  • My mother has Abney Park on her Ipod :'}

  • am I the only one confused about how they can be "under the radar"? the radar wasn't evented until the 1920s..unless in this alternate universe it was invented earlier? O. o

  • @littlenannybot it only werent possible if u just reffer to the 19th centuary but much steampunk scenarios are based on post apocliptic timelines

  • @littlenannybot

Steam Punk time eras are generally post-apocalyptic, which means that they would have had to create their vehicles or whatever from broken machines like cars, and seeing as it's post-apocalyptic there wouldn't have been much electricity so they would need to run things on steam or otherwise, but things like radar could be still used... you know?

  • @MrPokefan2011 not all, many are also parallel universes.

  • @littlenannybot figure of speech.

  • I anyone here interested in constructing an actual airship and then joining the crew?

  • The lyrics in this song are so powerfull, full of emanation and energy. Perfect. <3 I have never particularly loved steampunk, but I like some elements in it. And if those elements can be fused into this kind of music, I might as well start to learn more about steampunk in general.

  • @Haikulapsi I think these are the pirates that took down the skyship in The Cog is Dead's "A letter to Michelle"...

  • Such Inspiring Music....

  • if you think about abney park too much, it seems stupid, but if you just listen, it is the greatest musice in the universe

  • Indeed, CrowSkeleton! I agree fully! All I need now is my toolkit, the local junkyard, and some time.

  • Just saw them live at Dragon*con, AWESOME BAND!

  • @theWhiteLion I was there as well, they are SO much better live, and that is saying something. When they played Wanderlust, his voice took my breath away, no homo.

  • my mom says i have to buy things i brake.... how much does the Replay button cost?

  • i find myself searching for pocket watches for sale...

  • @comshield Me too!

  • @comshield lol, me too, actually, I found one at Micheals for $8, I cant wait to get it, also I got one a bargin center for $5

  • @comshield

I feel I'm slightly ahead of the curve. I've had a pocket watch since the 1970's... Still love em'

  • A little late to the fray I apologise,

    but@Mrdonut,

The values and ideals of steampunk are EXACTLY the kind of thing this world needs, instead of the trash that is churned out in the pursuit of the green god,

I'm not going to simply shout you down though, I'm going to advise you to google steampunk, and then look through your filmwatching history, you may have seen more steampunk than you realise :)

Scientia est lux lucis my friend,

  • @Nosoulnomore totally true. every since getting into steampunk i've looked back and realized i've watch a lot of stempun kinspired movies and locate the elements in new movies as well

  • @MrDonut9 ok... so u don't know what steampunk is... but ur calling it gay... that's just proving ur stupidity. Next time u plan to insult someone and their lifestyle and/or likes, try doing a little research first so u don't look like an idiot.

  • Actually I don't know what steampunk is so sorry for trolling but I think I'll take a pass

  • @MrDonut9 Why you so mad bro?

  • Abney Park, FTW.

  • @MrDonut9 A day to remember is far from screamo........

It's still a good band though

  • @MrDonut9 No. Steampunk is not fucking gay, Steampunk is a lifestyle. If you can't respect that, then im going to have my crew set course to your location, swords sharpened, and ready to sin. As far as you know, we are building steam.

  • @MrDonut9 way to troll by pushing your music on all of us....fuck you Mr. Troll we like our music go listen to yours in your little corner.

  • @MrDonut9 But that's like listening to dying monkeys. Abney Park is way better, and actually has a meaning.*confused* I mean, I like hard metal and all but...seriously. Don't diss a lifestyle you don't give a chance.

  • Upon hearing this band, I decided to be a Steampunk. <3

  • This band has so much inspiration in my writing :)

  • Wow, I just cought onto these guys, even this type of music five minutes ago. I'm a sequential artist learning steampunk style manga, and while youtubing steampunk this was suggested. It's great inspiration.

  • MANDOLIN IS FUCKIN' METAL

  • I was about a total of seven feet away from Captain Robert at the World Steam Expo, and about fainted. I also had a rough time not imagining myself as his microphone stand.

