of the vid you can see the pain in his face back pain in tennis is horrid i suffer from it and its just aweful

  • 3min pardon

  • Murray is Federer's bitch!

  • @hattrickster33 then why does murray lead 8-6 in their head to heads

  • @littlebendixon In the matches that really matter to Murray (both their matches in the slams and the WTF's) Federer won because he's stronger mentally. That's one of the reasons Murray hasn't won a GS yet.

  • Roger has never retired from a match! NEVER!! He is amazing, what an inspiration!!

  • Roger is the slump after the pneumonia and MONO.It is clear. at the time of this match. Roger takes the medical time-out of a back and the waist. chronic injury Back Waist. And, foot

  • @federerbestclass

This was almost a year after he had mono..

  • 5:40 primera vez que veo que asisten a Federer.

  • @Rafathaman94 Yeah I suppose so

  • Fuck off about 'Federer had an injury' ...thats the constant excuse when he doesnt win. He got to the Quarters in Wimbledon and he said he feels fine then when he gets ousted by Berdych he starts to complain about injury. Murray won, simples.

  • 3:03 - That is a proper tennis point, variation, movement, power, placement, touch and talent. For me nadals A game is amazing, but I still find him one dimensional, watching these two play like that, aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhwwwwwwwww (thats ment to be a homer dreul:))

  • Roger is a master of shot combination. However, there is a man who can return any kind of shot who calls Rafa Nadal. These two guys are 100% sure pushing tennis up to a new level~

  • 43 million bucks folks!!! well more now....lol

  • that forehand at 0:30 is clearly out

  • @ojmuller66 Hum...no.

  • Federer was having back problems and he still played amazing tennis! Just goes to show what a great player he is. Murray played well too though.

  • murray payed for that match this year, the scot has to put things straight - either he wants to win with federer stupid matches on masters level or go for the trophies

  • Yes you are right, Murray did see having the win over Federer as more important. But this year since Andy still has a winning h2h over Federer its more important he puts his name on a slam. Now its 2010, and its all open once again. Will make it great tennis thats for sure.

  • Never seen Roger fighting this way before, strugglin' with his back and a very brilliant Murray... RF was HEROIC... too bad he lost this match :(

  • It was a very good match, and you can only win who is in front of you. But I feel that when these two are on court Federer is on edge, Murray battles for everything. They have such a great match up in their game styles. Makes it very exciting to watch.

  • how?

  • how come i hear of all these pro tennis players getting mono?

  • roger mononucleosis

and back injury ... got him a

    very bad year

but now hes free of those thing

who made him lose some matches

that without them roger definitely would

    win roger is ready

master and the usopen are for him

    this year !!!

  • this is the first time ive seen this match, fuck me, amazing! this could well be the wimbledon final, heres hoping!

  • BRILLIANT

  • Nah the south african/new zealander commentator is really poor at his job. He throws around unintelligent phrases "and thats why they pay him the big bucks folks" like we dont already know how skilled these players are. Annoys the shit out of me.

  • this is propably the best commentator in tennis, i don't know anybody else who knows that much about tennis!

  • love the commentary,

  • whats the problem about that? If he is in pain, If the match is tough and going to a third set, If there is a physio available and If he is allowed to do so, why not call for help?

  • You going to say the same about Nadal everytime he calls a physio to click is knee back in or massage his leg?

  • Lol? He was injured for months after this match!

  • he did he fought to the end mate unlike most players like a djokovic

  • Roger I take my hat off to you for playing while in pain, it would have been easier to have walked away. This game is just inspiring and I hope all the young tennis wannabe's all see this and take inspiration from it. These two are just brilliant, Andy must think Roger is the best sparring partner ever. I could watch these two play for hours. Roll on 2009.

  • Yes Andy knew that too, so I am sure Roger will get fitter over the next few weeks and he will be a different player come 2009, I cant wait.

  • what a match! Probably one of the best three sets matches of the year! Credit to roger that he always fights back, although he was injured.

  • agreed sum of the best tennis ive sin this year in 3 set matches probz the second best after rafa n djoko in hamburg

  • yeah I thought this match between djokovic and nadal was the best 3 setter in 08. But I think there is no doubt which was the best 5 setter. :)
