TORTOISE. People this is a tortoise! Turtles have much sleeker shells, thinner, allowing them to swim faster. Not to mention turtles have webbed hands and feet. Tortoises (as far as I know) would just sink if you put them out of their depth in water.

A proper home for these torts is a sand bed and rocks to keep their nails and beak trimmed.

I have a russian tort; she chews on rocks and walks in sand. It keeps her beak and claws nice and trim.

Tortoises ARE technically "turtles". "Turtles" refers to the classification family called "Chelonians". All tortoises are technically "turtles" but most turtles are not tortoises. Tortoises are a minority of the family "Turtles". Cherish your egyptians, they are very endangered.

You should cover that glass up so that the tortoise doesent see what is outside. The glass is causing it stress and constant desire for escape. thats why its going back and forth but in other cases its perfectly normal.

Well this tortoise is at the zoo, so I can't do anything about the glass, and since he's at the zoo, I don't think they would cover the glass up anyways...They've improved the exhibit greatly since I made this video though and he doesn't do this now...

The reason he is sratching on the glass is it is highly stressed trying to escape. Keeping a tortoise in a small glass tank where they can see out but not get out is literally torture...this kind of captivity has been proven to take years off of their lifespan.

I do disagree with 'tortoise tanks' as yes they are bad for them. However it's not thier tortoise as they said and all tortoises do this even outside or a proper enclosure with the bet of ventelation, any tortoise owner will tell you that they're always attempting escape no matter what.