  • @MascheraDiMusica He was at the World Steam Expo!? HOW DID I MISS HIM!??? Fuuuu I go every year whyyyyyy. *sits facing boiler of ship* damnit....

  • i like the music..but i just dont like the singer..:/

  • X3 epic...

  • I wished Captain Roberts singing voice would stop giving me awkward erections O_O

  • @kricharsdson Would you rather he stop giving them, or they stop being awkward?

  • @gufbrindleback thats easy i wish they would stop being so awkward

  • Is it 'propellers in the dark' or 'propellers in the dawn'?

  • @RedMage360 porpellers in the dawn :)

  • @ShadowDwellerXXX I so understand the urge to fire dance....your bonfire or mine? lol

  • I love Captain Robert's voice. They aren't meant to be a "precise" band so I enjoy the roughness of his voice, it suites their style. I mean, I wouldn't expect an airship pirate to sing like an opera singer or anything...

  • @chokedsmurf I can't help but think he sounds like the Pokemon Lucario. I love Robert (and Lucario) though. hahaha

  • Alle the copyrighted metal materials belong to Abney Park Team ;) My metals pedals too ;D

  • These songs remind me of Balither from final fantasy 12 lolz,

  • i saw them live and got a huge gear signed by the band. it is now on my wardrobe.

  • this makes me wanna dance around a fire at night >:D

  • The guns n' roses lead singer didn't have a good voice either, it was actually kind of obnoxious, but you know what? their music is still pretty good.

  • A couple nights ago I had the house to myself, so I put this album on a playlist and spent the entire night dancing do it. It was the most fun I've had in months. <3

  • I like. My ears are happy

  • dawnriku, I don't think that your mommy praising your singing voice really counts as all the laurels you claim to have been heaped upon your honored brow. If you don't like it, don't criticize, just go back to justin beiber or lady gaga or whatever else floats your boat (or airship)

  • Steampunk baby!!!

  • I love his voice. It's so hypnotic.

  • Comment removed

  • @HunterLionheart He had pneumonia when he did this....chill.

  • @HunterLionheart TROLL TROLL IN THE DUNGEON!

he is doing a "stage whisper". he is trying to make it sound like they are "sneeking" up.

and anyway this is an actual recorded band.. so instead of being an armchair quarterback (i woulda caut tha there footballs.) go out and actually try to sing.

<- coming from a singer so i know what the hell i am talking about.

  • @HunterLionheart In a technical aspect, no, he doesn't have a great voice. But it does work for a lot of people. yes, you have balls, and your opinion counts for whatever expertise you hold, but it is not the end all for arguments. Definitely not a troll.

  • @HunterLionheart You're probably one of those pop singers, aren't you? Look, if it's annoying, then listen to something you like. The fact that you have to point out to people that you don't like it makes you a troll whatever your intent was from the very start. Aaand... even if you do criticize someone in all of your audacity it's not going to change Captain's voice, now is it? So essentilally all you've done is pissed people off and tried to get away with it as a "passing comment".

  • @Vortex289 Meh, trolls be trolling. I'd ignore comments like that. Only the ignorant, stupid, or both seek to cause arguments for no reason. Well, that and trolls. Besides, regardless of what one says about his voice, if you still enjoy the music then whatever. I for one agree that his voice isn't the most perfectly-awesome-amazing-kickass voice i've ever heard, but I still enjoy the exceptional music. Opinions are just that, opinions.

  • @AnonomysPerson Well said!

  • @AQWThatWeirdNoob Thank you sir ( or ma'am, hard to tell over the internet).

  • @AnonomysPerson I am a guy. And no problem. :P

  • @dawnriku Coming from a singer, his voice isn't that great. He's got a great voice for the atmosphere they need, but from that, there's little to be said for it.

  • WHAT a SEXY voice!

  • This song goes better with each glass of whisky I drink while listening.. can't get enough of both

  • Dear lord, I can't get enough of this song...

