Nice. I really like this cam. I was about ready to buy the HV30 a couple days ago and then saw a review of this camera. I am probably going to buy this one because the picture looks better. I think I'm probably going to wait for the price to fall a bit before buying one, though, since I think 1500 bucks is too much. But that works out great because, in the meantime, I can focus on buying a powerful enough pc to do film on while I am waiting for the price to fall a bit.
I just bought the Lumix DMC-ZS3, which has extraordinary new features for a P&S. However once I started using it, I kept thinking "wish it had an external mic jack...wish I could manual focus...wish it had depth of field isolation...wish it had a viewfinder cause all I can see is my own reflection.." I read a review of the GH1 in Pogue's NYT column. This is THAT camera, a smaller "35mm" size with all the stuff I want, cept for a $1000 more. Kudos to the Panasonic engineers for both cameras!
I was actually thinking Nikon D5000 or the new Panasonic Lumix GH1 which is much smaller and way overpriced $1500, i cannot even afford it in my dreams.
I agree, But I also believe that one should use DOF for crative reasons. It seems everyone wants to shoot out of focus shots to prove they can. Sometimes that gets hard to watch. :o)
That's because he's demonstrating the possibilities of the manual focus. Pro filmmakers hate autofocus and want to know what you can get by tweaking it manually.
What do you thing is better for videos? gh1 or gf1? thanks for you reponse..

The D5000 doesn't do auto-focus, and doesn't do 1080p.