  • Steampunk is absoloutely about teaching oneself to tinker, taking technology back - "punking" it - from the cybernetic companies and so on. Modern man is disconnected and afraid of his machines, steampunk recalls when every inventor for themselves opened endless possibilities and even the practical could be a work of craft.

Keep the colonial aesthetics, I'm turning dead gadgets and toasters into clockwork birds.

  • ah. well. at least one person saw you raid that town.

  • It is about an aesthetic, not actually functionality. I use steam in the real world to make electricity, and let me tell you, making functional steam devices is hard, and dangerous. Utility scale operations run at over 2000 psi, which is akin to bomb pressures, don't feel bad if it is smoke and mirrors. It is about having fun, not reinventing the wheel.

  • Poor? Need teaching? You have the INTERNET! Cripes and cogs! They have 2nd hand stores by you? Or junk shops... I mean 'Antique boutiques' ( dodging wife's impressive glower)? A little paint, a little creativeness and the utter willingness to gut a two dollar clock to make those kick ass optics is all you need. Find a 'distressed' jewelry box, use the 'fancy french word for things stuck on to other things', put all that and some cool cogs from an old music box on a leather headstrap

  • I been into steampunk for 2½ year so quite a newbie, though I wish there were stuff to find around here shops ect, and I wish someone would teach me to tinker with steampunk things, that would be really awesome!

  • Now I am going to check out the wrong side

  • i love everything about the steampunk aesthetic and culture... and this is a helluva awesome soundtrack to set it to :D Awesome!!!

  • Who could possibly dislike this? Ho-hum. Best to drown him out in likes.

  • @wrylie188 East-India Trading Co. member? :D

  • @wrylie188 ^_^ All we need is neck and noose, then we'll watch his wriggly shoes... Just kidding. ;)

  • i really like this i did not know that there was so much on steampunk im new to it all i looked it up cuse pepole were dressing up at acen and i found this and other stuff i have fell in love with steampunk now. kick ass song

  • @threemoonsmike

I concur. I've been interested in steampunk for a little over a year now, and I must say it's one of the best things I've ever been involed in.

I've yet to actually make any props or anything, but that's mostly due to financial problems, combined with lack of useful resources at home.

  • @TwystofFayte That is the thing stopping me.

I have been into steampunk for years (somewhere over 5) but do not have a shop and am poor.

  • @ArisztidZ For the clothing, second hand shops carry white frilly shirts. You can actually make a corset under 30 dollars using the same trick I did. Use duck canvis instead of corset coutil, and buy watchspring boning in a big bunch and simply cut it yourself and dip the ends in latex. (if you would be more of a busitar type of corset person, you can get away with something even cheeper, plastic boning)

  • @TwystofFayte Try scouring second hand shops.

  • yeah gypsy jazz! eminds me a bit of the Killer roo song from the mighty boosh

  • I really strongly wish for them to do all the music to an awsome RPG game.

  • @OmegaViper Wow, that's creepy. I actually designed the skeleton to an mmorpg listening to Abney Park, obviously i wouldn't know how to make the thing, but still... SPOOKY.

  • @OmegaViper Google AIR: Steampunk Aerial RPG

It's still in development but it looks like it will be awesome in the distant future when it's finished.

  • You know how cool it be if they did cgi music vids? Be so cool like this one could be them raiding a airship

  • yea, this is a really good song, (fact, so is all of aether shanties), but if u like this, you should check out the wrong side

  • steampunk

  • I think we have found our company theme song.

  • Pegajosa la letra y la tonada

  • im sorry i like the song

  • its ok, wht kind of music does abney park play anyways?

  • @MikeWoohoo Steampunk.

  • @MikeWoohoo steampunk

  • @MikeWoohoo Mostly steampunk, but sometimes they have traces of darkwave, dance and punk. Really depends when it's from cause they've changed some. Compare this song to The Root of All Evil, this is much more piratey :)
